Just got done running around 8 hours of Dead Space 3 with @Snowbeat, with him as Isaac, and myself as Carver. Gotta say, for a game designed for co-op, it's retardedly single-character focused in the cut-scenes. As in, if I'm playing as Carver, I don't need to see everything from Isaac's perspective. Especially to then pan to the left where Carver is conveniently standing afterwards.
No where near the depth of flight model I usually like.
Are you flying arcade, historical or full-real?
Because that matters. I usually stick to historical since it's easy and somewhat realistic (you can break of so many things by going too fast etc) and I don't really like arcade.
Thought I was doing not too bad up to sector 7 when I went from 'comfortably surviving' to 'instantly annihilated'. Damn Mantis boarding teams.
A tip for surviving and thriving: killing a ship's crew gives you much more money than destroying it, and can really help on the last boss. Getting a boarding party of your own is a really viable strategy.
Got it in the Humble Bundle a couple weeks back, finally got around to playing it - you need to unlock stuff to make the jets or helicopters actually useful but unlocking stuff requires getting kills with jets or helicopters which is impossible because they have a piddly machine gun and everyone else has five kinds of missiles and crazy air radar and fuck.
The Senate has turned on us, filled with rage and jealous due to our popularity with the people of this glorious Republic, envious of the lands we have conquered, filled with lust for the riches we bring from distance lands, they have declared us traitors and abandoned Rome, fleeing north with their supporters in a surprise manoeuvre they established themselves in the Gallic town of Koria.
While our main force scrambled to find ship from the latest wars with Syracuse far to the South, and a new army began to be raised and trained in Rome, the loyal defenders in Medhlan prepared to face the oncoming storm. They knew from the outset that they would be hopelessly outnumbered, but when the true scale of the challenge facing them became apparent few would have blamed them for baulking, for their survival must have seemed a distant and impossible dream.
Unfortunately for the senators with their grasping greed and the soldiers foolish enough to follow them they faced true Romans that day.
Before reinforcements could be found, or even repairs conducted, a second wave of traitors descended on the city like locusts, still panting from exertion and shaking viscera from sword the defenders rose to the horn's call, grim in the certainty that fortune could not possibly favour them enough to let them see another sunrise, they marched to the broken hole where once proud gates had stood and said goodbye to those few of their brothers and friends who remained standing around them.
Images linked because they didn't seem readable enough as thumbnails and were too big to inline.
How did I achieve that SUPER PRO MASTERFUL VICTORY, you ask?
Simple!
The AI bugged the fuck out and didn't attack, just stood in front of a closed gate. My general was able to swing wide and destroy their balista in a lightning strike early on and then nothing happened for the next 40+ minutes of battle time.

I wish I could even get planes and choppers off the GROUND, let alone get kills with them.
has anyone played the year of the snake dlc for sleeping dogs?
My brother has he said it was Ok kind of sucky and good
If you completed the main story or most of it and then play year of the snake you have the powers/skills you learned from the game but it seems you lack the power of them

I
CANNOT
fly with a mouse, it would seem.
To get unlocks you can be a passenger in said vehicle, I love being a gunner in a heli or tank with a good driver, just razing the opposition.
Normally I go repairer and jump out and blowtorch the vehicle back to health at any opportune moment.
Occasionally that bites me in the arse when I pop out of a tank on the wrong side and collect an incoming enemy tank shell with my head...

Helicopters you can just be the gunner and get unlocks from that.
I hate the overly large amount of unlocks in that style of FPS these days.
Unlocks shit me. BF2 had around the right amount of unlocks for my liking (7).
I can tolerate more, but it takes away from games rather than adds to them for me.
Not having rockets or counter measures is straight up bullshit though.
Well BF3 is "authentic" so I guess how armies work. You start off with just a rifle and once you've killed 10 guys you can maybe be allowed to use a scope.
If you're a bomb disposal guy you need to defuse 100 bombs with your bare hands before they give you an EOD bot. Ten more bombs after that and you get a bomb disposal suit!
You don't want to know what you need to do to unlock med-kits.
At least they gave you Defibs on the medic straight up this time around right? On the whole I preferred the unlock system in BFBC2 but that was a standout stupid feature of it.
Being able to remove scopes from the bolt action rifles was nice in BF3 though (when I was playing this also removed bullet drop).

They do seem to have gone a bit mental with unlocks in BF3.
Every single sniper rifle has about a dozen different scope unlocks. For both sides!
Quake Live however is my least favourite of the Quakes.
I yearn for simpler times where a man could count the number of guns on his fingers and run at a billion miles an hour.

Hey, know what's a good game? Tomb Raider.
Not as good? Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.
This has been another edition of "Taking down that Steam backlog, one game at a time".

yeah, christ. i can't believe we marathoned through that
the funniest bit was when the snow-crab punted isaac down a cliff face and then carver comes flying in a few seconds later in the exact same fashion. did he see isaac get hurled and think to himself "that looks like fun"? the world will never know

I never played the Quakes in their heyday so when I bought the iD megapack on Steam a long time ago I was pretty excited. I beat all of Quake and it's two expansions and loved every minute of it, but then found I hated Quake 2 and 3, and I never did bother trying 4 out. Was it any good?

This has been another edition of "Taking down that Steam backlog, one game at a time".
FoC was clunky in a way that, in hindsight, perhaps should have been expected from a game about giant robots. Also turgidly hard at times. From "Oh, hey, enemies behind me" to dead in less time than it takes to say "Oh, hey, enemies behind me".
But as a nostalgia tugjob, it was great. Especially seeing Metroplex again, since I once owned the toy.

Yeah, I mean for some games f2p is great and bully for those companies that do it right and everything is dandy. But sometimes I just want to pay for my game upfront and that's it.

You get one starter town, three dungeons, your choice of a starter sword, axe, or fists, and you can level up, but only in a single skill tree.

Squad Size: 200 space bucks. Buy 1000 space bucks for only $5!
Cpl Thompson is in the med bay for 12 days. Pay $2 to heal him up now.

So I have my main XCOM:EU file that is on Classic.
I also have my 'drinking file' which is where I save-scum like a bandit and just shoot alien face for shits and giggles.
My 'drinking file' is on Easy and I nearly lost three troops in a single turn (without save-scumming) because 95% hit with a sniper rifle is insufficient.
XCOM: Easy ... just like regular XCOM, only with a small glimmer of hope that gets dashed upon the rocks of Mount RNG.

I am feeling far too cocky after winning my first campaign on classic xcom with only losing one guy, so, last night I started (but didn't have time to actually play) an impossible ironman game using a bunch of second wave options.
I expect to be humbled very quickly.

I have only got a witch doctor to 60, and I remember a lot of people saying that the WD wasn't as good as the other classes. The wizard is just all BEAMS and BLIZZARD and TIME WARP. And now I just unlocked Archon!
