Unique Mechanics
This is a cooking-themed Phalla, and one that recommends a heavy amount of player contribution. Players may create a character. Players may also choose to participate in the daily Challenges and Tests.
The word "may" here is specifically chosen: if a player does
not want to participate in the cooking portions of this game, the host (or a designated host representative) will take any required actions in their stead. Host created characters will be generated randomly. Though host will attempt to take reasonable actions during the Challenges and Tests, no guarantee is given. The player may also abdicate that responsibility to another player, but that of course has its own risks.

Cooking Mechanics
For each Challenge and Test, every chef will be preparing one or more Dishes. Dishes are combinations of two or three Ingredients, each of which is cooked individually. After each Ingredient is cooked, the Dish is Plated. The score of the Dish is the total of each Ingredient's Quality plus the Quality of the Plating.
To prepare an Ingredient, a chef must select a Preparation method and an amount of Flair that will go into the preparation. A number of six-sided dice are rolled equal to the chef's skill with that Ingredient type. Dice whose values are equal to or less than the Flair value are eliminated from the results. Each point the chef has in the chosen Preparation method may then be used to modify any die's result. If at this point all the dice match (2 dice minimum), a bonus die may be rolled. If this result matches the other results, the process continues until a non-matching result is rolled. When no more dice can be rolled, the number of matching dice determines how well the Ingredient was Prepared:
- Zero: The Ingredient is ruined! Subtract the Ingredient's Risk score from the final quality of the dish.
- Two: Acceptable. Add one to the Dish's Quality.
- Three: Well done. Add either the attempted Flair OR the Ingredient's Flavor to the Dish's Quality.
- Four: Excellent job! Add the attempted Flair and the Ingredient's Flavor to the Dish's Quality.
- Five or more: Truly a Five Star Masterchef in the making! Not only do you add the attempted Flair and the Ingredient's Flavor to the Dish's Quality, but a bonus die will be rolled during Plating.
When preparing an Ingredient in the chef's School of Cookery, the chef will roll an extra die.
Once per Challenge or Test, a chef may choose to use their Signature Touch on an Ingredient. This will give the chef an extra die to roll during that Ingredient's Preparation.
Flavor Combinations
Certain Ingredients have Flavors that, when combined with Ingredients having complimentary Flavors, improve the overall Quality of the Dish. The Ingredient must be successfully prepared (ie, not be ruined) for this bonus to occur.
When each Ingredient has been Prepared, the Dish must be Plated. Like during Ingredient Preparation, a chef will decide an amount of Flair that will go into Plating the Dish. A number of six-sided dice are rolled equal to the chef's Plate Preparation Skill. Dice whose value are equal to or less than the Flair value are eliminated. Each point the chef has in Plate may then be used to modify any die's result. If all dice match, bonus dice may be rolled as described above. When no more dice can be rolled, the number of matching dice determines how well the Dish was Plated:
- Zero: Sloppy. Subtract the attempted Flair from the Dish's Quality.
- Two: Good enough. Quality is not affected.
- Three or more: Excellent! The attempted Flair is added to the Dish's Quality.
Please note that dice rolling will be handled by an automated process. Chefs will submit Ingredient selections, Preparation methodology, attempted Flair for each Ingredient and Plating, and whether or not the chef wishes to use their Signature Touch via a Google Form that will be shared with the players.
Challenges and Tests
Each day is broken into two parts - a Challenge Phase and a Test Phase. Challenge Phases end at
10:30 am Eastern, while the Test Phase ends at
10:30 pm Eastern (normal vote close). Winning the Challenge Phase will give you a huge advantage for the second half of the day!
Oh my god what?
That's why it's optional. You can play this like a regular game of Phalla, you'll just miss out on the bonus stuff.
Crowning the Five Star Masterchef
The last villager standing will win the title of this season's Five Star Masterchef. This has no bearing on whether the village or the mafia wins the overall game.
