I can learn swordplay and spells in like a million games. Surely there's a path to victory for the floral specialist.
If my castle is burning to the ground because of a peasant revolt/demonic possession/cooking lesson gone awry, I want it to look fabulous while it does so.
Edit: Of course that would be the TotP. I'm trying to give away gift copies, I languish at the bottom, but one comment about flower arrangements and HEY EVERYBODY COME WATCH CAPTAIN INTERIOR DESIGN GET KILLED AGAIN
Going to trade for Risk of Rain I think but before I do thought I'd see if anyone wants to do a 4 pack. Running around 9 keys on the trade market so that's like 2 keys and a little extra so would probably be roughly 5.50 -6 ish per person. If you're interested let me know.

I'm reposting this now, since there's less than a day and a half left and I'll have minimal time on the computer for most of tomorrow.
I noticed Summer Sale cards were uber cheap, so instead of trying to sell the ones I had, I just spent like $3 and got a level 5 badge. Leftovers are up for grabs.

The events seem fixed, so it's mostly a matter of which skills will save you from a minor faux pas, and which will keep you alive. There's no sense that a social build is a viable way forward, so it seems living to coronation involves becoming a master warrior/mage/tactician, as opposed to calmly having your designated archer pick off Lord Douchington after he throws down the gauntlet at the tournament.
That said, filling up skill bars does scratch that special itch right behind the ear, so I don't mind continuing to try. Bring out the little girl that likes horseys! I got a good feeling about this one.
I got a Postal 2 coupon while leveling up my steam giveaway badge if anyone wants to get really depressed over a good game engine and level design being wasted on sub par humor and writing.
It bothers me that Steam doesn't track non-steam game times. Friggin' teardrops in the rain, man.
On this note, I find it rather amusing that you can't get Blood Dragon cards by actually playing the game, because uPlay takes over and Steam loses track of you, but if you just let it sit on the launcher...

Played about an hour of Blood Dragon just now, and came back to see 1 minute recorded on Steam.
Might have also been because it's the first time I played the game. Or used uPlay.
Steam, when a game is installed on another hard drive why do you insist on downloading all temporary files for that game to C:/
There is no room there.
Trying to install Enemy Within has been a pain. Though it's my fault, XCOM isn't actually installed to my other HDD but only "Steam Moved" over there.
The great thing about that tool is that it's really just using the Windows filesystem junction feature, which has nothing to do with Steam. If you Steam Move your steamapps/downloading folder, everything will work fine ( close Steam before doing that for best results).
You can even Steam Move your entire steamapps folder (although I'm not sure how it works when you move a folder containing junctions across drives; I moved mine on a fresh installation before I started downloading games).
an extra tip of the top hat to @big dookie who acted like a classy jewish mother and thought my game bank looked too skinny and i shouldn't go away without a game after asking about scribblenauts and he gave me Fez.

Want to place some extra notice on this one, The Swapper is on sale today!
"I came away from The Swapper with nothing but amazement. From the first time you see the literally hand-crafted visuals until the final moment in the game, which is sure to give you pause for thought, you will be in complete awe. Brilliant puzzles with even more brilliant solutions compliment the philosophical plotline, leaving an unforgettable experience unlike any other."
10/10 - Destructoid
"The Swapper tempted me with ingenious puzzles, transported me to a fully realized science-fiction world, and made me ask questions about mortality and morality that few video games have ever dared to explore. Very few puzzle games have ever managed to marry impeccable challenges with a mature storytelling quite like this – there's no fluff or extraneous content here, only a prime example of how to create a tight, unforgettable gaming experience."
9.3 - IGN
"It didn’t take me long to fall in love with The Swapper; it continuously surprised and impressed me from its intriguing first moments to its fantastic ending."
9.25 - Game Informer
"The game’s level design is excellent at accentuating a core, the piece you’re nearly certain must be pivotal. It’s the particulars of arranging everything around that piece that force you into this state of constant iteration and experimentation. Think, rethink. Get stumped. Take a break. Go outside. Have some ice crea- wait, no. Pet a dog. Or maybe go for a stroll in the park, because that would- Oh god, now Swapper’s thought process has invaded your mind. You can’t escape."
- Rock, Paper, Shotgun
"The inventive puzzles and smart storytelling here are reinforced with an impeccable sense of style. To simply describe the experience as a challenging puzzle game would sell short its fascinating environments and carefully constructed narrative. There’s a lot more to it than you can convey with a box quote or one minute trailer. This is a game that demands more from its players, and treats them as capable thinkers. Don’t make the mistake of dismissing The Swapper."
9.2 - GameTrailers
"This is serious sci-fi, concerned not so much with aliens and gadgetry, but the effects these things have on the soul."
9.0 - Eurogamers
"The Swapper is a slow and thoughtful game unnervingly fixated on its gratuitous death toll. It's a puzzle game that asks you to consider your actions, both literally and mentally — what they did and what they cost. It is the space marine shooter inverted."
9.0 - Polygon

In other news, after @CorriganX hooked me up with the WB bundle which granted me Fears 2 and 3, I decided to fire up the first one for the first time so that I could play them in order.
If you haven't played Fear yet, let me tell you some things.
Ok, so I know that everyone who talks about Fear talks about the shotgun, and trust me, I'm going to, but first I want to talk to you about the melee. With a weapon in your hand, the melee button will pistol whip your enemy, or club them with the butt of your weapon. Simple stuff. However, you can holster your weapon, and sneak up on dudes, and then unleash a flurry of punches, lightning fast, as quickly as you can jam on your mouse button... all that is missing is the ATATATATATATATATATATATATAAAAAAH sound effect.
Now, if you are stationary, and jump/melee at the same time you will do a spin kick so good it would amaze even Jean Claude Van Damme, and he's a guy that is sorta into spin kicks.
If you are running toward an enemy and you melee/crouch at the same time, you will do an absolutely brutal slide kick. Also, because fuck physics, you can do slide kicks up stairs.
Now let's say you're running toward an enemy and you jump/melee at the same time. Guess what, you're now doing a goddamn bicycle kick aimed directly at the face of your enemy.
Also, because your character has reflexes that are "off the charts", you can do all of these things in bullet time.
Now, about the shotgun, if you're a person who enjoys a good shotgun, let me describe a scenario for you: You open a door, jump over a railing, and unload a blast of buckshot point blank into an unsuspecting enemy soldier, he then explodes into a cloud of tomato paste, sending pieces of limbs in all directions, his last scream a slowed down cry of desperation that lasts from the instant he sees you until the millisecond before his head is detached from his instantly liquefying torso. And since this is all happening in slow motion, it turns into a ballet of carnage that unfolds right before your eyes. Not since Quake III Arena have I seen a more satisfying human explosion.
Not to mention the amount of background stuff that blows up, shatters, cracks, or splinters, throwing particles and smoke all over the place. Remember Black on the PS2 and Xbox? Similar stuff.
So if any of that tickles your pickle, get in on the Humble WB Bundle, because the first Fear is supposed to be one of the unlocked games coming later.

He doesn't always challenge you to a duel. It depends on how you handle earlier events, the Ixionite war iirc. History and Intrigue are essential to nonviolent resolutions to things. (World history and ciphering are, to my knowledge, useless, but the other ones).
Also, look at your achievements. One of them is "Saved the day with the power of music". I'm pretty sure it's completely possible to survive to coronation without ever taking any points in physical or mystical disciplines.

Jebus. How does he fit all his projects into a scheduled year?
By drinking heavily (maybe that's just after playing Arcanum).
I finished the US Navy campaign of Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies yesterday. The game is pretty fun. It's definitely worth the $5, but I personally wouldn't pay much more than that. While the gameplay is fun, it starts to get pretty repetitive as the game goes on. I wish there were more mission types other than "pick 2-4 fighters and shoot down 2-4 enemies", basically. There's things like protecting a bomber or stopping an recon plane, but they all come down to shooting down all of the enemies. Your bomber successfully bombed the enemy carrier? Congratulations, mission accomplished! Now just down the rest of the enemy fighters.
Upgrading your pilots and planes is fun. I think the game could have benefited greatly from a strategic layer. The turn-based battles are great, but only feel like half a game. Basically, it's tablet game that feels like a tablet game, but it's easily worth $5 of fun. I only played the 1 campaign (of 4), but I don't see the others being all that different other than scenery and available planes.
Electronic Super Joy is pretty damn hard and manages to hit a bit of that "One more try" itch like Hotline Miami and Super Meat Boy. Worth a spin if you picked it up in the groupee's bundle. Though the soundtrack and how often you'll die will make it sound like french people are getting it on in your room.

Spent some time with Wrack's new beta yesterday. The Alpha had sold me on the game and last night just reinforced this. The campaign starts simple, very much like E1M1 in Doom. It introduces you to some enemies and gives you a look at the basics of what you'll be doing throughout the game. You'll be thinking to yourself, yes this is all very familiar, and you may even have a bit of a ho-hum to your thoughts. Then as the levels go by you'll find yourself trying to navigate hazardous environments at full warp factor strafejump speeds while building kill chains with your shotgun to get those sweet sweet bonus points. By the time you hit the third level, if you are playing on appropriate difficulty, you'll probably start to feel the game getting real. Enemy projectiles may seem trivial at first but you'll probably rethink that as you are weaving your way through mass fire while being chased by seeker projectiles.
Six levels are in the game now, with two more and a secret level on the way to finish up the first set of missions. The game ships with an editor and has Featured Map as an option for New Game, so there will be fresh maps to play on, two more Episodes are planned along with Workshop support. As well as the single player run through the missions there are also Time Attack and Score Attack modes, with leaderboards. And trust me, this game is built from the ground up with that style of gameplay in mind. If you enjoy games like Doom and Quake you should pay attention to this thing and seriously think about picking it up. Be aware that a lot of the youtube videos are Alpha content. There have been a lot of changes to the levels. I was seriously surprised by the amount of work evident between the two versions. All of the level hazards have been refined, moving platforms have been removed and (thankfully) replaced with stationary positions that can be used to navigate levels at ridonkulous bunny hopping speeds. Bobby Prince's audio design is in full effect here with awesome weapons sounds and the style of rock you should all be familiar with.
This game is a love letter to Doom and really punches up the arcade aspects in that regard. Don't come looking for advanced AI or progression gimmicks. There's no cover and weapons only have a single fire mode. But if you want to move at the speed of light through cool levels and kill with the precision of a shotgun wielding laser beam you'll probably have a lot of fun with this.
I just picked this up right before the humble bundle came out so I thought I'd pass it along. Surely there must be someone here who does not have this yet!

Wait, what? I haven't tried anything other than social builds...
There are lots of winning build paths. Lots.
So in Demonicon it appears like there's some possible squicky incest type stuff between the two lead siblings (one of which you play as). Either this is going to end with a reveal that one of them is adopted so it's "okay" or this game is going to be charting some gross new territory. I think I will roleplay the lead as the creepily jealous brother because really, where else am I going to get this opportunity?

I tried it out the other day and I'm not sure I like it so far but I think it's probably just that I don't like the music, I'll have to give it another go with the music off
I tried it this morning. Both Half-Life 2 and Escape Goat had updates but they gave me the option to just play or download the update first. Nice.
I can't believe this is six years old now... I should reinstall on the new computer.

This game, bafflingly enough, seems difficult to offload on here.
C'mon, folks! There have got to be people here who haven't played this game. It's awesome!
My Backloggery
What is it? blocked at work
I think the music is kind of key to the groove really. It's not my type of music normally but for games like this I like it.
Wait, what? I haven't tried anything other than social builds...
There are lots of winning build paths. Lots.
Costume pack / apology for releasing a bad patch because they are awesome enough to actually care when they mess up
Volition, despite all the recent turmoil, remains pretty awesome.

Interesting. Can that conflict be avoided entirely then? Hmm...
This game is crazy deep. Always another path to uncover... all achievements without a guide will be a feat.

Sounds like some kind of Princess Maker. Beating everything up is always effective. Also heavy, manual farmwork.
