KICK! WHAM!! CYBER STUNNER TO EVERY SINGLE HUMAN BEING IN THE WRESTLING THREAD!
So I may be able to go to the Nashville ROH tv tapings after all. Kevin Steen vs. Chris Hero and AJ Styles vs. Roderick Strong, along with the majority of the Young Lions tournament, should make for a pretty fantastic show.

Speaking of TNA, boy they sure did show up WWE by doing the "champ leaves company with top title" angle correctly unlike Punk from 2011. Did it affect their business at all? Nope. Did they manage to lose Styles in the process? Yep. But all that matters is they did something better than WWE two years after everyone stopped caring.

...wow, my comparing DC Entertainment to TNA as Marvel is to WWE is reversing itself. (To paraphrase a famous interwubs reviewer of vidya games, "Batman vs. Superman is DC showing up to a battle Marvel already won three years ago.")
Drew McIntyre, Jinder Mahal and Ricardo Rodriguez worked as "The Mounties" at last night's Toronto show where they lost to Los Matadores and El Torito.

Well... they did it correctly in terms of keeping him off TNA tv and making us actually believe he was done with the company (Which has come to fruition)
But AJ and his character aren't half the anti authority figure that Punk was and Dixie doesnt belong in the same sentence as Vince when it comes to being a heel
Good execution with lackluster characters does not a good storyline make
I'd love it if Punk's corner corkscrew blockbuster made a comeback, but considering he once broke his skull performing it I would be fine with him not using it.
I think wallsofjerichoholic has the best advice for the whole Bryan/Bray thing
Daniel Bryan is a broken man. Joining the Wyatt Family is the logical nadir for his character, and now the possibilities seem to be plentiful if not endless. Will WWE follow through on it? Well, I've spent a lot of time agonizing over whether they would or not, but to be honest, do what Brandon Stroud says. Enjoy the good stuff when it happens so that you have memories of it when WWE drops the ball.
Also, shout out to Luke Harper for getting the perfect lobotomized look on his face as he outstretched his hand for Bryan to join them. He may not break out as a singles star, but he could be an awesome minion for his entire career.
When CM Punk was raging against the machine, he claimed that he was the “voice of the voiceless,” a guy who was gonna say and do what the people wanted to say and wanted done to bring down John Cena, Vince McMahon and the oppressive hierarchy WWE had built for itself to keep people like him from succeeding. He did it, too. He won the WWE Championship, held it for ransom and had the entire wrestling world talking about him. It blew the doors off WWE. Then, because Punk’s goals are ultimately always just “make CM Punk succeed above all others,” he carefully glued the doors back into place, walked into the room and carefully shut them behind him.
Daniel Bryan’s trying desperately to break through those same doors. He’s fighting the same people Punk raged against. Trying to break the mold of what an acceptable Face Of The WWE looks like. Proving that talent and heart and dedication are all you need to succeed, not connections and good looks and timing. It’s interesting that while Bryan was trying so hard to grab the brass ring only for it to slip through his fingers that Punk was busy in his “own universe,” dealing with a betrayal in ONE MATCH for six months. When Punk came back to Earth, he stepped in alongside Bryan long enough to wrestle a few tag matches, but nothing ever came of it. He limply tried to save Bryan from the Wyatts once but got jumped by The Shield, so he’s still trying to fight them instead of doing ANYTHING to help the voiceless. He poses for goofy photo ops as John Cena’s little buddy, sorta like how he gleefully put on Triple H’s blazer only a few months after being consistently humiliated by him. In last night’s Backstage Fallout, Punk offers an explanation … that Bryan is “a man” and can “stand on his own two feet.” He’ll have to deal with it himself. Because Punk has better things to do.
Who’s the only person actually trying to help Bryan? Not the Big Show. Show only helped him out long enough to get his job back. It’s Cena. The same guy who fought valiantly for CM Punk’s right to be the true WWE Champion and eventually turned him into John Cena Tag Team Partner #2. Now Cena’s stepping in to cool Bryan’s fire, giving him “little buddy” status. Cena’s the one who’ll fight the Wyatts to save Bryan. He’s the one who’ll tag up and face insurmountable odds. Why? Because he’s nice? No. Because he’s the Big Bad of WWE. He’s evil. He is the living, breathing Status Quo, and his job is to assimilate the nonconformists and make them just like him. He did it with Punk, and now he’ll do it with Bryan. Make them wear t-shirts and twirl them over their heads and love the Troops and go out there and entertain Each And Every One Of You. No individuality. No individual success. Success for the unit. For the team. Why do you think all the legends tell contenders they aren’t REALLY good unless they’ve beaten John Cena, and when they do, why it still isn’t good enough? Because “John Cena” is the only answer. He is the all-consuming monster at the end of this book.
Bray Wyatt might end up being the only thing to save Daniel Bryan. Think about it.
Ortons clothesline is pretty bad, and Punks post-corner one never looks great. To switch it around, who has the best looking clothesline? I don't really wanna count 'finish' clotheslines like JBL, but just your every day knock you on your ass clothesline. I always thought Brock back in the day had a beastly one.

This is a good summary on how badly ROH botched Michael Elgin in 2013.
We all know what Ring of Honor used to be, and comparing it to the current product can sometimes be a bit frustrating. One of the hallmarks of the company has always been its willingness to push the best wrestlers available to them, and when looking at his body of work, Michael Elgin has generally taken on the El Generico role of having the best match on the card. Even on the Wrestlemania weekend show at the Hammerstein Ballroom, it was Elgin and Lethal who had the best match. Since it was a number one contender’s match for the world title, it was naturally assumed Elgin would get his championship match against Kevin Steen at Border Wars and become the conquering.
ROH exchanged creating their next big babyface star in favor of a singular moment and essentially giving Jay Briscoe a lifetime achievement award. Briscoe’s title win didn’t seem possible a month earlier given his injuries, but now he was thrust into the prime position. Elgin took a back seat to Briscoe and voluntarily (within storyline) decided to wait to receive his world title match, so he could take on SCUM. Having Elgin dominate SCUM makes him an easy top babyface and world champion, right?
As it turns out, Kevin Steen, already one of the most over people on the roster and former world champion, killed his own group. Michael Elgin was placed in random tags and had a fire ball thrown in his face. Two opportunities to catapult Elgin to the next level blown. But wait. Jay Briscoe can’t defend the world title anymore because he’s “injured.” Naturally, Elgin should get the title, right?
A tournament was constructed. Elgin wanted to be part of it, talked about beating 15 other men and all but guaranteeing victory. What happens? He loses to Adam Cole. Three chances to make Michael Elgin a star… and nothing. Of course Elgin did look like a world beater at Glory by Honor in pinning all four champions, but taking the belt off Cole was not happening. Instead, Elgin lost yet another world title match, and despite Jay Briscoe being involved and available to take the pinfall, Cole pinned Elgin. Cole pinning Elgin with at Final Battle was merely the cherry on top. Inherently, there’s nothing wrong with Jay Briscoe winning the world title, Kevin Steen killing SCUM, or Adam Cole winning the tournament. All three of those wrestlers have earned the right to call themselves superstars and I would have no problem giving any promotion that uses them money. The greater issue has to do with creating new stars.
As I’ll discuss later, Ring of Honor’s choices in who they select to be the next big thing are questionable at best. The chance to shift Elgin to the sort of status reserved for men like CM Punk, Samoa Joe, or Austin Aries was there three times. Three times Elgin got booked to choke or lose.
Again, it's a flawed belief that a guy needs a title to be a star. Hell, that thing brings up CM Punk; he was one of RoH's biggest stars, and only held the title on his way out.
Edit: I still think RoH has an issue with pulling the trigger on guys, but the only point where I really felt Elgin should have won the title was at the end of that tourney, and Cole was the better choice of champion at that moment.

It was bad timing I must admit when it came to Cole being a better choice to win. Elgin will probably never have a truly memorable title reign now however. I'd say just give it to Hero next year.

They probably should have given the belt to Elgin instead of Jay Briscoe back when that was an option.

GTS is fine. I just want him to stop attempting the Savage Elbow Drop.

he does good head kicks, I guess???? probably just comes from being around the young bucks
still a big punk fan though
punk is a technical mess but I love him because his ring psychology is utterly phenomenal
randy orton probably has the worst one, though
Because it has no impact?
I've never noticed.

re: clotheslines is orton's worse than jomo's?
Nope, jomo is the king of bad clotheslines.
