Which is the better Video Card?

Ok, so I have an eVGA 6600 gt agp card right now. My friend just upgraded his rig and has a spare Saphire 9800xt agp card that I can have.

The question is, am I going to notice any difference at all between the two?

IIRC, 6600 GT's are about the same as x700 ATI cards, and since those are meant to be a step up from the 9800 line, the card you've got now should be fine.

It looks like the 6600gt has 128mb of video memory while the 9800xt has 256. What part of a video card actually makes the card worthwhile?

honestly, the generation. The architectures differ so greatly between cards that you can't really quantify their power using the sum of their parts. There are number of pipelines, ram speed, GPU speed, amount of ram, specific units for stuff like shader effects, and so on. Benchmarks are the best comparison, so go look up benchmarks for each card and compare. In my opinion, its not worth your time upgrading unless you plan on playing some texture intensive games that like 256mb of video memory.
