So after some deliberation and discussion I figured now is as good a time as any to put this up. This thread is to start a movement similar to the NY/NJ thread to create a running list of California PAers for the purposes of meeting up for random board games and activities, but also to provide a list of potential friends to hang out with for all those PAers that decide to visit the sunny side of the country. So California PA forumers, let's make ourselves known. I'll update the OP as you reveal yourselves.
Events will be updated
every two weeks eventually. If you guys see something you like, start PMing and coordinating. THE WEST WILL UNITE!

Yelling at butts will never NOT be funny. Thanks, Psy!
Also, Abby is awesome. Keep up with TLH because it's the tits!
I love League of Legends, but seriously...screw you, Teemo.
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
Let's do something.
Garlic, eh? Your vampire-resistant county intrigues me.
Yes well, I'm not paid by the county to advertise but if you're at all concerned with vampire safety there is no better place to be. Santa Clara has it all guy, we got garlic, we got running water, we have stores that sell rice and, AND my friend we have sunshine.
Now I know what you're saying, "But Van, what about the werewolves?" well if werewolves are you concern then I got to tell you pal, you're screwed cause those things can get anywhere.
Japanese animation has taught me that love and friendship and collecting items will protect us against the werewolves.
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
That's the best part...
There we go.

Yup, couldn't explain why I always wanted a pizza when I stepped out on my porch every morning. Luckily it only takes a week or so for your brain to chemically burn off the garlic smell receptors.

I would like to hang with you doges.
Considering the 3 major towns that I know of are West Sacramento, Davis and Woodland...
Kinda... Woodland is dying, Davis is a college town and West Sacramento is on the wrong side of the river.
Haha. This old man had the reverse confusion at first when it seemed like suddenly every other kid on the internet was repping his area. And I'm in Davis specifically, pretty sure our primary exports are geeky scientists who seem to pop up in the NPR On Science podcast every other week or so and the occasional oddball stories like The Toad Tunnel for folks like Colbert to make fun of.
Also maybe we can set up some sort of awesome meet up in LA? OC folk we could hop on the train and meet in downtown with the LAers.

I'm pretty large...over 75" tall...I love some sports, but paintball isn't exactly my thing.
Not opposed to it, but I'm less likely to be successful at it, and being successful at something (or rather, not being the worst) is what usually brings joy to sports.
But gaming...man, I love me some gaming.
Anything less than or close to 40 miles of the southwest Riverside area, and I'd totally be down for going places for a get-together.

If it helps, I'm 6'1" so I know the feeling. But man...getting to say "Are those my balls on your face?" to someone after a particularly good shot never really gets old. Isn't there a train from Riverside to Downtown? I figure its the most effective transport for a meet up.

The last time I used a train (sober) was when I was like...8 and we went to SeaWorld. Then again, drunk, I used a tram and it was in Vegas, so yeah...
I drive everywhere, but I wouldn't be opposed to using a train...the only issue is I don't know prices or locations.
Also, downtown where? When people say 'Downtown' I think of Long Beach.

I cannot fully endorse this quote, but I can agree to a certain degree. I think NorCal has its charms though. There's a reason why 5 of my 6 relationships were from San Francisco...what it is is still in question. Great clam chowder though

Other places don't have strawberries the size of a bowling ball? Savages.
Truly, a biased opinion. I read every one of those and thought of the truth in the fact that my out-of-state friends and I have discussed most of these at one point, and, while from a perspective favoring SoCal, the reality isn't far off.

In defense of the rest of the country, they do get seasons. We only get, what? Spring and Summer? As if those were the best seasons or something....

I mean, it gets a little chilly here and there in California (mostly in the mountains), so maybe some Autumn? Mountains get snow, so only Winter for people living up in them (which I used to, and I fucking loved it).

Granted, I'm broke as fuck so this isn't an idea I'm talking about attempting to enact for some time.
Also most of us haven't met or bro'd or lady bro'd down yet so I also understand this is a future scenario.
But I have an idea! (for SoCal and NorCal alike, though it'll be more of a hike for NorCal peeps)
Two years ago, 11 friends and I rented a cabin in Big Bear for a long weekend.
You can easily rent a nice, furnished "cabin" (a house) that sleeps about 12 (albeit uncomfortably) and have a pretty economically great time.
The place we stayed had an upstairs with entertainment center with hd hookups, an hdtv and bluray/dvd player (and it had a bat when we got there!). Downstairs was a long table that we played board games (easily could accommodate tabletop gaming) on for most of the weekend and had meals.
Out back there was not only the woods and the mountains, but also a Jacuzzi and a gas grill.
We each committed to bringing like $25 of food/beverages/booze (though we weren't strict, some brought more, some less), and suddenly with twelve people doing that we had enough booze, food and drinks for everyone to really dig in all weekend. We did some communal cooking and some do whatever you want cooking.
Including the food I think we paid like $150 a person for 2 days, 1 morning and 2 nights.
Anyways, just throwing that out there. I'd love to see a PA group do that. There's awesome trails and bouldering and rock climbing for the adventurous outdoorsy d&ders, and you can easily do all of your favorite video and tabletop gaming in the cabin for those less inclined to get out.
My group's highlight was going for an early morning rock clib/hike, coming back and having breakfast. Half the group went upstairs and played a group decision based LA Noire and the other half played Bang! all day on the kitchen table.
Anyways, just a thought for the future.
I'm in!
I went upstairs with my roommate and her friend and they screamed and I was all "hey guys it's only a bat let's just calmly move into the other room and shut the door because Im a woodsy outdoorsman."
and then my friend's husband came upstairs and knocked on the door and I was all "if you think we're coming out of here with that fucking bat in that other room you've got another thing coming."
