New Ratchet and Clank screens H-rape? Maybe a little
R&C? Who the hell is going to guess what that stands for?
I couldn't think of anything besides ratchet and clank
I tried to guess what it was before clicking the thread and I couldn't come up with anything. I'm not saying there's another game that uses it, just that I've never seen it used before ever. Maybe it's just me, but there's no reason the full title can't be in the name.
This thread has reminded me that I never beat the original Ratchet and Clank. I may just have to do that.
I'm in a phase where I've got nothing but a PS2 and a DS for a while, I should go back and play anything I've missed. Like this whole series. I always heard it was the better of the two (the other being jak and daxter)

Both series are great, for different reasons. The Sly series is also a great series, again, for completely different reasons.
cramsin: I hate to mention this in another R&C thread but Spyro was never "flogged" off by Insomniac. Universal owned the Spyro IP, so as soon as Insomniac finished the three games they were contracted to do, Universal decided to take the series to another developer (a developer who would probably be cheaper). From what I understand, Insomniac never even had the option of doing another Spyro game (just like Naughty Dog never had the option to do another Crash game after CTR).
From my knowledge, Insomniac was contracted by Universal to create a new IP (that Universal would own) and develop three games in the series. As soon as Insomniac finished the trilogy, Universal took the series away from them and had another (cheaper) developer work on the series. Naughty Dog had a very similar situation when they designed and developed the Crash games for Universal (though Sony managed to negotiate with Universal to let Naughty Dog develop a fourth Crash game).
Sony is the one that owns the Ratchet & Clank IP (as well as the Resistance IP) and they seem pretty content with leaving Insomniac to their own devices. The only Ratchet & Clank game that hasn't been developed by Insomniac was made by former employees of Insomniac.
Anyway the game looks freaking fantastic, but I think those screens are just from the trailer Insomniac released a month or so ago.

yeah it's fucking excellent.
And this, visually, looks amazing. Damn am I looking forward to this (not looking forward to the price tag involved)
edit - I think this one tops Sly for me overall, but I'm not sure. Something never clicked with me and Jak and Daxter, not sure why. Will probably go back to it eventually.
So is this still Insomniac or have they flogged it off ala spyro?
I wish people would stop hating on the light bloom. First off, they didn't overuse...I'd go so far as to say that you have to look for the bloom, and it's really only in that first pic. Second, bloom looks nice, admit it. They didn't implement it because it looks like shit.
I remember in Deadlocked you could unlock the ability to have "that new-fangled light bloom that's all the rage now" or somesuch. I love tongue-in-cheek things like that.
Also, if any of you haven't played the series yet, get on it for Christ's sake. Every game in the series is like twenty bucks a pop by now.
I have to say I'm not that impressed. I mean, it looks like a prettier Ratchet and Clank. I doubt that if I were playing on a standard def TV I would even really care about the improved graphics that much. I really like the series, I just am tired of it for the time being, maybe they should have taken a bit longer of a break. Don't get me wrong, I can see the increase in detail and I'm sure in HD it would look great in motion, but it's just not enough for me to see buying it at a full $50/60 price tag.

I'm past the stage where I get excited about screenshots, but seeing the game in motion is fantastic, and it does look amazingly fun and beautiful. Ratchet's always been a favorite series of mine, even though I haven't played it very much. The whole "lol shiny" is nice and all, but the action looks just as frantic as ever. Suffice to say it's probably the PS3 title that's most appealing to me right now.
It looks good, but it's like there's something wrong with the pictures in the OP. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it has to do with the colors. You know in Photoshop if you overdo the burn tool? It looks kinda like that.

Whatever, if I trash talked Mario Galaxy I would be shat on, but as it stands, anything PS3 related(even if it looks awesome) can be shat upon without repercussion.
How, exactly, am I shitting on it? I said it looks nice, I said I like the series. I simply said that it looks alot like the same game repackaged with prettier graphics and that considering we're on the 5th game now (including the PSP title) in a one generation timeframe it's just too much for me and I can't get that excited for it. No need to be touchy. People shat on Mario Sunshine for not being original enough and we only get 1 Mario platformer each generation since the N64 hit. People are excited for Galaxy as it looks new and unique. You can shit on it if you like, I don't really give a rat's ass, but don't accuse me of trolling when people here know that's not the type of thing I do.
BTW, it does look very nice in motion - but I'd still pick something with more new ideas like Little Big Planet, Viva Pinata, or Super Paper Mario if I were on a budget (which I am). I'd definately pick it up as a Greatest Hits though or even full price if it turns out I'm wrong and it really does introduce some fun new elements.

I want this game badly. I guess I will have to buy a PS3 oh no.

Still Insomniac, it wouldn't look this good if it were a flog off title.
My god, the trailers don't do it justice.

i will not own a ps3 for a long time.
i am very sad.

EDIT: I don't think there's too much bloom in these screens at all. Nicely implemented in my opinion.

Currently playing: Infamous, Resident Evil 5
Need to play: Shadow Complex, Uncharted 2, Ratchet and Clank: ACIT, MW2, Alpha Protocol
Maybe I'll finish my second UYA run to try and hold me over.
