the appeal of later AC games has been less about the challenging combat mechanics and more about the wow factor at all the cool stuff I can do
this isn't an excuse, there's no reason why they shouldn't have both (like Batman)
but it's still got a draw factor even if many of the enemy engagement mechanics have been simplified into irrelevence

like
the AC series started out as a stealth game
then it shifted into an action game
and now it's a bastardized mish-mash of conflicting visions and gameplay mechanics
I really hope Unity streamlines a lot of the stuff from past games instead of just putting them in "because they were there before", and basically present a cohesive independant vision
yeah this is assassin's creed in a nutshell for me
I just can't get past how boring the combat is
You have batman right there
Jesus just pick up something more interesting
i would say it's worth forcing your way through the early AC4 story up until you get a boat, then have fun with the actually-enjoyable ship combat and exploring the sea to get some value out of the product before returning it

I hate the ship exploration more than the town exploration/combat

Personally AC4 is my favorite in the series, my favorite game of 2013 by a considerable degree, and reinvigorated my faith in a franchise I was about to give up on
I guess my main complaint with the length of Infamous: Second Son is I felt like the story was a bit rushed along. I would have appreciated a few more missions with the other characters to get to know them better.
And I didn't enjoy most of the missions leading up to the end. Also, while I think getting a new power set during the final battle was kind of a neat idea, I would have appreciated much more getting to use those powers before I'd finished the game.
when every plot is "stop A from causing B' or "A was secretly B" or "X died so now I have to be X"
I just can't
now I'm going to use your game as a stress reliever by repeatedly firing magic at anyone and everything unless I like their character design and voice actor

Like, the overall story is whatever. Game stories are kind of bad, this is news to literally nobody.
But the characters that inhabit that story are still by and large pretty likable.

that is a big ol' sweeping generalization

Oh, christ.
Peace Walker.
There is hells of tone whiplash in this game.
You spend like half an hour in cutscenes ruminating on nuclear deterrence and some weirdly (for MGS) mundane story twists. Some actually pretty intense drama about avoiding a nuclear war in the tradition of Fail-Safe or Wargames.
And then bam! Butterflies everywhere and now you're facing off with the AI ghost of your mentor.

Except it says Knight so
Threesome with someone with knighthood?
What the hell sign
but every Chick Fil A I see is always packed
Being a dick is completely plausible motivation
I love the hard swings of Infamous choices, it's a nice break from "we're gonna try to make all these choices morally grey"
Bring me back to KOTOR days where I kill literally everyone in my party
Deception IV is out this Tuesday, fuck yes
I'm planning on replaying infamous just to see the evil stuff. Not done that with a game in a while.

Bring on Unity and whatever the PS3/360 one is
I'm ready again
That con I went to yesterday
So many Assassin's Creed cosplayers there
The curious bit? With the exception of one Ezio and one Edward-inspired Assassin, they were all Connors
Maybe during the summer lull this year
when is lightswitch simulator coming out
Those guns he made from scratch and then cast them!
Here is the underside
The note that arrived with it.
Its is a blast to play, and may have one of the best representations of a Native American tribe I have yet seen in a game
That said I am only about 50% through it, maybe something terrible will happen who knows
Uh-oh I accidentally deleted my signature. Uh-oh!!
Yes but not the nexjen version on consoles
everyone dies, no one lives
unless they're cool
I mean, I'll do an evil play through afterward, but I expect it to be a bit jarring.

Reggie is a super likable stick-in-the-mud character.
That may be a first for all of vidjagames.
