Using a 'bot' to get tickets?

CrielCriel Registered User regular
Hi all,

This year I finally got pax prime tickets after a month of refreshing and losing valuable time and production at work and clearly will not be able to do this every year. Would I be able to use an app that can check if tickets are on sale for me? Doesn't have to buy tickets for me(allowed?), just check and then notify me once they go on sale. I simply cannot watch tickets every year as I lose out on too much time and get behind at work then.

Is this against a rule? If it is, why would it be?

Twitter. Follow rkhoo and Official_PAX and set up alerts for tweets from those accounts when sales are anticipated.

I'm pretty sure most people on this forum were using a page refreshing app, but to answer your questions specifically I don't think there is a rule against using scripts to give you an edge, though Spitfire is absolutely correct. This year, your best indicator (barring starring at the screen for hours at a time) was a tweet.

Between you and me, Peggy, I smoked this Juul and it did UNTHINKABLE things to my mind and body...

Past two years I've gone by Twitter alone. In 2012 I just happened to check for tickets when they were put back on sale after the outage. However, the for 2013 and 2014 I've relied on Twitter alone and have made it through the queue to the end. Only difference is this year I stared at my cart of 2 sets of 1 day passes and then released them back for someone else to enjoy.

Regardless of what tool you use to try and gain an advantage you'll still be a nervous wreck around the time of sales.

I follow both Robert's and Official_PAX twitters, this is just to get an extra edge and to save me a little sanity and time as well :) But you are correct, i'll still end up pulling my hair out

I set up a Pingdom account to alert me when the text on the sale page changed. When the time to get a ticket gets under 1 min, I'll be out of luck, but worked fine for now.
Given the number of proud F5 warriors out there, I can't imagine there being a problem with a bot doing the refresh as long as it wasn't on a millisecond timer.
