FBI Arrests Low Level Organization Members

    Ken Johnson
    June 16 2014, 10:05PM

Chicago - The FBI continued their relentless pursuit of the Organization today arresting three allegedly crucial members of the crime syndicate. Two of the arrested are being accused of masterminding multiple bank jobs and being behind 90% of the drug trade in the streets of Chicago [names withheld]. The third member arrested has immediately entered a counter-suit against the state, claiming misconduct by the arresting agents. "It was a total frame job. They've had their eyes on me from the beginning and when I showed up clean, they planted the drugs and guns in my car," claims Gizzy. The FBI reports this is just the beginning of the arrests to be made and continues to ask for members of the Organization to come forward in exchange for immunity and protection.

Shalmelo was detained in connection with the aforementioned arrests, but has been released due to "insufficient evidence".

Although, what's up with Shalmelo in the narration?
Seems to me that being released due to "insufficient evidence" is something that would happen to a snitch.
Unless maybe we have a loose cannon cop running around.

Sounds like a guarded kill attempt or a sneakily-narrated roleblock to me.

  • discriderdiscrider Registered User regular
I don't think it's a roleblock. Or at least not a Favor fueled one.
That'd be way too harsh a mechanic on the snitches.
And is four kills a day viable with this number of players?

"Protective custody" could be a thing, but that would be a Snitch aligned power.

  • AuralynxAuralynx Darkness is a perspective Watching the ego workRegistered User regular
Depending on the size of the mafia, how fast Obi wants the game to end and whether it's really four kills a day or some people who started with extra favor creating a crossfire, that's not an impossible Day 1 scenario, but it's a heck of a read on guarding Shalmelo if so.

T-proposal, revised: It seems close to certain there's a snitch in the Gizzy wagon somewhere. If you're casting a vote just to fish for favor, it should probably be on one of those players.

Is the chance that any particular player on the Gizzy wagon is a snitch notably higher than the chance that any random player is one? If so, why do you think that? Just because it was a late wagon?

  • AuralynxAuralynx Darkness is a perspective Watching the ego workRegistered User regular
Because it was a late wagon on a regular Org member. I rather doubt everyone on there is one, but I'd guess we're looking at 1 or 2 in 7 there, versus, what, 3 or 4 in 19 outside it?

Admittedly, my math is good enough to see that our odds are better in the raw off the wagon, but it's a lot harder to cover the other 19 in votes.

I don't see anything too peculiar in the late Gizzy wagon, that is like the last 3 people.
Seems to me to have been a late village rush on someone so that they don't cause a tie.
Ebum was third vote on in self-preservation too.

If anything, I'm looking at the people who didn't follow MrT's lead and voted second on wagons, and so am still happy with my Drez vote and I'm looking at Phyphor's one word second vote on Gizzy very suspiciously.

You've also got INATP and Langly who voted for each other, which may be a ploy if the Snitches want roleblocks early and run off the same Favor system as Org players.

But chances are it's day 1 analysis and I have everything wrong anyway.

I vaguely recall you having a hard on for me in some other phalla, discrider, in the days of yore.

I don't really care if you vote for me or not, but let's be clear here. Yes, I was the second vote for MrT. Are you suggesting that a single vote on someone is a bandwagon? Do you know what a bandwagon is?

As for not following MrT's lead, uh, I still don't recommend it. No offense to him, but I'm not really interested in playing in some boring mathematical way. You might as well just replace me with Geth and program him to vote a certain way every day. I mean, it may come to that in the end, but not now.

If it makes me suspicious to you that I'd prefer not to blindly follow the plan of someone on Day One who we know nothing about and without understanding all the powers at play, then all I can say is: lol.

    Tch.
2 people might not be a very large wagon, but it was the size of the leader at the time.
Just because a wagon doesn't get wheels doesn't make it not a wagon. It just makes whoever's trying to push it look a bit silly.

    What?

Try making sense, please. The size of the leader? I must have missed where it wasn't day one and MrT was somehow more important than anyone else on day one.

Annnnway, that's all I'm going to say on this. Not going to get dragged into a distracting debate with you over nonsense.

yeah my read of that is we didn't have a vig kill, sounds like shalmelo was guarded from it. Doesn't mean anything other than that he was guarded. I guess our guard is like a high-powered lawyer.

  • kimekime Queen of Blades Registered User regular
Langly, I was thinking along those same lines. Just seems a bit weird actually that our vig would also arrest people, but it's possible.

We also just may not have a vig, given the chance of having several a few days from now.

That's a pretty good and scary thought.

But I kind of doubt it? Obi's done stuff like that before, but this game seems to be focusing on other mechanics.

It might be the case that the primary and secondary kills go through no matter what and there is a tertiary kill that only triggers in certain conditions. There has to be some balancing factor to potentially the entire village having a one-shot seer.

  • kimekime Queen of Blades Registered User regular
The balancing factor is that it'll be hard for that to ever happen, and it's possible the village will never have a seer. Or vig.

I think the balancing factor is that the mafia know who is getting close to having a seer and can kill them off any time they want unless someone else also knows they're close to a seer and decides to guard them.

My friend is working on a roguelike game you can play if you want to. (It has free demo)
  • kimekime Queen of Blades Registered User regular
And we don't necessarily know if we are getting close to a seering or not, so yeah.

Maybe an SK or a neutral Hunter type role that is looking for a specific role or has specific conditions that have to be met for their kill to actually kill.

Based on the combination of the narration and the PM I received from Obi, it appears that I was targeted by a FBI-aligned roleblock. I guess it's sort of flavorful for the target of that to be public....odd.
