my cat has started constantly preening * solved* thanks
My cat is 6. over the last week seems to be constantly preening itself. I know cats spend like 14 hours a sleep and 3 hours preening a day (or something like that) but over the last week it seems constant. He doesn’t even walk far without stopping for a preen. Maybe 3 or 4 feet then stops again. He is an indoor cat. And has also recently been wormed and spot on flea treatment. (2 or 3 weeks ago). His coat seems fine. He’s not ripping out chunks of fur or bighting. No bald spots. No scabs, no scratches. He seems a little tired. But I think that’s coz he’s not sleeping he’s just spending all his time preening. Also ive tried distracting him with treats and normally he’s crazy for biscuits. But when I put them on the floor he carries on preening and only after a little internal battle will break off and eat them. Then strait back to it. he must have the mother of all hairballs in him. He is preening all over and not just one spot. Wondered if anyone had any clue. As all the google brings up is things where cats are ripping fur out of them selves. And a bit reluctant to go to the vets and pay for them to tell me I have a clean cat.

Not a vet but off the top of my head it could be stress or allergies. If you don't know of any major changes in the cat's life that could cause the former then it's probably the latter.
Solved. Turns out he's some how got fleas. Despite. Being a house cat. Never going out in 5 years. And haveing flea and worm treatment 2 weeks a go. And never comming into contact with other animals. Ta people.

A vet can give you laxitone to help with the hairballs
most cats can deal with the hair ingestion, but if its excessive then you can counter with special food/laxitone
we also talk about other random shit and clown upon each other
