Any new info on "Limbo"?

I've been checking up on the site (limbogame.org), but haven't heard anything. It looks like a flash game, but I'd love to see a a downloadable PC or console version of this. Here are some shots of the teaser and concept art for those whose are interested (doesn't break the h-scroll for me, but let me know if it does):

limbogame.jpg

UPDATE 4/11/07: I found out the creator is a Danish dev named Arnt Jensen. He's done work on Freedom Fighters (EA) and Hitman 2 (Eidos). The Limbo site was created in September 2006 and updated this last January. In October he put out an advertisement to hire a C++ Programmer to work on the project. But how is an Indie dev to come up with the money?

Here's the kicker: Arnt has been funded by the Danish Government to create the game!

I reaaaally like the visual style. I hope it's for the PC, but the shape of the shots remind me of the PSP screen size.

Does it remind anybody else of that Flashback game on the SNES? I think that's what it was called, at least. Hard as hell, nifty visual style, lasers and big grunting alien dog things that tore your larynx out.

Yeah, the gameplay actually reminds me more of the prequel, "Another World" (or "Out of this World"), for the Amiga. Both are cinematic action mixed with platforming. Stylistically, it kind of reminds me ICO as both have very detailed artistic qualities and direction as well as a sense of barreness.

There was a similar title on the PS1 that this made me think of too. I think it was called Heart of Darkness. Love the art style on those pics though. Hope it makes it out.

I remember that game - it was pretty fancy, especially with all the death animations. Nothing like being ripped to pieces by shadow demons in the first five minutes of a game, especially when your character's a ten year old boy.

That art looks pretty fancy, and a monochrome style might be really interesting, especially if it frees up processing power for other effects.

I don't think grey scale actually helps that much at all with processing power. I could be wrong but I think it's all much of a muchness

Those pictures compare the in-game stuff with the concept art to show how close it is to what they are planning. The stuff on the right is the concept-art, and the stuff on the left is in-game.

Houk, have you watched the teaser video on the site? I highly recommend checking it out --> Limbogame.org. I would say that there are what looks to be some gameplay clips, though it could be similar to the NICO concept video from Ueda. It'll probably be chunky at first (it always is for me with firefox), but after it completes click it again and it should play completely smooth.

Also, I found out who the dev is and more... Check OP.

Heart of Darkness was the direct sequel to Out of this World, right? All those games kicked major ass, but were hard as nails. I remember the frustration Out of this World would heap on me.

Sorry, I guess it's a spiritual prequel. Same creators, is what I meant to say.

Flashback: The Quest for Identity and Out of this World (Another World) were completely different games, by different people. Neither had prequels, either. Flashback had a sequel called Fade to Black, and Out of this World had a follow up called Heart of the Alien.

Heart of Darkness was yet another side-scrolling action adventure game, not at all related, but was most excellent.

Erm, Flashback and Out Of This World were both developed by Delphine, so they are somewhat related. You're right that none of them had prequels though.
