Rick Snyder might lose his spot as governor here in Michigan. That would make me pretty happy. He hasn't really done a single thing that I agree with, beyond the emergency city manager stuff that got pushed through during the (ongoing) Detroit crisis back in 2008/2009.
I don't think Fred Upton will ever lose his seat in the House, but I think it's time for him to go as well. He's had the seat for 21 years! Not really sure where the race is going between Peters and Land, hope Peters can hold onto his seat in the Senate.
Local elections will either seen the 2 guys that voted to keep my father employeed get re-elected, or a pair of guys that are actively being supported by the 3 that voted to give my dad the boot get the spots. These are the same 3 council members that are now charged with a misdemeanor relating to that very decision. It'll be a fun day down at City Hall tomorrow.

Also my State Senate option is also a Republican running unnapposed. Isn't there like, a log I can vote for instead? Maybe a bear is running?
I'm still going to vote D, since it's only 5% away from the Greens and they're actually going to win

Basically it was a set of 5 stores that were now only reasonably accsessible to people from out of town and extremely dedicated shoppers
At the grocery store they cut the staff by about 1/4 and everyone who worked their had their hours cut by half
I had my summer wages become basically nothing and traffic is now an even bigger headache because woops turns out roundabouts suck when semis go through them every ten minutes
well yeah if you've got a road with regular freight traffic, roundabouts are a bad idea
the best places to put them are in residential areas, to replace four-way stop signs

What threw me for a loop was that I got 57% for Libertarians on immigration issues. So I looked at the break down the site gave me and it basically boiled down to "when these guys aren't being crazy pants about the economy and the free market you (with caveats) agree with them".
I'd never really looked into Libertarian policies since I'd never vote for them because of their economic policies, so that was interesting.
Also it told me I should move to Evanston, IL, so that's a thing.
it's my understanding that a lot of the "libertarians" you see these days are just Republicans trying to make themselves look hip. the actual Libertarian Party is in some ways too far left for the Republican party, such as opposing the death penalty, opposing the war on drugs, and opposing restrictions on abortion.
however, they still think that "free market solutions" for health care, education, and the environment are a good idea, so they're still pretty crazy.

Sounds about right. Apparently for the one spot in my state that I didn't have anybody to match up with (state assembly I think), they recommended I move to NYC.
Today is election day, so check the various links in the OP (or just Google it) to see when your polls open and close. Also some states require photo ID, which is shitty but a reality for now, so make sure you bring a driver's license or some such when heading out.
Please vote! I know the forecast is grim, but there are still some tight races out there. This is not an all-or-nothing game, and the damage of a GOP Senate can be mitigated by making their majority as small as possible. Not to mention that local races also matter, perhaps more so than national stuff.

I really wish America had a more diverse political system than the two major parties. I mean yeah in theory we do (if you wanna be a pedantic ass about it) but the first-past-the-post two party thing is getting pretty old yo.
I get to vote in my new town for the first time! The most interesting race in Massachusetts is for governor, where neither of the candidates is all that great.

No on 2, which is about expanding the bottle deposit we have to pay here per can. I don't even like the existing deposit law.
Yes on 4, which requires paid sick time for all workers.
Huh. I didn't even know that Eddie Markey was running for reelection. Media didn't even mention it, but I guess it's because his Republican opponent is such a joke.

With regard to 1, I feel that I'm generally in favor of the gas tax, but I feel more comfortable if my current representatives show their vote for the tax every few years, and give an explanation to their constituents why they voted for it and what it will be used for than to have it increase without any explanation from our reps.
But admittedly I'm still torn on 2. I agree with you about the existing law, and my original thought was just to bring everything under the law rather than the piecemeal thing that we currently got. But maybe it's better the other way.
3: I don't trust that organized crime will leave the casinos alone, but on the same token that's no reason to block the casinos.
4: Yeah, sick time is totally necessary. I don't buy the arguments that people will abuse it, because employers were already abusing it, so it's not like any system is immune to abuse.

I'm well aware that I'm on the losing team this election. I'm throwing my vote to a 3rd party candidate for governor and voting against a very long term senator, both of which are lost causes. It's too bad, we've elected independent candidates in the past in Maine, but this wasn't the year I guess.
I'm voting in Arizona mostly to make this place bluer. If I can force the repubs to have to spend money here that's more money that's not going to Florida and Ohio
it is. sales tax hurts the poor more because they have to spend a larger % of their income on basic necessities so their cost of living goes up compared to higher earners. it's a lot like a flax tax, which is why republicans love it.

Yeah, when I saw that policy question on the ISideWIth website, it seemed sketchy, but I didn't make the connection to a flat tax.
Voted out Tom Corbett and two republicans were running unopposed so I voted for Carol Danvers and Howard T Duck. Because theres no reason they shouldnt have been challenged
