I have recently started painting a few minis for my home D&D games and wasnt really sure what I was doing.

I was hoping someone might be able to link a good tutorial for someone starting out with miniature painting. My roommate has alot of the stuff (i.e. files, paints, primers) but he works 3rd shift and I dont really have alot of time to sit down and have him teach me.

Please remember I am a complete novice and would greatly apprciate any pointers.

I used to paint minis when I had time for hobbies - the one tip I would stress off the bat is to paint the pieces before you put them together (if they aren't solid figues of course)

You may want to post this in the Of Dice and Men forum. It's dedicated to just this kind of tabletop gaming question/discussion.

Actual advice: Find some tutorials online. I like www.brushthralls.com, but then I play WarMachine. They have numerous painting/construction tutorials that are extremly helpful.

Also, practice. If you have some cheap minis (heh) onhand use them. I understand that the Warhammer Skull Pass set has a crapload of minis in it for like 40 bucks. Even if you're not interested in the armies represented, it's a good price for practice pieces.

currently I am working on a Large sized Minotaur. It has 4 pieces (body, head, left and right arms). I have been filing down some of the mold lines and getting it ready to paint.

I'd recommend throwing some photos of your work into the thread before it gets closed. Just a thought.
