Guardians clearly knows that most people are coming in from the movie, but they don't seem beholden to any kind of canon with the MCU, which I'm fine with.
GotG Part 1:
Although if they just casually killed off Thanos between movies and said 'Oh yeah, the Guardians killed him in the game, you all missed that part', that'd be hilarious.
Like with Batman, they're taking the basic start that everyone knows, then going their own way. It's the best way to keep players from assuming they know how it's all going to go.
Idle thoughts but something I think could have made for a great choice based Batman game? Spend the season breaking Bruce down. Kill Bat family members. Force choices between saving innocents and allies, reveal his identity whatever it takes. Then end with the final choice being wheter Bruce can follow his one rule or he kills the one responsible.
I firmly think it wouldn't work in any other media because that choice would have to be the player in Batman's shoes.

Batman fans are stupid and constantly desire for Batman to break his rules though. Hence the fanbase that actually does exist for BvS.

Fair. Although hey. Give them the choice and you make that segment happy. And the rest of us get to experience one of Batman's defining characteristics. Refusing to kill when it would be so easy.

Question to all the people who picked Jane
Season 3 spoilers:
How do you feel about the portrayal of Kenny and Jane in Season 3? To me it feels like the writers are Kenny supporters, or at least very Kenny biased. Kenny is written to be Lee 2.0 in the flashbacks, and Jane's flashbacks are... less than flattering.
Captain Backlog is plowing through Telltale Batman. I'm at the first part of chapter four so far, and while I love the ability to be Bruce Wayne and leverage both personas differently to get maximum results, I'm still waiting for my careful balance to really start paying off. I hope it does?
At any rate, maybe I'm expecting too much realism from a series starring a guy who fights crime while dressed as a flying rodent, but I'm not sure I can recover my investment after the big crock of stupid that was the Big Bad reveal.
Vicki Vale? Seriously? That's enough of a stretch in a vacuum, but she was very publicly kidnapped by the Children of Arkham and forced to do things against her will (supposedly). Any reasonable person would then look at her subsequent fawning interview with her own kidnapper and go "what the fuck." Never mind the police would be instantly on her to find out what she knows, if not immediately suspect her of being part of the group.
Also they could have done a vastly better job of setting up Penguin's qualifications, let's say.
On the plus side, I really like how the relationship with Selena has been handled so far, and the guest appearance by early-career John Doe was well done.

Haven't played season 3, but
it was obvious the writers were Kenny supporters in season 2.
Which was a shame, because the manner of Kenny's portrayal is really influenced by player experiences in Season 1. My Kenny was a raging asshole. So when he came back in S2 and it was supposed to be this "oh, here's this wonderful guy you should go with him!" and my reaction was "fuck that, let's think about this some."
Also, toss me in the pile of TftB being the best TTG game to date, and while I'd played Borderlands I wasn't wedded to the story. My sister played it on my recommendation, after not liking FPS at all and she also loved it to the point of asking me seriously whether she might want to try the Borderlands games proper.

Supports my (somewhat contentious) theory on S2.
I think S3 is written with the public's reaction to S2 in mind. A lot of people were horrified that (S2 Spoiler)
Jane was willing to hide the baby in order to show that Kenny is off the deep end. Personally, I prefer going with Jane because Kenny is far, far too gone by the end of Season 2, and the choices I made portray Kenny like a complete Jackass throughout all of S1 and S2. Kenny is much better off in this world just biting the bullet IMO.
That's interesting, I just saw a reddit thread on /r/games saying that it was massively disappointing. I still have to play episode 4 and 5, but episode 3 was pretty bad IMO so I'm taking my time to finish it.

That's a valid point, because the episode changes significantly based on your choices it's possible to get a bunch of loose ends that don't get resolved. I was actually quite miffed until I took to YouTube and saw that it was actually my fault.
That's cool. I know lots of people didn't love Minecraft, but I enjoyed it more than most of what Telltale has put out recently. It was lighthearted and cute.
By the way, how is Telltale's Game of Thrones series? It's free on PS+ in July, but I've heard so much grumbling about it.
It suffers from the issues that most of that era of Telltale games do in that whatever decisions you make in one chapter by the end of the current one or start of the next the decision is instantly invalidated in some way or negated. And it has the wonderful needless cruelty of GoT on top of that for extra bleakness. I got to the end of chapter 4 and just stopped because it was just too much.
Pretty much. They do nail the "feel" of Game of Thrones 100%, and at first it really seems like you're playing/living an episode direct from the TV show. But it quickly becomes apparent that the choice you make are 100% meaningless and the entire thing is going to spin out of control and end badly for everyone. (Which it is, and does.)
Recently played The Walking Dead: Michonne. Imo, this was better than The Walking Dead S2. Having a consistent character who makes sense as the lead helps a lot. It makes a shit ton more sense to have a group defer to the confident badass Michonne than the small, injured child Clementine. And making choices in the frame of mind "What Would Michonne Do?" was a great role playing experience. The choice at the end of episode 2 I found extremely straightforward for example. Compared to recent Telltale, this one is FAR less interested in pushing you into "Gotcha!" moments, which was the entire game of TT GoT, for example. The choice from the end of episode 2 can work out AMAZINGLY in the end, it was great.
More of this, less of GoT in future, Telltale.

I just finished A New Frontier. The last episode was super buggy for me, lots of graphics glitches, bad sound queues, dead characters still walking around in scenes when they shouldn't be.
The story was okay, but I gotta be honest. All I cared about was Clem and helping her. Then I wanted to help Kate as much as I could. And then I hated David completely. In that order. I'm not sure where I'd rank it in line with the other walking dead games. It might be worse than S2 for me. I'm just pretty "eh" about the whole season.
I feel like alot of Game of Thrones 3rd party works kind of miss the point. Even the show to an extent but they have George and his notes to keep them on track.
Martin almost never kills anything but minor characters just for the sake of it. Despite his reputation he doesn't have a dart board for killing off characters. Occasionally he'll kill off a character who's served their narrative purpose but usually the death itself affects the plot in some major way.
I'm also playing through Game of Thrones, and I think the nature of GoT is exacerbating the problems Telltale games have. I know how GoT plays out, where if you pick the nice or honorable option you'll get fucked by the world. And the game knows this, because at damn near every fucking turn the story is saying "Just roll with the shit for now, even if you have to lie and grit your teeth through it, just bend over and you'll totally get your comeuppance later". Yet the bad guys are so cartoonishly evil and just pure fucking pricks for no reason, and if you pick the "bend over" option the answer is still just as hostile had you picked the "fuck you" choice. I'm at chapter 3 and I'm just about at the point where I figure I might as well just pick the most aggressive options now. Because if I'm going to get anally fucked either way, I might as well pick the option that allows for some catharsis.

Jane's death is dumb for a bad reason. It also gives too easy of an excuse for "Well, Clem HAS to leave now."
So I completed the first episode of The Walking Dead: Michonne on my Windows 10 machine a few days ago. Today, when I went to launch the application, my save is gone.
Is there a fix for this? what's the deal? Really don't want to run through the first episode a second time.

Common issue with Telltale games. Look around the web, there should be a fix somewhere.
Yeah that one's hit me a couple of times. The other times I managed to pull my save off of another system thanks to steam syncing my saves. But I ended up losing episode 1 of New Frontier. Ended up just continuing from episode 2.
Counter productively I'm pretty sure it was Telltale's cloud saving that botched my save file. I miss having unlimited save slots.
I've wished more then once that steam would use some of that 100mb of cloud storage they include per game and let you restore to an old save.
I looked and the saves are pretty much gone. Never ran into this issue when I played the console versions. I just have to start at Episode 2 and move forward. Bit of a damper on my return to playing their games again, but eh. :pop:
Important piece from that article (bold is mine):
Looking further out, Telltale also revealed that a fourth — and final — season of its critically acclaimed Walking Dead series is also in the works, and is expected to debut some time next year. While the game’s third season went in a somewhat different direction, introducing a brand-new lead character, Telltale says that the final chapter will once again put players in the role of series heroine Clementine as she makes her way through the grim and grisly world of the undead.
I skipped the third season of it. Looks like I might pick up the last one.

So excited for wolf among us. My favorite telltale series.
That's not how you spell Tales from the Borderlands...
It's cause Wolf > Tales.
Edit - I just prefer Wolf because it's more serious in a really, really fantastic setting. Tales is also great, but mainly because it's so over the top ridiculous and faithful to its source. Like it's basically slapstick humor. But a noire detective series where I'm playing as The Big Bad Wolf is just so incredibly up my alley.
Bought the Telltale Humble bundle to try the GoT one, so sad reading it's kinda of a disappointment. Thought it might be the kind of game my GF likes.
Maybe will try with Wolf.

There's a huge quality disparity in writing, choices, and style when going from Wolf to GoT. Definitely play GoT first if you want to. Playing Wolf first will make GoT feel like a slog.

They're too busy doing more Minecraft: Story Mode, apparently.
I'd rather see more Borderlands though.

Some people like it, no reason not to try it since you already have it. I mostly liked it until the ending.
One of the big takeaways is that it apparently didn't sell well, so I guess we shouldn't hold our breath for another one.
