What are the prizes/entrance fee? Specifically for ultra street fighter 4

  • zerzhulzerzhul Registered User, Moderator mod
Tournaments that are run by PAX have no entry fee and the prize is a PAX medal saying you won.

Tournaments run by vendors/sponsors are usually not on Brains' list.

What systems are planned for Puzzle Fighter HDR and SSF2THDR? Can we bring our own controllers for those? Great variety BTW!

Both HDR games will be played on 360. We've got controllers, but you may bring your own if you like. Standard controllers are accepted instantly; if you've got a custom controller, we'll ask the audience (and your competition) if they think it's okay.

    Cool, thank you!

I raised this concern in the FAQ thread as well, but essentially the past two You Don't Know Jack! tournaments at Prime have not ended in under two hours, which makes it tough to get to the Omegathon finale if it's Sunday at 3:00. While I understand that it is impossible to prevent overlap at PAX, this seems like a case where it isn't intentional.

Will the Halo 4 tournament be played on Xbox Ones via The Master Chief Collection or on Xbox 360s?

I understand where you're coming from, but as with most things at PAX, you have to choose the things that are most important to you. If the Omegathon final round is where your heart truly lies, then you shouldn't enter the tourney. :/

The plan is to play on 360s. (And at this stage, I really hope the plan doesn't change.)

I'm really looking forward to the YDKJ and the handheld Smash tourneys! I wish there was Pokemon or Tatsunoko vs Capcom but I'm sure I'm the only one on the second one there, haha. Is You Don't Know Jack going to be the Jack Box with phones for controllers or something else?

Howdy! The YDKJ tourney here is on Xbox 360 (and all of these tourneys are on consoles, not handheld).

    High Score: Mode TBD.

Any more info on this yet? Was hoping to get a little practice in if possible, which is tricky if I don't know what to practice.
    Thanks.

I'm not going to make it to PAX South (at least this year), but I was wondering what the formats for the Puzzle Bobble tournaments were going to be this year (South, East, and Prime). Last year, the formats were East and Prime were VERY different. In Seattle, it threw me off for a little bit.

The format for the PAX East tournament can be found in the notes to the video here: www. youtube. com/watch?v=Z87nV1Xsm38.
The format for the PAX Prime tournament can be found in the notes to the video here: www. youtube. com/watch?v=38oZKFXGWc0.

In particular, at East, you could use any of the 8 drop patterns. At Prime, everyone was required to use A-pattern.

Whatever the format, good luck to everyone who participates.

Thanks to everyone involved in putting these tournaments on, I went to quite a few of them and had a good time at each. Looking forward to seeing what games are played next year.

I'd like to give a special shout out to @Tektonikk‌ for all the work he put into the tournaments he was overseeing. He was very patient, courteous, and accommodating for anyone who wanted to participate, but at the same time extremely efficient and organized, ensuring that his tournaments were completed quickly and that everyone was satisfied. It also helped that he was knowledgeable and skilled at the games being hosted, as he was able to comprehend small nuances of the game mechanics and make judgment calls that might have perplexed other tournament organizers.

Big kudos, @Tektonikk‌, I hope you continue to make PAX fun for everyone!

I would just like the stated time to be accurate, then. I think we wound up finishing 45-50 minutes late.
