The Fate Pot
Any player can suggest a compel for another player if they feel it is appropriate, if it doesn't benefit them, from a general Fate Point Pool that is infinite and separate from my own pool. These compels are negotiable and don't have the usual must-pay-in-return to buy them off. You can suggest these compels even if your character isn't in the vicinity; it's to encourage a more directorial attitude and because I may miss good compels sometimes, so having you guys able to put them forward means more flowing of Fate points! That being said, all the usual caveats apply, I may step in and add conditions to offered compels just to ensure they've got teeth.
If at the end of the day the Fate pot compel doesn't work for someone just let it go and move forward.
First off, sorry all. I've been silent here for too long. Been doing other things and lacking roleplaying mojo when I did have time to sit down and look at this.
But I agree with the above quotes.
So I propose...
2nd Adventure: Spirit of Murders Past
An old friend from James's past turns up looking for help and seeking sanctuary. From the man, James hears a story of some dark thing hunting and killing made men each night. Once James starts digging, he runs up against the Detroit Combination's go-to man for these sorts of happenings, Marco Conti. After a bit of a rocky introduction, the two men find they're working towards the same goal and make a tenuous peace. With Marco's help, James succeeds in uncovering the truth of the murders. A vengeful spirit had latched onto the tears shed because of and blood spilt by the made men of the Combination and had grown strong enough to begin exacting its own twisted idea of justice on citizens of Detroit. This lead to James and Marco battling the spirit in its demesne, a shadow filled copy of a Detroit street, where streetlights strained to hold back the dark and things scrabbled beyond the pools of smoke-filtered light.
Guest Star: Marco Conti
Aspect: Leadeth me down righteous paths.

EDIT: So with the above, the below would be the final draft of my character.
High Concept: Soldier of the Lord
The old saying goes, "There's no aethists in foxholes," and before serving in the army James Malone would have called it just that: an old saying. Only after he'd seen combat did James learn his Irish Catholic upbringing had stuck harder than he'd have ever thought. Not long after his first taste of combat, James was taken in and mentored by his unit's chaplain. Once out of the army, he came back home to Detroit and found his city under siege from within and without. Given his skills and history, he felt compelled to work to save Detroit and the souls of the city's people.
Trouble: Thou Shalt Not Kill
Backstory: Ran with a bad crowd.
Growing up in a bad neighborhood, it's small wonder young James fell in with the wrong crowd. Things came to a head when the then nearly 18 year old Malone boy was caught in a burglary attempt. He was given a choice: be tried as an adult and face hard time or enlist in the army and be tried as a minor.
1st Adventure: There's some fight left in this dog.
Having recently been released from the army, James was adjusting back to civilian life, trying to find where in Detroit he belonged. He felt lost and alone. It's only when he stumbled across something abducting children that he was snapped out of his funk. Calling upon skills learned as a juvenile delinquent and honed in the army, James Malone took out a lone ghoul that was taking kids into the Detroit sewers and eating them down in the dank and the dark. Down there in the deep, James found his faith had power. Now knowing that there was this huge unknown world of monsters and magic, James took a vow to protect the innocent from what lurked in the shadows.

What's your day job? Harry Dresden's first case file is motivated in no small part by paying bills. How do you get by?
No man's an island, who do you trust without question?
And lastly, if you were holding a gun to another man's head, what crime would that person have to be guilty of to make you pull the trigger?
Same with answers to the above questions.

Being a high profile athlete Phillip has sound investments that allow him to live comfortably. He divides his time between work for various charities, public appearances, and working on his master's degree.
2) No man's an island, who do you trust without question?
His physical therapist Katie Smythe, they became friends after his knee was destroyed. He was in a bad place and she helped him get out of it.
3) And lastly, if you were holding a gun to another man's head, what crime would that person have to be guilty of to make you pull the trigger?
This is the one that was the hardest for me to answer honestly. Phillip isn't one for killing people, I mean he killed a couple of turtlenecks during his adventures in the Fomor caves but they were barely human and that was life or death. The usual awful things would disgust him of course. Murder, rape, and scumbags who hurt kids would all be on the list of people Phillip wouldn't mind seeing on the wrong end of a hockey stick. If Lloyd Slate was still alive he would be the type of person that could drive Phillip to cross that line, but it would be a big deal.

1) What's your day job? Harry Dresden's first case file is motivated in no small part by paying bills. How do you get by?
James gets by working as a groundskeeper and handyman of a church in the neighborhood he grew up in. He preaches some, in his and other churches. Between his duties at his home church, travelling to other churches, and donating his time to various charities James stays busy.
2) No man's an island, who do you trust without question?
James is a trusting soul. He’d trust any of his old squad unquestionably. The Preacher of the church he works at has earned James’s respect and trust. James would even trust some of the crew he ran in as a kid. Trust them to be scoundrels maybe, but trust them nonetheless.
3) And lastly, if you were holding a gun to another man's head, what crime would that person have to be guilty of to make you pull the trigger?
The long and the short of it is: James doesn’t kill. But let’s assume he would … the only thing that would even tempt him to cross that line would be some inhuman monster that had already killed, revelled in it, showed no remorse about killing, and would kill again if not stopped.

Ostensibly, Marco Conti's a driver on the payroll of Ambassador Limousine & Town Cars; one of the legitimate fronts for the Combination. He isn't cut from the same cloth as his old man though; Marco's bread and butter comes from being a heavy for "Big Top" Esposito, taking on the hard nuts who need extra work to get the vig flowing again. When there's money that should be coming the Combination's way, Marco makes sure that it gets there.
2: No man's an island, who do you trust without question?
Marco believes in the Combination and Boss Esposito, but his absolute trust goes to Malia Belenky, friend from the block who headed in a different direction. Now a line cook, Marco drops by every so often to just hang out with a Thermos of something nice and hot.
3: And lastly, if you were holding a gun to another man's head, what crime would that person have to be guilty of to make you pull the trigger?
They would have to be guilty of working against the Combination with no chance of being subverted or their potential value in the future being alive being far outweighed by their value being dead. Marco isn't under any illusion that he's a good man or even an moral one, but he'll be damned if he throws away his professional ethics.
Alice is a curator of European renaissance art at the DIA. She's responsible for maintaining the museum's collection, as well as looking for new pieces to acquire.
2. No man's an island, who do you trust without question?
Her uncle and mentor, James Hallion. He was largely responsible for most of Alice's wizardly training in her teenage years, and she respects him greatly.
3. And lastly, if you were holding a gun to another man's head, what crime would that person have to be guilty of to make you pull the trigger?
Alice is a great believer in the "eye for an eye" principle. So, murder, obviously. Being a Wizard of the White Council, egregiously breaking any of the laws would also be enough for her.
