Darkest Dungeon - The Deepest Wounds Leave No Scars
I just don't recruit people if they have bad negative quirks. the sanitarium isn't that bad to scrub people if they have decent positives. if they don't have any good positives and a couple negatives I'll usually boot them after a few runs. the curious ones and klepto are the worst for me, because they they either steal stuff that would pay for their treatment or they rack up a bunch of negatives off curios.
So without thinking I click Wyrd Reconstruction 5 in the guild on my Occultist, essentially increasing his companion bleed dmg by 50% for absolutely no gain at all.
I might as well retire this fuck, wasting the ~15k I've spent on him.
beat the necromancer lord. wasn't easy since I still only have level 4 armor, but my 54 dodge man at arms did admirably. arbalist, vestal, grave digger, man at arms party for my first batch of 6s.
I'm just saying guys, team blight has beaten the collector before he gets to move on three consecutive occasions. I surprised him last time. It felt like bullying.

Okay, I need a break down on how this works. Maybe it's because my highest level guys are only at 4 and I haven't invested a lot of time in DoTs yet but that seems like insane damage output. How in the world are you getting the damage up that high?
For the collector: first turn jester used finale, hopefully for a crit and goes to the back. Front abomination transforms and ravages. Second abomination uses chains, doctor throws down a blight. Collector is stunned and doesn't move.
Second turn jester uses buff song, both abominations transform and ravage, pd blights again. If anyone crits the collector is done. Wouldn't work on champion, but lower ones will get burned down fast.

It's worth noting that champion level adventurers have an innate bleed resistance higher than the bleed chance of Wyrd Reconstruction 5, so under normal circumstanses the chance of it causing bleed should be close to 0. Negative quirks, trinkets and debuffs can affect this, however.

Hmmm... alright, yeah, I can get into this. I've clearly got to start retraining myself to use less brute force parties (Vestal + offense) and go to more interesting ones. Jesters, for example, I haven't done much with, and the abomination has been limited since I rarely go out without a vestal. I've got a few sub-level 3 slots open, time to sack what's there and try some new stuff.
Jester scales weirdly. His debut isn't great at low levels, but by the time you get to champion it wrecks. His dodge levels at high levels also make him a good evasion tank. At champion I think you should really switch out the doctor for an occultist though. It only takes one bad crit before your jester or doctor are potentially fucked. Occultist also has a camp skill that protects against ambushes.
I thought about replacing the jester with a helion to take out rank 4 fast, but honestly if I wanted a tough broad who gives great access to the back row I'd call your mum.

I was assuming that the debuff would get resisted too often. I've yet to see an enemy with a debuff resist below 50%, and Solo has pretty low accuracy. You're not wrong though, most of the Jester's abilities scale incredibly well. The buff is better (and more needed) the higher difficulty you play, and the stress heal gets stronger and stronger since stress stays a 0-200 scale through all of the difficulties.
I just downed my first champion boss, the Swine God, but at great cost. My best Hellion was killed in possibly the most humiliating way possible, by being waved at by a tiny, angry piglet.
Yes, she survived being hit by the fifteen feet tall pig monster only to lose the very first deathblow resist roll of her career to Wilbur's marking ability.

Doesn't every roll have at least a guaranteed minimum chance for "success" or something, like 10% or so? I just can't see the +2 top range addition, going from WRc 4 to 5, mattering at all, and 9 dmg instead of 6 is noticeable. Just throw him Junia's Head.
I hope you're right though, I'm in the middle of trying to get a Vestal to 5. Having her in pos2 and just spam Divine Comfort seemed to be the way to do healing at higher levels...

Shame on an otherwise successful expedition! Had a HM go the exact same way, the little bacon fucker WILL go first.
I got dunked on a lot this evening, but no member of team blight died. I think the only random thing I really hate in this game is random shambler. It's super horseshit, and kills your run completely. The risk vs reward mechanic is thrown off when a dice roll can kill your game.

Took the Jester through a couple of short runs. Still not using him right, but we'll see if I can figure it out. Had to abandon an expedition to the Hag, just too much stress to try that fight. Did have a successful run against the Veteran Prophet though, so woo progress. Stress and quirk management is starting to become an expensive problem though.

I kinda wish stress would go down just a little by just not taking dudes on adventures
Like, really? I really have to be the one to foot your bar/prosititute tab just so that I can throw you back into the ruins of my former estate? Get a hobby, knit something or some shit

Everyone who isn't in the pub or the church or the asylum when you go into a dungeon just stands around outside staring upwards with their mouths open, if it rains they'll drown
Do you like my photos? The stupid things I say? The way I am alive? You can contribute to that staying the same through the following link

Oh. Well then I just haven't been paying enough attention.
This game is deep!

Vestal healing scroll plus the rare head means I essentially can't die unless I get back to back spear crit or treebranch smackdowned with a dot

I've never gotten a random shambler
Is there like, a trigger for that?
Try running around in the dark.
There still has to be a corridor encounter, neither Shambler nor Collector shows up out of thin air. If you've scouted or already explored corridors you'll see where shitfuckers are and walking into them while meeting the conditions (pitch black/~60% full inventory) have a chance to spawn minibosses.

It's hardly noticeable though, like a 50% chance for 5-10 stress relief or something like that. When your hamlet/week report screen loads after doing a quest you'll see some people in the rooster have a little stress relief flash around their portraits.
I just had a run where the team motto could have been 'Do the minimum'
Practically half of all attacks were misses. When I did hit, the damage practically always the minimum. When it did hit harder, it practically always left them at 1 hp. All attempts to debilitate the enemy was met with resists.

Ran into a Collector in a prescouted hallway with no encounter listed (And had to flee the encounter and run)
I finally did the 12 pounder. people don't respect the leper's damage enough, get that guy buffed up with revenge and he will be swinging for 30+ damage
Hehe, Tube's double Abom-team took out the Swine King like a bawse.
I think one of the Abom's got critted to DD (which was strange as fuck since King was -111%dmg-debuffed at the time, no I never hit Wilbur), but apart from that no trouble at all. I thought I'd try healing up on Wilbur for some curio backtracking. I mean, what could the guy do? Deal 2 damage and stun?
3 rounds later I had to accept that there wasn't gonna be any healing done and I just had to beat the fucker to death. 8 rounds after the King fell I finally put an end to that little shit. 2/3 of those rounds he just straight-up took out my entire team with his party-wide stun.
I lost two jesters today . Need to train up more so I can run TEAM BLIGHT at level six again. Also lost the aria box. I loved that fucking thing. Also a plague doctor. And the orange plague doctor trinket. Fuck the shambler
I uninstalled for a while. I'd like to see what they do with the anti-grinding update, to see if they make acquiring gold less arduous. I'd love it if they killed random minibosses too. Maybe make the collector spawn if you find his secret room, reinforcing the risk/reward element and moving the shambler back to a summon. I can take almost any bullshit the game throws at me, but the whole "you roll a 1, the shambler appears, your run is over" is too much.
My last run involved getting dunked on by the siren (don't bring team blight! abominations are too strong!) and I haven't tried any other champion bosses yet. That'll be fun when I get back.

Finish 100% of room battles and apparently there was only one.

It's subtle and doesn't show up on the weekly report for some reason.
Cannon, prophet and siren down! Man upgrading the town is getting grindy as hell.

It was an incredibly stressful run... for myself
And then to top it off I proved this wrong:
Ran into a Collector in a prescouted hallway with no encounter listed (And had to flee the encounter and run)
I finally did the 12 pounder. people don't respect the leper's damage enough, get that guy buffed up with revenge and he will be swinging for 30+ damage

Then I ran into the giant / witch / fungal artillery combo. And the paranoid guy refused to run away (!?)
Now I have 21 high levels and 4 level 0s
Corpse Explosion when?
