It's really opened my eyes to what a not-great person Dan Akroyd is. Like I know there's been plenty of evidence before this, but nothing I'd really paid attention to. But some of his comments about that movie... yeesh.
I really wish the female GB was just in the same timeline. Making it a relaunch is just dumb.
There's no good reason for it not to be. Make it a real-time continuation. The old Ghostbusters have long since faded into obscurity and now there's something strange going on in someone's neighborhood and they need someone new to call. You could even work in a joke about Bill Murray's aggressive disinterest in the film where they try to call Venkman and he refuses to answer the call.
I kinda hope he does, I think it's necessary that he does it because Hollywood has such an awful track record that they'll probably let Dan Akroyd do his thing.

so I tend to take peoples' stated sexualities as their truth
but on the flip of that, I've known several guys who take their girlfriends downtown on gay pride and end up in a drunken kiss with a burly homosexual and are amazed by how much they didn't hate it
so while it's probably the truth it may not be the whole truth and they may not even be aware of it

That's what bothers me. I don't really see a female led Ghostbusters half staffed by Bridesmaids cast and the same creative person behind it being this huge win for women. I would have much, much preferred a diverse Ghostbusters team in one, well-made flick.
