    Man speaking of Ghost Busters

Fuck them for undermining the new all girl reboot

It's really opened my eyes to what a not-great person Dan Akroyd is. Like I know there's been plenty of evidence before this, but nothing I'd really paid attention to. But some of his comments about that movie... yeesh.

Whoa, really? What did he say?

http://www.avclub.com/article/dan-aykroyd-determined-make-conventional-all-dan-a-215487 is all I can find off-hand, but basically he's one of the underminers of the reboot. I think more out of pro-Akroyd sentiment than specifically anti-woman sentiment but it's not great either way.

I really wish the female GB was just in the same timeline. Making it a relaunch is just dumb.

There's no good reason for it not to be. Make it a real-time continuation. The old Ghostbusters have long since faded into obscurity and now there's something strange going on in someone's neighborhood and they need someone new to call. You could even work in a joke about Bill Murray's aggressive disinterest in the film where they try to call Venkman and he refuses to answer the call.

I wonder what would happen if Bill Murray backs the ladybusters movie/appears in it.

  • nukanuka What are circles? Registered User regular
I kinda hope he does, I think it's necessary that he does it because Hollywood has such an awful track record that they'll probably let Dan Akroyd do his thing.

Nuka needed me to get something off of a high shelf this morning, right after she asked me, she said, "I'm sorry. Wait, I just posted about how I need to stop apologizing for things!"

To which I responded "Hi, Sorry, I'm Dad."

Look on her face was so worth it.

See, I would have pointed out that she was apologizing for apologizing and was dangerously close to a never-ending apology spiral. Dadjoke was probably the wiser move.

Oh hey speaking of which I browse Buzzfeed (whatever) and I found this story there.

If you hate the website and don't want to click on it, this German woman is posting period pads to things with messages like, "imagine if men were as disgusted with rape as they are with periods." and "rapists rape people not outfits."

Of course people are being butts about it, "But that hasn’t deterred Elonë. In response to one critic, she said: “Why the fuck did you just get offended? Because of period pads?”

That's what bothers me. I don't really see a female led Ghostbusters half staffed by Bridesmaids cast and the same creative person behind it being this huge win for women. I would have much, much preferred a diverse Ghostbusters team in one, well-made flick.

The cool thing about the Channing Tatum Ghostbusters is that if I see someone on social media that's really excited about it I know way ahead of time that they're the worst.
