We need feminism because I shouldn't have to pay five bucks to play as a woman in a game that has five guy characters available for free.
I always always always play a female character if there's a choice.
And yet on average I end up having a male character more than half the time because the choice isn't there, and guess which gender I'm forced into.
More games like Beyond Good and Evil, please. More characters like Jade that kick ass because of (not despite) the fact that they're a woman, and without them having to be masculine or play into male sex/power fantasies in the process.
We need feminism because a woman becoming a grandmother raises questions about her running for president that weren't raised for the man who is grandfather several times over.
I... I'm having a real hard time processing this one.
At what fucking point will the world stop thinking up ways for women to "maintain their dignity" and start thinking up ways to stop the actual problems of rape and assault on women and men?

The same time that virginity is no longer an asset.

What am I even thanking these people for! I'm like "thanks!" when I hand them my debit card. I haven't even gotten my terrible food yet! What am I even doing

I used to always play as a woman in games too but I did it because I was still ashamed of being gay. (well and the cooler outfits) It felt "ok" to like guys in the game when I played as a woman.
I don't do that anymore. Now I usually play as guys and then give them lots of makeup. And horns! Except in helldivers, the female marine is just too too awesome.

Today in class I got the highest grade by a large amount and I decided not to be shy about it but be proud of my hard work paying off. Thanks, feminism!
If it's not too personal to ask, what class was it?
Late reply, was in a lecture sorry! Landscape architecture. I got an A+ which is 80+%, didn't specify had to convert. The highest grade you can get here is a first, which is 70% and above so I smashed it. No one else got more than 65%.
:?
Hahaha oh no!!
At the risk of being just another man telling a woman how to "better" herself, might I suggest that you embrace the attitude displayed by Dignam and Ellerby in The Departed a little more?

I didn't even notice. I'm from the American midwest, where polite apologies are practically filler words.

Personally, I justify it as thanking them for having to deal with me in any way. I've done crappy service jobs, and some days I resented the customers for simply existing. Also because when I fail to needlessly thank something I feel this bizarre twinge of guilt. It's sick, when you really think about it.

Luckily there are games with actual gay characters in them nowadays! Not enough, but still!
In Dragon Age Inquisition (character spoilers)
I played a female elf and tried to get it on with Dorian pretty much the whole game. Then his character quest revealed that he's gay and I was blown away that he wasn't made bisexual just in case fans wanted him to swing their particular way; like, he was legit gay and nothing my character did was going to make him go for a woman.
At the risk of being just another man telling a woman how to "better" herself, might I suggest that you embrace the attitude displayed by Dignam and Ellerby in The Departed a little more?
We need feminism because a lawmaker who thinks the vagina is connected to the stomach wants to legislate women's bodies.
What the fuck kind of country do we live in where there's no education requirement to be a politician?
In some places, people fucking celebrate their ignorance. Not knowing a damn thing about the subject you're regulating is practically a requirement for being a politician, in any given subject. It's sickening.

Positive feminism: I am very glad to have so many good female role models. My mother instilled feminist values from a young age even when I didn't always get it, I have a sister who I'm close to who is smart and strong, I have you guys who I can talk to this thing about, and the smartest/most qualified female tutors I have are female and fantastic.

I know, it absolutely blows my mind! Never thought I would see the day but then I never thought I'd see the day homosexuals could get married either.
I guess that goes to show maybe my faith in humanity is a little low.

The vicious protection and lauding of stupidity is something I really hope the US is alone in but I'm sadly sure I'm wrong.

There's a term I can't remember that deals with accuracy of news reporting. The gist is, if you're particularly knowledgeable about a subject, it's really obvious to you when news reports about that subject get it incredibly wrong. And that's most of the time. You can assume, then, that if they're this inaccurate about stuff you know, they're probably equally inaccurate about stuff you don't know. The lesson is, don't trust the analyses given in news reports because the person who wrote it probably doesn't know what they're talking about. I wish we could teach this lesson to people about both journalism and politics, because it applies equally there.

Exactly. Or why I cringe whenever computer tech comes up as a plot point in a show.
Now I feel all period-shamed because my period apparently isn't as easy and carefree as other people's
*cries and hides*
I feel period shamed because I don't get a period and some people think that makes me less of a woman.
This is straight up BULLSHIT
Like it makes me angry, it's such bullshit
Having my period is my least favorite part of being a woman, I certainly wouldn't imply that it's what MAKES me one
I'd be happy to get rid of it honestly
Usually you can - I mean I'm not a doctor but as far as I know there's no reason most people can't just take their birth control straight through without the placebo week (ymmv of course). That 7 days off is just bullshit convention, people in the 70s thought it was 'weird' not to have a period.

I ripped into my classmate last week for using homophobic terms when no one else would. Fuck you guy, I care not for you slinging those terms around.
And today my girl classmate told me she thought I was awesome for not putting up with his shit, so hooray!

But I'm hungry
