That SNES rainbow road race gave me basically nothing but mushrooms, it was all, 'thanks game, but I really, really do not want these on this track with no walls.' You don't even need them for that jump at the end in 200cc!
I find it kinda funny how the queen mushroom goes from being one of the best items in 150cc to being a huge liability in 200cc (with a heavy-weight at any rate).
You don't? :O
Nope, you can just trick off the ramp at full speed and you'll make the gap, or, at least you will with Rosalina on the jet bike, I haven't cared to try with other characters.
I start my drift right before that ramp, hold my drift in the air, and then red spark boost for the last turn. I don't know if this works for outside drift.
I forgot I didn't respond to this. Wednesday is going to be a kind of 150cc.
After this I may just do a regular 150cc week. If the Thursday 200cc tournament stays active I may even drop it from future Wednesdays. No need for 200cc two nights in a row, plus with Sunday that was three times in a week.
@Rehab, depending on what others who are planning to play on Thursday think, can we push the time back a half hour this week? I don't expect to make a 9pm central start, but probably could make 9:30. No big deal if it doesn't change, just thought I'd ask.
In an attempt to improve upon my recent mediocre performance, I've been practicing.
Now I just need everyone else to play like the AI. Also Cheese Land is still butts. Also also don't switch over to 200cc after playing mirror for two hours. It does not end well.

Not gonna make it tonight. Dumb work. Being responsible sucks.
I actually felt bad for you when I saw that happen.
I think Rehab gets best use of a bomb this week for that massive take out on one of the many times around that stupid dragon. I should have braked when I saw where it landed but I though I could avoid it.
I was hoping things might have continues after last week's big turn out but it was back to the regulars. Dirk seemed to have a good night. Is this the end of Yoshi on Yoshi?
I also get worse (best?) instance of bomb-related trauma by boosting (with triple mushrooms) right into Toadette who had a bomb being held behind her. Went from a would-have-been third place finish to something like 7th place.
In the Excitebike race I launched fireballs at Dirk even after I saw he had a Crazy 8. That didn't end well for me. At least he still got to use his star.
So did you all have fun attending Blue Shell-A-Palooza May 2015? I got lucky in that most of the time I got hit it didn't cost me 1st place, but everyone else got screwed. I was pissed when I saw the one targeting skeldare, though not as much as him I bet. Plus there were so many races that had two. It got to the point where I was expecting a race with three.
For “Nintendo 3DS” and “Wii U,” in addition to maintaining the performance of already-released titles with strong sales potential, new titles will continue to be introduced in order to further expand the installed bases. Specifically, by sequentially introducing additional download content for blockbuster titles such as “Mario Kart 8″ and “Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U,” we aim to keep these titles played more actively. For “Nintendo 3DS,” the exclusive “New Nintendo 3DS/New Nintendo 3DS XL” title “Xenoblade Chronicles 3D,” and other first party titles such as “Rhythm Tengoku (temp.)” and “New Fire Emblem Game (temp.)” will be released. In addition, a number of key titles from thirdparty publishers are scheduled for release. For “Wii U,” in addition to titles such as “Splatoon” and “Yoshi’s Woolly World,” “Mario Maker (temp.)” which offers a new taste to the 2D Mario series will be released this year marking the 30th year since the launch of the original “Super Mario Bros.” game.
I'm afraid so. It is unbelievably hard to compete with the heavy riders as a medium or small. Not only do you get knocked around, the speed difference is too great. I hadn't played the new courses that much and not in mirror mode and I did better then I normally do even though I was hitting walls and falling off the track. Besides Roy on Yoshi action is just as fabulous as yoshi on yoshi action.
I was a bit disappointed we didn't manage to race on all the courses. 16 races over only 16 courses is a little tricky to do but we wound up with a lot of duplicates. Here are some replays.
Skeldare rejoined us after some time away. We welcomed him back by blue shelling his chance of victory. He did manage to grab a few third places though. https://youtu.be/XKJCp12cOj0
Dirk2112 had a strong start to his night, managing to steal a last minute first place in the first race of the night. https://youtu.be/IDns6g0rMz8
I did better tonight than I have been doing but it still wasn't enough. I didn't get as many lucky opportunities as I did here. https://youtu.be/oAGY7Mo-zB0
I have a bunch of replay that would be indistinguishable from Corey doing time trials apart of the banana trailing behind him. This was one of the races we made him work for it. https://youtu.be/ypeInoM5Jk4
Holy crap, this isn't frantic mode?? You could've fooled me.
I suspect this was due to how far ahead Corey was getting all night.
Next week will be a standard 150cc/all items round. I'm not sure what craziness I'll come up with after that. I'm open to suggestions.

I can't separate myself from Yoshi on Yoshi yet. still managing sort of okay online and in offline 200cc at least, although really the 200cc grand prix are really easy because the computer is awful at it. I've realized there are so so many turns that aren't even worth trying, you're better off going straight and offroad.
You may never have to abandon that setup in 200cc. Lightweight and middleweight characters can definitely compete at that speed.
cravipat, I knew you wouldn't do it but I was holding on to a little hope that for my replay you'd pretend that it was of me winning, but instead it would be the Neo Bowser City race where I ran into a banana on the final jump and let Toadette beat me. I would have been amused anyway.
My connection is crap again. Arrrghh. Have fun guys.
You should have stuck around. While it's frustrating that I don't think we could hit you with items with the lag so bad, the replays are very entertaining. I call him Drunky Kong.
I don't mind playing with a little lag, but it's just unfair when red shells are cruising past me when I'm in first place. Hopefully I can get this resolved soon.

PA G&T SundayDrivers Tournament -- Week 49
START YOUR ENGINES! Week 49 races begin SUNDAY May 10th from 6 PM to 730 PM Central (7 PM to 830 PM Eastern, 4 PM to 530 PM Pacific, 11 PM to 1230 AM GMT). Come get your race on against fellow Penny-Arcaders!
Based on this week's poll results, The settings poll has been retired. I may open it back up if there is demand for it. Going forward, here are the race settings:
WARNING: If you do not have DLC Pack 1 & 2 installed, NO KART FOR YOU.
MUST GO FASTER
MUST GO FASTER
To join the tournament, simply use Search by Code on the Mario Kart 8 tournament menu, and enter the code 6987-9166-8350. You will only need to do this once -- the tournament will be saved in your favorites after you first join it. Once you have joined, you will also have access to this tournament's own Miiverse community.
Points are accumulated based on race performances during tournament hours. Everyone is capped at a maximum of 16 races each Sunday, so you won't be able to cheese your way to the top of the standings by simply doing more races than everyone else. After each tournament, I will post the standings here. This tournament will stay open until everyone gets sick of it and stops playing.
If you join the tournament outside of the designated race hours, you will be able to race against anyone else who is in the tournament lobby at the time, but your points will not count towards the official tournament standings.
There is no friend list requirement for the tournament. You can race against anybody who joins the tournament, whether they are on your friends list or not!
The tournament lasts for 1.5 hours, and everyone is capped at 16 races. Opponent shuffling is off. CPU opponents have been activated, they will help fill out the races when the room isn't full, and allow you the same point potential in every race.
As always this tournament is open to future changes -- There is a weekly poll for everyone to vote on basic race settings. If you would like to see changes that are not available via the poll, please post your suggestions in this thread.
Upcoming Tournaments
05/03 Week 48: 200cc Normal Items
05/10 Week 49: 200cc Frantic Mode
05/17 Week 50: 150cc Normal Items
05/24 Week 51: Mirror Normal Items DLC ONLY
05/31 Week 52: ??? It's the one year kartiversary for SundayDrivers. We'll do something special.
I'm sure someone has asked this in the past (newbie, searched thread) but are there ever tournaments that fit European times? Either a separate tournament, or one that's morning for the america's and evening for Europe?

Races start in 15 mins. Don't forget, 200cc Frantic tonight.

Not at present, no, I tend to just wait up for the Sunday drivers (although not today; frantic mode gives me a headache).
I don't think there are all that many European drivers around, just Maz and myself normally? So I'm not sure how popular an earlier timeslot would end up being.
