I've never really watched a legitimate MST3K episode, but I've watched compilations of their best moments. Whenever I'm driving the piddly little golf cart around work I will inevitably say out loud, "Put your helmets on, we'll be reaching speeds of 3!"
If you ever need to kill 90 minutes, several episodes are just straight up on YouTube I think, and it's fairly easy to find the non-DVD episodes elsewhere.
Also the Rifftrax of the Star Wars Holiday Special is annual treat for me. However, I think the original recording they used doesn't exist anymore online so the best you can do is find something very close but doesn't quite sync up as well.
They actually (somehow) got the rights to sell that one pre-synced now! I dunno how opposed you are to paying twice for the same material, but it's super convenient. I also like revisiting that one from time to time.
I think I spent less than five bucks on the original, so I'm not terribly opposed to double dipping for something I know I'll watch once a year.
They have the rights to sell it because if Lucas sued it meant he'd have to acknowledge the Special's existence. Actually, how old is that pre-synced video? Maybe Disney doesn't give a shit.
The Red Zone Cuba episode can be used to medically induce severe depression
Impossible, not with John Carradine's upbeat classic, 'Night Train to Mundo Fine' playing.
Seriously though, I don't think I've ever actually watched a Coleman Francis movie straight through. At some point I always just completely lose focus and go on to play a video game or something.

Yeah, I watched this one once. Like, Manos is just straight up incompetent, Hobogoblins at least seems to know how bad it is, and The Starfighers is just super-boring. They were able to make hay with all of these. Not even the riffs can save RZC, though.

It has this incredible malaise to it, like its the maximum combination of boring and stupid and mean spirited and pointless
Man, we saw the Sharknado Rifftrax Live and I remember leaving the theater not even wanting to eat because my throat was so raw from laughing. I still think my favorite thing these guys have done is the original MST3K movie, though. Especially the line about the Kingdome when the ceiling started falling on the alien.
As an upper-midwest boy, I particularly love the regional humor in MST3K. Occasionally they'll make a Wall Drug or Corn Palace reference and it just warms my heart.

Huh, the Rifftrax site apparently just sent out a free $10.00 gift certificate to a bunch of their customers under the guise of 'enticing them back!'
I've actually purchased a bunch of shit from them lately so I'm not sure how I got on that list, but shit I'll take the free money. Anyone have any suggestions for a movie? Preferably one of the download and stream ones where you don't have to buy the DVD. I've already got: Fun in Balloon Land, Mario Bros., Sword and the Sorcerer, Kingdom of the Spiders, Star Wars Christmas, House on Haunted Hill and Santa's Village of Madness. I've also got a bunch of the shorts, but I'm more in the mood for a feature-length film anyhow.
As an aside, I highly suggest making a Rifftrax account if you like the MST3K crew. They send out rewards, gifts and coupons on a pretty regular basis!
The NatGeo "Total Riff Off" specials are pretty good (they riff on bad nature shows).
Cool as Ice is a movie that exists purely to be a Vanilla Ice vehicle, so I think that sells itself. Hawk the Slayer is a pretty MST3K-esque offering. There's a McBain, but it's with Christopher Walken, not Ranier Wolfcastle.
I would watch a lot more Rifftrax if I wasn't a big whiny baby about having to sync up the movies myself
If I have legal access to the movie, I buy the Rifftrax, then go out and find a copy that someone has already synced, because, yeah, the extra effort of syncing it myself is pretty frustrating.

Speaking of collectables, anyone here ever tried their hand at bot-building? I've thought about it, but I'm not sure how easy all the parts are to obtain these days.

If you want to build a Tom Servo, start with an old fashioned style gumball machine.
If you want to build anything else, I am of no particular help.

The official name for them is "executive snack machine" and in my preliminary research I had trouble finding the right ones.
Oh hey a thread about my favorite show of all time
Rifftrax has been hit and miss for me because of the format and movie selections, but the entire Twilight series was just roll-on-the-floor-clutching-your-sides-trying-to-breathe funny

I'm really looking forward to having an excuse to post "Hired (Original Broadway Cast)" in the near future.
This is probably one of the best episodes of MST3k just in terms of what they did with how little they had to work with.

I've got the vol. 10 with the Godzilla movie
that still worth anything?
Used copies on Amazon start at $400, so... yeah.
damn
hmmm
Well, it did cause Mike to believe he was Carol Channing...
best riff in that episode was "what's the hole for?" when he hands that guy the ring.
Hell yeah, I've had this thread open since I saw it! But I'm on holiday at the shore so I'm not internetting at my usual pace.

Yeah but do you have a chunk of the SoL in yours?
