Realizing lately that I don't really trust or respect basically any of the moderators here. So, good luck with life, friends! Hit me up on Twitter @DesertLeviathan
I offered to buy it for the box and packing and ship the disk there, but needed 60 dollars first for completely unrelated reasons. That wasn't agreeable, though, it seems.
Taking turns making a level is fun. I made a section, then he made a section, and so on. You have the boyfriend to thank for the shortcut. I would have made you suffer.

People are very good at making difficult Mario levels
They are less good at making good difficult mario levels
I'd like to think mine are good, but I didn't think they were that hard, each one I've made I end up making easier than the last because I feel bad that so few people complete them vs how many try
I did the tutorial level and was just like oh god I don't want to do this at all.
You should send it to Yukira

i moved a block i'd had in place for a while and a bunch of flies flew out from under it and my cursor turned into a fly swatter and i swatted them all and then all of a sudden i was playing the fly swatter minigame from mario paint
game of the year all years
Wait, do you think-
Could it be?

The one I've made so far us supposed to be a relatively straight forward level with difficult platforming.
And, instead of dying, Mario made a bunch of sounds out of Mario 64 like he was fighting, while the sound effects of climbing a metal ladder and knocking on a window played
And then the sound of a door opening played, and a women whispered "Super Mario Maker" and the door closed and THEN Mario died

Pacts with Satan is my going theory for Expert Mode.
The problem with expert mode is that it's going to end up with a lot of levels that are designed like shit so people die a lot. It's not really testing your skills but more your tolerance for traps, "haha this block had a spiny in it now you're dead", and cheap shots that do nothing but drain your lives. It's inherently not fun or interesting to play Kaizo #1309283 or "Creator got bored and put three Bowsers in a cramped spring room" levels back to back to back.
Granted, this could be early launch problems and the star system will ensure that only well-designed levels are encountered and the invisible block troll maps fall by the wayside, but I'm skeptical that good hard levels will get a lot of stars.
I am suddenly realizing that there are VERY few Super Mario World enemies that don't leave shells or similar behind. Even its weird goombas can be weaponized. If you want to make a level where access to that sort of thing is deliberately limited, you have pretty much no option for a low-threat basic enemy other than Monty Moles.
It's a reason to not use the Super Mario World tileset like 100% of the time, I guess. Well, that and the lack of breakable bricks.

Does anyone know how to sync up the rising/falling of two winged red shell turtles?
Can't be done in any organic fashion. Enemies don't exist until they're on screen so the first koopa will start flying before the second one is on the screen. This is immensely annoying for stuff like tracks where you want, say, chompers to create a Yoshi only platform but you're limited in how many you can place on the track because they can go out of sync and create a much more difficult, if not impossible, jump.
EDIT: I get why it's done, because otherwise enemies would fall into pits before Mario got there, but one annoying example is when I placed a powerup between two chompers so Yoshi had to eat it. But because the right chomper doesn't spawn until it's on screen, you will never see the powerup through normal play so I had to use blocks which really went against the theme of the stage.

That's a huge bummer, its such a core idea of the first game
Oh well, I made a level I'm really proud of. Only had to 'cheat' and put a coin hint in for one part, was worried people wouldn't figure it out otherwise
If you guys play it let me know if its unnecessary!

Sier said no.
I played a level last night that was maximum level length of just airship cannons with gaps
So you had to wait for it to shoot then jump to the next cannon
Fairly challenging
But literally all it was
I dunno for me I like the levels that feel like Mario levels and I'm really not enjoying the weirder gimmicky ones
I wish I could tell it to never give me a single 'dont move' level
Did you try playing other peoples levels?
Wait, do you think-

On this last one you may need to center yourself while riding the shell I can't get Mario on it 100% of the time .
But I really wish you could just issue a "patch" for a level instead of having to reupload
I beat it but this level is an ass hole!
Any suggestions for improvement?
I beat it but it was close, like 24 marios left and I skipped a lot of levels
Some of them made me question how the creator was beating them
I fell down a pit testing one of my levels
And, instead of dying, Mario made a bunch of sounds out of Mario 64 like he was fighting, while the sound effects of climbing a metal ladder and knocking on a window played

Its telling me course not found
You will die in 7 days.

Hmmmm I'll check when I have a chance.
Step 2 of my plan, and my first dungeon level.
