The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
The collector in me is screaming to be a completionist, but the frugal, realist in me is thinking Robert Khoo was right in saying at a certain point it will be impossible to get all of the pins unless you are Mike Krahulik
I love the Portal pins. They'll most likely be a $45 set at the We Love Fine booth (just like adventure time last year).
I can't make it to Prime this year, but I have a friend who is willing to buy stuff for me. The Portal, PNW and Behemoth sets shouldn't be a problem, but I'm really hoping the Thinkgeek and Vault Boy pins are just simple purchases since I'm not going to ask him to jump through a bunch of hoops just to get pins for me.

Well, that sounds awful.
Same as East but even worse -- East was first 500 in line. This is 200. That's absolutely ridiculous. If the 1500 print run thing is true, only 27% of them are being given out in a definite way. And who knows how reliable the Leeroy method will be (it definitely wasn't helpful at East).

My guess is the Thinkgeek will be a simple purchase, but the Bethesda pins will probably require some quality line time.
The only pin I absolutely need is Commander Bragh. I mean, it's Star Wars, and I was super interested in Star Wars: Uprising to begin with. There's a lot of others I like but I need that pin and would maybe shank someone for it. Not sure. The 1000 angels singing in my ear aren't really clear on that.
I like how the Rock Band pin isn't buy-only this time. Getting my group of friends to demo Rock Band 4 together and receiving a pin for it is super awesome.
Weird, now that the pin hype is going down and looking at the pins, anyone else think quite a few of the designs aren't as interesting as some of the older pin designs were? Not to be a downer, just wondering if I'm just being an art snob.

Also where is the third Moonrise pin for the set?
Agreed, the 3rd party pins seem to be getting a bit plainer. It seems like they're moving away from "Hey let's make a cool pin!" and towards "Hey if we make any pin people will give us attention/money!"
Yup I think a lot of the third party pins don't compare to PA/Bandland pins in terms of art quality. That's why I'm happy to pass on most of them, apart from the games I actually play.
Also I must say I love the Pacific Northwest themed Core set! Especially Kemper and the fish.

I will never judge a pin by its pinquest imagery.

Sorry to ask, but could you explain? Because whether I base my schedule around the pinquest images or not will greatly change how I schedule running around PAX. *Also to clarify I was not saying all the pins didn't dazzle me, just that there were enough to make me want to verbalize my concern because art school has turned me into a critic.
Second question: Does "Available at ____" translate to "can be bought at ____"?

He means that sometimes the pins look way better in person.
And typically yes, if it says "Available at" it usually means it is a straight-up purchase. Single pins are usually $10, sometimes $15.

What @Ajaxon said. Here are some examples:
Overwatch
Team Fortress
Don't get me wrong - I love the TF pins. However, I don't think the pinquest sheet does them justice (neither does the image that I snagged from Ebay).

Okay thanks, I guess that means after Merch Lite for Polygon and fodder gathering I should swing by the other booths to see in person examples. Minus Twitch, for obvious reasons :P
Speaking of, is it better to get the Polygon first thing in the morning or try and get one of the demo pins?

This pax. Let me get my running shoes.
Pinny Pal since PAX Prime 2013
I'm so thrilled for the Portal pins and Vault Boy pin. They are my everything. I hope I can buy them both instead of wait in a four hour line.
Always looking to trade.
Polygon LE available only at Merch Lite.
Like, maybe I just stop? Maybe I just focus on the ones I want from now on? That'd be so liberating!
Always looking to trade.
Perhaps I can interest you in my meager selection of pins?
