I read that headline and I had to look at the date cause I swear they've used that exact headline a hundred times before.

But I think that was last election where "Clinton" was replaced with "Obama".

Trump is actually on top when it comes to the middle class there. It's a goddamn good thing the conservative media isn't really on his side otherwise a tax plan like that would probably cinch him the nomination right about now.

The Trump vs. Fox debacle shows up that is a good thing for Trump not having the media on his side, since they mostly dance to his tune anyways AND the base loves him since they pretty much hate all media period (and with distrust of all forms of mainstream media going up, well...).

For now. When Trump becomes the nominee, they'll suddenly always have been on his side.

Yeah, that dude is a) nuts b) a favorite of Chuck Todd, among others in the media.

The idea that your vote is a moral statement about you or who you vote for is some backwards ass libertarian nonsense. Your vote is about society. Vote to protect the vulnerable.

It's stuff like that that really gets me pissed off at the media's desire to show nonbias.

You're allowed to be biased against demonstrably wrong assertions, harmful rhetoric, or just plain idiotic puffery.

And Jesus H. Mergatroid, the distortion bubble these cranks live in. That's why this party can't be saved, they refuse to accept basic tenets of reality.

He was also CNN's pick for their conservative moderator in their GOP debate.

I think the real takeaway there is that he has offered Hillary Clinton "advice" about her campaign. I doubt Mrs. Clinton is going to take advice from a conservative radio host.

    steam_sig.png
  • VeagleVeagle Registered User regular
That advice is just insane too. Refuse to attend any debates with the Republican candidate. Does he really think that would help her, or is he hoping she would follow his absurd suggestion? Either option is crazy!

Well of course it is insane advice. He frames it as it being good for Hillary Clinton, but he is clearly a conservative talk radio host and has no interest in her succeeding. Therefore he offers his "advice" in the hopes that she will accept it and not take the freely given opportunity to annihilate her opponent in front of the public.

So, how desperate is the GOP establishment getting over the primary?
According to other Republicans, some in the party establishment are so desperate to change the dynamic that they are talking anew about drafting Romney — despite his insistence that he will not run again. Friends have mapped out a strategy for a late entry to pick up delegates and vie for the nomination in a convention fight, according to the Republicans who were briefed on the talks, though Romney has shown no indication of reviving his interest.

That desperate. It's like the mirror image of the Draft Biden movement, but with more derp.

The GOP leadership using the complex party primary rules to give Romney the candidacy out of nowhere would basically guarantee a third-party challenge from the right in the general election. Maybe Trump, maybe someone else, but someone would do it. The base would demand it.

Yeah - they had no plan for him turning out to be the dumber brother.

Also, Cruz pulls out the knives on Rubio, guaranteeing that the GOP will set anti-immigration as a party plank.

Guess they think they don't need the Latino vote.

I'm really afraid of the Ted Cruz's anti-immigration stance, mostly because I fear it'll end up getting Ted Cruz deported to Canada. We just got rid of Harper, and the dark clouds have just started dissipating. Please don't do this to us.

I honestly don't think Jeb is a dumb guy.

    He's just not very personable.
    Or good at public speaking.
And really lets it show that he hasn't run a campaign in like a decade and has pretty much forgotten how to do it.

Not that I agree with Cruz or anything, but good. Seems like everyone (save for Trump, who goes after everyone) has been reluctant to attack Golden Boy Rubio. Now the gloves are off with him to. Plus it assures that in 2016 they'll be the anti-immigration party, which, like, can't help.

Post-2012 GOP: We need to really focus more on picking up women, latino, black, youth, and low-income voters!

Pre-2016 GOP: We need to really double down on how much we're going to fuck over women, latino, black, youth, and low-income voters!

Part of me hopes Carson gets the nomination, though. It should buy us a few cycles of relief from the "so and so lost because they weren' t conservative enough!" harblgarble.

But god, what if they call Ben Carson a RINO?
    Who's left to nominate?

Everyone does dumb things. And when your every action is pored over by thousands of people trying to prove that you're dumb, yeah, unflattering things are going to come out.

Nobody running for the GOP nom right now is dumb. They might be woefully unqualified, narrow minded, ignorant, generally awful, blinded by ideology, bad at their jobs, or secretly an animatronic haunted house ghoul piloted by a sentient mop, but none of them are dumb.

Its more of an expectations differ based on their chosen profession.

I wouldn't call someone dumb because they couldn't file their own taxes or calculate the rate of return on an investment or the optimal repayment for a loan based on interest rates, but if an accountant couldn't, I would call them dumb.

These guys chose to enter politics, some against the advice of their closest family. That they are failing so spectacularly, means I am comfortable calling them dumb.
