I've gone back to fast food after five guys and chipotle and all those gourmet burger places because I get tired of eating that stuff before I even finish the meal. Fast food doesn't really have that problem

Marty: The future, it's where you're going?
Doc: That's right, twenty five years into the future. I've always dreamed on seeing the future, looking beyond my years, seeing the progress of mankind. I'll also be able to see who wins the next twenty-five world series.

That sounds like some PR nonsense term to me.

I mean, yes, but I think there's a noticeable difference between Five Guys and McDonald's, or between Chipotle and Taco Bell

For sure, but I also think there's a noticeable difference between the family run thai place down on the corner by my house and a place with a michelin star but I'm going to call both restaurants

5 guys isn't fast food though. you go in, order, and they cook it for you while you wait. so short order is the right term I guess.

No restaurant, not even the fancy places, has a burger that tastes like it's backyard grilled so who cares, shove garbage in your mouth

As far as I'm concerned if it doesn't have a drive-thru it's not fast food

Whatever word you use to describe that difference I don't care, short order is normal for me, but I wouldn't call Five Guys the same thing as McDonalds any more than I would call McDonalds a restaurant.

They make my burger after I order it and wait at In-n-Out and I've never heard someone call it anything other than fast food. Plenty of places I've heard called fast food wait till you order.

chipotle is fine but internet nerds trip over themselves to tell you how it's an affront to food or some shit and you should only eat burritos made out of a van in Mexico or whatever

  • JarsJars Registered User regular
we don't have in-n-outs here so I can't comment on that

I mean there are McDonalds that don't have drive-thrus so that seems a weird line to draw.

There are McDonald locations that don't have drive-thrus. Usually they are in other buildings, malls, airports, etc, but they do exist.

can anybody here finish a chipotle burrito and still be happy with their lives

I had Taco Bell today for the first time in about 4 years, I blame Dan.

I'm struggling to find any word for the experience other than mediocre. I feel like it was as close as I could get to just taking a tube labeled "sustenance" and squeezing it into my mouth. Over all the meal left no impression, but I am no longer hungry.

That's basically how Jeff describes his interaction with most fast food, and if you really got down to it with Dan, you could probably get him to admit that it's 'good' only because it's not 'bad' (as in, it has no impact strong enough to be called bad).

I mean I eat take-out/fast food fairly regularly, and it's generally fine, but I don't think I've ever finished and thought 'man that was good!'

I think you are vastly overestimating how much of dan's love of taco bell is a schtick

The point is the type of place that is known for being a drive-thru type place and the type of place that is known for being a sit-down type place. It seems like a pretty easy division to me but maybe not!

The real silly starts when you encounter folk who believe their eating out at Chipotle is healthier than McDonalds.

    "because it's all natural ingredients."
    All billion calories of them.

caloric count doesn't have any impact on how nutritional it is, and it probably is better on that option but I wouldn't exactly call it health food

i dont really get how it could be an affront, simply because its just so unremarkable and boring on a level no other fast food is. to be that insulting it'd have to be doing something

Moe's is a better big-ass burrito, for me, they've got more stuff to put in it too

Also I think I hit the mid-game point in Punch Club where running anything but an Agility build is totally obnoxious so maybe I'll put this down for now and hope they tweak it some more.

There's something to be said about availability

McDonalds is some absolute shit, but because it's available literally anywhere no exceptions that gives it a quality all of its own

Chipotle is alright because I don't live in the west where there's actual options on that front besides Taco Bell

I don't eat at Subway much, but I guess it's mostly because whenever I'm in a position to eat Subway around here, there's usually something else right near it that I'd rather eat.

    But Subway is totally alright.

I had the mcdonalds mozz sticks. They were the worst mozz sticks I've ever eaten by a large margin.

    Arby's has good mozz sticks.
