Ah. I actually missed that post. Okay. I hope that bug gets fixed.
I haven't experimented with robot builds at all yet, but I can confirm that double flamer arms absolutely fucking chews through enemies on Survival mode. I need to tweak the bot a bit so she doesn't die just as quickly as she kills, but wow, I have to say that I'm pretty impressed so far.
Do you have to give your bots ammo, or do they get infinite?
Infinite although there are some weapons like nuke launcher for the sentry torso that are labeled "unstable" which means they're powerful but have a chance to break when used by your bot and then you have to go reattach it at a robot workbench.
sentry legs really can't go anywhere. Robobrain treads seem to go wherever any of the others can no matter what's on them...so I've got a giant following me around on treads just a bit to small for it.

I built a sentry bot and took him to the middle of Quincy for testing and he just kept rolling straight into a brick wall firing missles at it.
I'm using the Mr. Handy rocket booster legs. They're quiet, fast, and keeps the companion out of my way a bit easier.
Trying to sneak around with Protectron legs clanking around just feels awful, even though it doesn't seem to adversely affect sneaking much.
I noticed that I couldn't use some of the arm weapons with the Handy Thruster. The heavy flame gun wasn't an available option until I switched back to actual legs.
came back to play around with F4 because the stupid robot DLC.
Game was crashing every time I tried to use vats. Hard crash, straight to desktop.
Went through and updated all the mods that needed it.
deleted one that added buildables to settlements.
no big deal right?
Except..i was using an item added by that mod to store galactic shitton quantities of stuff
From Legendary items, high end modded out weapons and armor, all my non-building (food/drink/etc) crafting resources, my vast reserves of purified water and thousands of stacks of pre-war money.
All gone.
Already overwrote the original pre-itempocalypse save while gathering robot bits.
at least 100,000 caps of items and resources..All gone.
To build on that, as to why I cant go back to a previous save.. about 30 minutes before I culled 5.8gigs of saved files from the save folder. So I literally have no older saves.
It was just a cavalcade of bad decisions or bad timing, or both.

I am a sadcleft
It'd be a pain, but couldn't you use the console to put quite a bit of that back into it?
The Legendary gear might not work like that, but definitely the caps, water, pre-war money and such should be able to. It hardly feels like cheating if you're just putting back in what was lost through a glitch/mistake.

Only item I knew the exact quantity of is my prewar money.
Which was 710 prewar monies I had.
the water is infinitely renewable and not to big a concern, outside of being a temporary economic loss.
the collector in me is mostly annoyed by losing like 150 legendary items, even if they were all steaming garbage.
oh man that sucks so much cleft. I was once deleting excess Morrowind saves on my old xbox original while on the phone. Deleted my main save accidentally. I dropped the phone.

The pain was mitigated somewhat by finding a complete set of X1 armor, which I dutifully modded out the ass and gave a flame paint job.
So do the new robot types spawn in the wild randomly? Cos it's a pain in the ass to get the quest giver to give you missions to hunt them down after you beat the dlc. Also if so what are common spawn locations for robbuts?

If you're not averse to a few console commands, try this:
Step 1: 'coc qasmoke' to take you to the Developer's room
Step 2: Pick a nice open area with nothing around it and 'player.placeatme 001f8545 1' to spawn a chest with a randomized set of legendary gear, weapons and armor both then grab everything (you'll have to wait for a couple of minutes while the chest fills up, once you stop hearing it clunk-clunk-clunk then it's cool to grab stuff)
Step 3: 'coc sanctuaryext' to bounce back to Sanctuary Hills, keep the legendaries you want, sell the rest to make up for lost caps
Step 4: 'coc qasmoke' to go back to the Dev Room and wait for the chest to fill up again
Lather, Rinse, Repeat until you have all the gear you've lost

Im getting a seriously weird glitch, not only do some characters occasionally refer to me as female, I get missions and comments from alternate endings that aren't part of the main save I'm currently playing. I've double and triple checked, and On the current save I'm using I definitely got the minutemen ending, and yet the railroad is giving me quests like
killing the brotherhood, and my character says "I've killed too many brotherhood" even tho I've never killed a single one in this run, the Prydwin is still up and everything, even tho the mission I got from PAM says "now that the Prydwin is destroyed" etc
It's very odd. I'm hoping if I continue with this save it won't cause me any issues in future dlc. In general people seem to comment on the Minutemen beating the institute which is the correct response, and no brotherhood are hostile to me. Just some oddities and missions from PAM
I'm also getting visual glitches like textures appearing as bright colours like pinks and greens which I've never had before. It all started happening when I installed the dlc I think, tho there was also an update today I bet screwed things up
I'm almost certain the game isn't accessing folders right since very recently.
I can't for the life of me get the game to use anything in the "textures" folder. ini's are all set and should be working, and all other mods/parts of mods are working fine but the game just wont use any textures from the textures folder.

In my experience, Sanctuary if you have it developed at all.
Mine has an obscenely high defense rating and every time I go back theres dozens of rust devils and robots laying siege.
its starting to get annoying, quite frankly. Defense was so high Sanctuary never got attacked before the robot dlc.
Does the DLC also change vanilla robots? I ran into an "Assaultron Dominator" that had long sword hands and could cloak. Pretty scary, my health plummeted when it melee'd me right before I hacked it.
Yeah there's a few scripted monster moments throughout the game, I loved that one. They need more of that kind of stuff, like the ghouls coming out of vents. They should have raiders actually doing things like sitting around campfires, fist fighting in a crowd, stuff like that. Seeing them occasionally working on workbenches is a nice touch tho

Still not enough to go bowling at the General Atomics Galleria.

I know this because, almost immediately after beginning the DLC, one of my settlements came under attack by a group of them.

on top of a high rise in downtown Boston is not fucking one of them
caught him just as he climbed up over the edge (presumably climbed up the exterior of the building?)
Thankfully my super sledge has chance to stun and he spent the entire encounter sprawled out on his belly as I pounded his head to mash.
Oh yeah, I remember that one. Ran into him on a Railroad quest. Punched Tinker Tom in the face after I got back.
That's what I was and presumably where I was.
Must be a scripted encounter and not random
The type of Deathclaw isn't always an Alpha, but it's a repeatable encounter.
