TownHallMageddon: Right Coast - Republican Menage A Trois, Southern Style

On the right side of tonight's card, we have the second of two Republican town halls
, held in Columbia, South Carolina.

Wait...second?

Yup, second. The first was last night, with Rubio, Cruz, and Carson in Greenville. Meanwhile, Trump had his own little event with the Morning Joe crew.

Major takeaway? Add singing to the List Of Things Ted Cruz Is No Longer Allowed To Do.

So, who's up tonight?

The Donald, ¿Jeb?, and Kasich.

That doesn't sound like a fair match up.

No, it really doesn't.

So, who's in charge?

CNN is running this, with Anderson Cooper as host. CNN, CNN International and CNN en Español will air it live, and be streamed live online on CNNGo.

What time?

7 PM Eastern.

This is a Republican Party Town Hall ONLY thread. Any of them is fair game, but this is not the Republican Primary thread.

It really isn't a fair matchup. For Jeb (!) and Kasich, of course.

the funny part is if Ted could actually pull out some sick dance moves and a sweet singing voice he'd probably gain ten points in the polls

I am convinced that, Ted Cruz, was sent by a secret, Socialist Canadian Cabal, that would scare us Americans enough to vote for "The Bern".

That would complete the "Socialist" triforce, with the recent PMs elected in Canada And England, if Ted Cruz is the GOP nominee, to scare us enough to go, "Fuck that, here Bernie, the Keys, has them!"

And we would then Thank Canada, for saving us from ourselves.

I am going to vote Democrat no matter what, so I guess I'm in this viewer party tonight.

May as well see what happens when we watch them ask Trump about the pope a billion times in a row.

    You sir are correct.

In my dumb, typical yankee assumptions, I thought England had voted in a Socialist Candidate, during the 2015 elections.

Ok, well, Canada will still get credit, If Cruz is the GOP candidate, that scares some Americans to vote "other".

The "I'm going to spontaneously stand" thing is just hilariously stupid at this point. They way they just spend 90% of their time at these things standing next to a set of chairs makes it look like they were done, were about to leave. and then one of them said something that the other didn't quite catch, and now neither of them knows how to end the conversation.

Kind of strikes me as odd (but human) - from my knowledge of history it should be more dislike of the office, but it's probably easy to conflate the office and the person holding it. Protestants as a whole got their start because Luther was fed up with corruption in organized religion... but that shouldn't extend to automatically disliking the person holding an office because you don't like that the office exists.

Nah, anti-catholicism has always been a big thing with the protestant and such types.

These days it's more amusing then anything cause it's like "OMG, someone hates me for my religion? As a white christian in the 1st world this is so weird and new. It's like, novel!"

when the one guy said "first responders lives truly matter" I shouted expletives at my tv and that made me feel foolish

bush is god awful. I was not aware how uncomfortable he comes across while speaking at length.

trump is similarly awful but everyone knows that. he just talks nonsense for so long before maybe, if he decides, actually making some kind of a point. rarely having anything to do with the subject at hand.

2 nights of town halls and my strongest feeling is I cannot wait to see cruz or trump opposite hillary. if it's rubio I'm a little more frightened, those two just leave themselves so wide open to someone willing to lay in a punch.

You dislike the office, and what (you think) it stands for, then it is quite natural to dislike the person holding it.
Because at some level the office holder probably approves the existence of the office (assuming it is not one of those necessary evils type of deals).

Sure, the current Pope seems like an ok guy (though he is likely to hold quite a number of opinions i would find horrible, or at most be unwilling to speak against those views).
But he is still the Pope, still the head of Catholic Church, and at some level that brings some level of complicity (even if in "accessory after the fact" type way) with quite lot of bad shit (and also good shit, let's not forget that), and he did accept the job willingly (or so i assume).

Luther himself made a big deal about the papacy fitting the characteristics of the antichrist. Only the wisconsin synod still makes a deal about adhering to that, though the Missouri synod dabbles in it.

Yep, the 616 manuscripts are good evidence for that view as well.

History also has raised question of the authorship of a few of the Epistles as well if I remember correctly. Not sure that one came up in class though (Revelation not being prophecy did).
