OK, what are people's thought on the Nintendo Direct video? I was excited to see that Sun/Moon will be out this year, but bummed about no Pokemon Go update...
I thought this Pokémon was Fletchling but it might be a new mon.
It's hard to tell what that will look like finalized but it does seem to have a different tail shape and legs. Who knows. It would be a little disappointing if the new bird type looked almost exactly like Fletchling.
Trademark information is public and not much of a leak in terms of reliability. Companies love trademarking all of their ideas in bulk to get their foot in the door, even if those ideas never come to fruition.
Sometimes they trademark things to be misleading. Does anyone here play magic the gathering and recall the speculation around the "mirrodin pure" trademark? There was never going to be such a product. The trademark purely existed to fan the fires of speculation.
The so called "leak" was Nintendo Co., Ltd. publicly calling dibs on the titles in advance.
The trailer actually showed a bunch of concept-art, and a bird-model. Chinese language-support is huge. I wonder to what extent Pokemon Bank will reject RBY-specific bullshit.
So many people upset about the direct online... even though the complaint is nearly 100% "They didn't reveal anything! We already knew Pokemon Sun and Moon were coming!"... which... yeah, we did, but if it hadn't been spoiled it would have been a genuinely shocking direct. I don't think anyone would have expected a new gen this year.
Also, importing RBY pokemon is cool. I wonder how they plan on dealing with the IV/EV system being completely different.

Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon are coming out for systems in the Nintendo 3DS family in holiday 2016, with a new world, new Pokémon, and new adventures to discover!

crap...now I really want a hummingbird Pokémon. Surprised we haven't had one of those yet.
I'm surprised Pokemon from R/B/Y will be Pokemon Bank compatible. I guess there will be an algorithm to convert DVs into IVs and account for the Special stat. And I guess a nature and/or ability will be randomized. I'm not sure how stat experience will be handed as I was under the impression that you could max every stat in the early games.

My guess is it'll revert stat experience to 0 when you transfer to Bank.
And for No Guard Fissure Machamp.... I guess we'll see.

Note that Pokémon cannot be moved directly from Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue, and Pokémon Yellow to Pokémon Omega Ruby, Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, Pokémon X, or Pokémon Y via Pokémon Bank.
I'm split on this. I want to know more, but at the same time, XY revealed nearly every Pokémon prior to release. I already know I'm going to buy them, so I suppose I'd rather know as little as possible.

I'd love it if they somehow kept everything about sun and moon under wraps, so that half the game isnt spoiled and decoded before it's even released. How much cooler would it be to run into some awesome pokemon in the grass seeing it for the first time, rather than oh this is that thing I saw online 6 months ago.
As to our mega pokemon discussion from the last thread, I don't like them because it makes them the final evolution of whatever has/gets one, it messes with other frankly more interesting items for pokemon to hold (another thing I really don't like past berries), and the 1 per battle thing always skews teams to include at least one because they are generally so much better than other pokemon. I think an overhaul of the stat system in general would do more for diversity and balance than just adding more power creep.
Also when I read sol/luna I thought for a sec it was the fire emblem thread.
I suck at competitive battling so I don't really know but I'm pretty sure sacrificing the held item slot for a mega evolution does matter on at least a few pokemon especially since you can only have one on your team. So I wouldn't say it makes every Megas final evolution useless.
There I was, 3DS: 2621-2671-9899 (Ekera), Wii U: LostCrescendo
Yeah I'm not a huge fan of megas that just end up meaning more stats on an already good pokemon. Mega Tyranitar? Yaaaaawnn.
Megas where there is either of a strategic choice to using the move, like with Gengar, or where the Mega form introduces a new play style to the pokemon like CharizardX is where its at.
Or when dumb pointless pokemon get awesome and ridiculous. Mega Evolution is a good way to make otherwise pointless pokemon viable.

That said, I am excited for these games that we knew were coming out and it's cool that they're in Chinese now.
Here are some images of the setting. Not much to go on but if I were to hazard a guess i'd say it seems tropical.
On the other hand, I would've liked to see something of Sun & Moon. Like, maybe a hint to player character customization is back?
Well, anyway, I'll be buying Moon and none of youse can stop me. Not even if Sun has all my favourite Pokémon as exclusives.
I like the idea that we might get to drive cars now. Grand Theft Pokémon.

The retrospective video was nice, official confirmation of Sun/Moon was nice, RBY using Pokemon Bank is REALLY nice

I doubt that anyone who would actually use an RBY import would care, so they'll probably just make something up.

Very cool, though I despair at having to start all over again.
Who else is hoping for evolutions, mega or otherwise, for Solrock and Lunatone?
