So apparently Thor, the God of Thunder, was just summoned in one of our server racks.
Like a random ass surge just took out power to a few VM hosts, fried the motherboard on one, fried two sticks of ram on another, and destroyed an old Dell Poweredge 2K3 box we were in the process of backing up to decommission.
Fuck you Avenger.
It was ant-man, not Thor. Somewhere in your building ant-man is stealing your sandwich.

I can recommend media on the interwebs that may provide a distraction
i'm watching the devil man as we speak
is good, Frank infinitely more interesting than Fisk
still super ultra grimly depressed tho
Dunno if you're in the mood for it, but have you played any HotS? It's really engrossing yet chill, and full of PA bros to hang out on voice with. Very good anti-depression solution (well, for some depressions, for some people).
I don't really have the spoons to do much of anything that involves focus
Whinge, I guess. I can do that.

Lame.
Did they have UPSes or were they right on the wall?
That's the weird thing. I mean this data center isn't huge because it mostly just houses our DEV environments but it's got full UPS going. This shouldn't have happened. The problem is there isn't redundant power so maybe if it overloaded one line it overloaded both of them?
Fuck if I know, but man. It was weird.
are YOU on the beer list?

My computer is kind of on the borderline to run The Division but it is pretty fun so far although I definitely need to investigate new 3D card and CPU solutions over the next month.
I'm thinking about doing the Windows 10 upgrade on my Windows 7 just to get it over with but I'm afraid my PC games will stop working.
I haven't had any issues with it. I even got Fallout 3 to work on two different Windows 10 machines, and that game is a pain in the ass on any OS that isn't Windows XP.
Oh man, En Passant pisses off people so much. In casual pickup chess games I have done that and had people argue that I can't do it because it's not a "normal rule" or some nonsense. Yes it is! It totally is!
People do not like losing or suffering a blow because of lack of rules knowledge. Because it sucks. It's almost worth mentioning at the start of a game so they know.

I feel like at some point I will be playing a game and my opponent will stand up and start dancing and I'll be like what are you doing and she'll be like oh didn't you know that if you dance a jig the second time a knight captures a pawn your bishop turns into a rook and then I will be that's it I'm sorry I am done with chess forever

mana burn actually isn't a rule any more
mostly because it was only ever legitimately applicable in the case of things that gave you two+ mana at once, which are pretty rare
life's a game that you're bound to lose / like using a hammer to pound in screws
fuck up once and you break your thumb / if you're happy at all then you're god damn dumb
that's right we're on a fucked up cruise / God is dead but at least we have booze
bad things happen, no one knows why / the sun burns out and everyone dies

I remember it being pretty relevant while I was playing. Lots of mana-generating stuff to be had, and playing around mana burn was a significant part of strategy.
Cabal Coffers is a relatively simple example.

It's like corpse runs in old school MMORPGS like Everquest. Anti-fun and really adds nothing to the game other than tedium.
