There is more professional mode content than I expected. A set of new challenges and mastery unlocks per level is amazing.

Well, first run of Paris map on professional.
And damn, when they said more security cameras, they meant it.

Luckily there seem to be no unlock items or suits for Professional mode. My need to acquire everything may rest.

Unfortunately, the "new" challenges are the same assassination challenges from the normal versions of the maps.

There's an item unlock at level 10 mastery for each one, which means getting all 20 challenges on each map in pro. (Though the only items that are really worth it are the decoy remote explosive for Paris and the extra emetic syringe for Sapienza; the rest are all reskins.)

Really? I looked through them and did not see any. Oh well. I guess I'm set for a while on content.

Just finished a first decent run through Paris with Sienne and More Than You Bargained For being my kill methods. I have to say, this shit is exactly what I wanted Metal Gear Solid 5 to be: Massive set pieces with multiple ways to complete your objective. It's like they ALMOST went this route, but decided that being open world was more important than replayability. I've never played another Hitman (I actually thought it looked goofy. . .this world class assassin is running around in a chefs hat? Really?), but I assume it's nothing like Hitman: ReReRemix. Really whomever managed to out "Metal Gear" Metal Gear needs a hefty promotion.

I'm legit stunned at how this scored overall. I guess with episodic content like this, it's difficult to score the complete package until the complete package is out, but the low 80's are striking to me. For the design and content alone this is easily (so far) one of the top 3 games I've played this year.

I like how Bunnyhop put it where Metal Gear 5 focused on making all the individual game play and controls feel great but is in an ultimately empty world and Hitman is pretty janky at times but is just stuffed to the brim.

Game definitely has it's jank. There was one moment where the god damn door wouldn't close on a target, and I got in this awkward glitch with my wrench's target. He spotted me, although I like to believe he saw me in the full length mirror. One thing I do NOT like is how people facing AWAY from you, can still see you do a silent kill. Maybe I'm missremembering what happened but I swear that's how it went down.

Either way, yea this game is just great. I also like how "grab and go" the game is; I popped in and out playing the game today in between working at home and it was so fun having an "Oh shit!" moment when thinking about how to do something.

I also agree with playing with minimal Opp. HUD. Markers telling you exactly where to go AND what to do is too much. Off might be fun, but if Paris is anything to go by I don't know how frustrating that would get with the size of the world. However stumbling like an idiot onto the Blogger and discovering an Opp. was just awesome and gives you more incentive to replay the missions.

One thing to note is "silent" takedowns aren't truly silent, they're just very quiet so people close by will still notice you. That means you can't take down a conga line of guards without being spotted

Landslide doesn't seem to be showing up for me.
I've got the full season pass, it should be showing up in the Sapienza menu, right?

Professional is kicking my ass, though:
I got the SO-SA after a little thought (Once I figured out to trigger the fireworks before letting myself get frisked, it was just a matter of reaching the balcony in time), but my second attempt threw me for a loop.
First time through I took out a chef in the kitchen, and he dropped a rat poison. Second time I was trying to drown both of them, so I went after him to get a dose beyond the vial I bought in with me. No rat poison. I took out the rest of them and searched the kitchen, but I couldn't find any poison anywhere.
The good news is I no longer give a damn about being spotted, so I could just take out problem guards with a hammer to the face.

Yeah Pro is pretty had since they remove most of the item and spare disguises in the levels. I was taking out the mansion security tapes in Sapienza and the new guard in that room up on the third floor dropped rat poison.

Where is the fire works trigger on Paris now? It is not in the usual place despite the two guys talking about it.

Also Golf coach will not drink from that bottle anymore so I guess a more direct approach is needed to get his outfit.

I read a post on a different forum saying that one of the two guys has it on him, so you have to knock him out to get it.

Yeah, the two techs working where the trigger used to be have it.
If you turn off the ...speaker? thing nearby, one will go to fix it, and the other will push off to go to the bathroom. the one who checks the speaker thing has the trigger on him.
(I think you might be able to get him to drop it by just bumping into him, but I knocked him out right after, so I may be wrong)

Hmm. OK that was pissing me off. I was seeing "silent pacify. . ." and I'm like "how the fuck did this asshole hear me from around the corner with this fashion show going on!" So then that makes sense about people hearing people when looking the other way; definitely more realistic.

    Pro tip.

You can bread crumb people using coins. Once they bend over to pick up one you can toss another one farther away and they will go investigate that one. You can use it to draw people into more secluded areas.

You can bread crumb people using coins. Once they bend over to pick up one you can toss another one farther away and they will go investigate that one. You can use it to draw people into more secluded areas.

You can also throw other items like hammers and soda cans to make noise, though you have to be careful with doing that since it'll default to throwing items as weapons if there's a target available for it to lock onto. Also, most things that are only usable for distractions rather than weapons will break when you throw them, but coins are reusable as long as you pick them up again.

You can't use guns to make a distraction like that, since guns aim to fire instead of aiming to throw, but you can instead drop a gun to draw people away: if a guard sees a stray gun on the ground, they'll pick it up and bring it to the nearest guard station, and if a non-guard sees a gun they'll go tell the nearest guard to get it.

And silenced weapons also play by the same rules as other silent attacks: they aren't completely silent, but they're close enough that nobody further away than like ten feet will hear you. Later unlockable silenced guns also have subsonic ammo; they're quiet enough that you can get away with shooting a target while standing almost immediately behind someone else, but they also deal less damage and have virtually no penetration unless you're almost at point blank range.

I looked at the unlocks for Mastery and it seems like I'm meant to do some of those missions to really make the challenges and Escalations (god damn these get silly) go smoother.

yeah some of the unlock equipment can make challenges way easier

like lethal poison (vial/syringe) is really helpful for a lot of the poison-kill challenges, since not every map has lethal poison in it

God I hope the suitcase rifle comes back in season 2.

the suitcase rifle and the dual silverballers are so iconic to the series at this point that it seems almost out of place to not have either

granted, dual-wielded anything wouldn't be all that useful given how combat rarely goes in your favor in the game as it is now - but then again, we already have like eight different assault rifles/SMGs/shotguns as unlocks

I managed the sniper method for Paris Professional with no location unlocks. Got a security outfit and picked up my rifle from the one stash location. Hoofed it through the cellar and out around the garden party using some coins for distractions and dropped it in the shed near the barge. Sniper is hot no matter who you are.

Went back in, took out the cameras, took out the two guys at the lighting controls to get the firework trigger. Then I forgot a lockpick. As far as I can tell there are only two crowbars in the whole map. One in the attic next to all the auction computer monitors and a second behind the locked gate to the barge. Got the attic one then took out some guards near the barge gate and ran down with the rifle.

After that is was simply trigger fireworks, wait a bit, then two shot and leave.

All that for one mastery level. This will take a while.

None of the Pro Mode unlocks are incredible, but I'm sure superfans will want to collect them all.

For me, I might mess around with them but holy crap do I not want to have to master Hokkaido again. And I already have the Sieger silent/zoom sniper, so having another one doesn't seem super useful unlike the Napoleon Blownaparte or Antique Syringe.

I think it's basically like the Gold Coin, aka "I was so badass I was rewarded with a duplicate tool that is super useful".

Though I just double checked, and the Pro Mode unlock is an Antique Emetic Syringe. The Himmapan Horror unlock is an Antique Lethal Syringe. I suppose having a second death poison needle makes challenges like the "poison all targets" one in Colorado slightly easier.

At a certain point, I was cheesing the last bits of level mastery by starting in every location, save scumming and doing several challenges at once, and doing contracts designed for easy cheevos.

Pro Mode looks like it'd be slightly more interesting, but probably something I'll just watch streamers play instead of play myself.

Just played through the newest bonus mission. Interesting that the client for the mission was
the target from the main mission.

Also, found a cool little easter egg down in the sewers.

Oh jesus. I just managed to do a suit only silent assassin run on Paris in Professional difficulty.

This also completed the silent assassin challenge, personal touch challenge, and no evidence challenge.

    That was very stressful.

I super do not look forward to trying that on Colorado.
