Someone managed to kill both targets in Marrakesh by using a shotgun to launch a bottle with a remote explosive strapped to it through a window, then detonating the explosive.

Have there stopped being elusive targets or have you just stopped telling me about them

There was one last week or the week before in Paris. Do you not get emails telling you to get on a plane and kill somebody?

There was a paparazzi in paris (i dropped a speaker on him, it felt appropriate), other than that, no since the bookkeeper.

Been amusing myself with doing professional maps, got 18/20 (enough for 10/10 mastery) on Paris, Sapienze and Marrakesh now, and 13/20 in Bangkok.

Getting rather annoyed by the lack of saving in Bangkok, way too many cameras, noticers and getting rid of the recordings is a pain, still, apart from long setup times it's ok.

Yes, but that's a separate thing.

They went down from 2 Elusives per month to only have one per month now, I think?

The next one is rumored to be the first one on the night version of Sapienza. Previously they were waiting on releasing any Elusives for the bonus maps until the full release.

I'm hoping the reduction in elusive targets is due to them working really hard on season two.
Are there any details on that?

Not yet, I think you're right though. I'd expect to see something at E3 for sure, if not just before.

I fucked up that paris papparazi one so bad

I tried to set up a trap for him

and instead used my screwdriver to screw around with a wire that was in a puddle

electrocuting myself and instantly failing the mission in the process

Doing Colorado professional now, tried doing the battering ram hit on Sean and Parvati.
Got the disguise, cleared the area of couple onlookers, attended briefing, and when the training starts, i wait for battering ram to hit the car and then start shooting the dummies.
Ecxept i guess i was second or two early, and the game decided to have npc's shoot me.

I like the increased difficulty, but sometimes the lack of markers and extra noticers are just stupid.
Like this, how am i to know when to start shooting if there are no markers in place and following npc's instructions is not going to actually work? And how do the npc's at the door know i am not burges?
Also people seeing through walls, doesn't happen often, but it does.

For future reference, a silenced pistol shot to the plug or whatever you're tampering with can sabotage it in the same way, and usually doesn't get anyone coming to see what that noise was, so long as you don't get seen.

Useful trick that, silenced pistol is the only way i have found to get rid of the evidence in Bangkok professional without anyone seeing you.
They still get alerted though and start looking around with guns drawn, but as long as you are crouching behind table, you can quickly run out of the room and it does not count as being spotted.

I don't think there's a stat tracking it, but the number of times I've shot things to cause distractions and/or accidents is far, far larger than the number of times I've used my pistol to actually shoot someone directly.
I pretty much don't do it unless it's for a specific challenge.
I keep expecting 47 to go 'Wait, I can just cut out the middle man by shooting them in the head! What a time saver!'

But where's the fun in that?

  • NyysjanNyysjan FinlandRegistered User regular
This game should be named "Waiter" instead of Hitman.
Because i spend lot more time waiting for npc patrol loops to finish than i do hitting things.
Especially on professional where main difficulty spike seems to come from randomly added extra guards you need to wait for.

    So...

Next season there's gonna be a Fyre Festival episode, right?

  • SnicketysnickSnicketysnick The Greatest Hype Man in WesterosRegistered User regular
My wants for series 2 are in no particular order,

    Festival
    Nightclub
    Cruise Ship
    Airport
    Boxing Match

Nightclub and Cruise ship were sort of covered in prior games though

My first successful elusive, go me! :P

No idea where the 2nd non-target death came from. But on the way out I was just out of patience so this guard was lured and had a kitchen knife thrown into his head for his clothes.

  • NyysjanNyysjan FinlandRegistered User regular
Not my favorite elusive by a longshot.
He just stuck around, did nothing, and was surrounded by guards.
Eventually i just got bored waiting and threw an explosive at him and left.

  • XeddicusXeddicus Registered User regular
I didn't even realize it was him for the longest time. He wasn't showing red (do they?) and I was just hanging around the building listening to his commentary on the game. Then it clicked that was new and I checked who was saying it.

So I shot him in the head and ran away. Explosive may have been a better idea.

  • klemmingklemming Registered User regular
Elusive's don't show as red, part of the mission is finding and identifying them.
I managed to shift his behavior, but I had to reset a couple of times to learn how to exploit it.
If you sabotage the lights on set, Actor Guy leaves in a huff and goes to do his Q&A, and the elusive goes with him.
Then you just need to learn which drink he'll take a swig from, and pay it a visit in the caterer's outfit (I did it before I killed the lights, once I'd worked out the pattern. Get the disguise, dose the water, get a new disguise to get on set, sabotage the lights, then just wait for events to take their course.
This also gave me plenty of time to go wipe the security tapes, so yay.

Fucksake Square, first you blame the Tomb Raider reboot doing really well for your losses and now you're trying to do the same to Hitman?

Don't forget Deus Ex, I'm pretty sure they dumped that too.
Square seem to have this thing about anything that doesn't do Final Fantasy levels of sales.

Seems like they are going All In on their Marvel colab, which does make a decent amount of sense, but Hitman was probably their biggest critical success in years. I can forgive them Deus Ex, or at least understand it better as that game, while I enjoyed it a lot, didn't make a huge splash.

It's going to be real sad if IO don't get to keep making these. I can understand why sales were so low though. It was a really off putting model and the sequel to a very bad game. I certainly took a long time to bite.

  • klemmingklemming Registered User regular
Aside from mourning season two, what are the odds that they're going to keep the servers running for a particularly long time?
Because that's gonna take a lot of progress with it if it goes down.

I saw an article that said IO was pretty happy with its sales.

Unfortunately it seems SE thought otherwise.

It's plausible that the game sold a decent number of copies, but the revenues for each copy sold were low because so many people waited for the game to actually be a complete game before biting, and by that point you could get the whole thing for well below full price.

It's also plausible that Squenix Japan wanted to shift the focus from FFXV underperforming onto one of their less egregiously underperforming Western subsidiaries, and I/O was the only one left that put out a game this past year and that wasn't already committed to their Marvel collaboration.

At least I/O is independent again, instead of getting shuttered outright like you'd see with most developers in a situation like this. Hopefully they end up making a game that people want to play, like a followup on the lessons they learned making the new Hitman, and not something like Kane & Lynch 3 (it'll totally be K&L3).

  • TubeTube Registered User admin
I read that SE were selling them but that could be inaccurate info. But yeah, Hitman rather than Kane & Lynch please. It seems like they're over their appalling grindhouse obsession.

  • LalaboxLalabox Registered User regular
I'm still waiting on the forthcoming IO statement, but I would imagine that if SE wanted to sell IO, whoever was buying would probably want to buy their notable IPs as well.
