reading the investor relation page (because why not). Actually, I clicked the link expecting a 'sign in' prompt.

'linear tv' feels like a better term than 'traditional tv', but it's still lacking something

claiming quikster was a 'sobering misstep'
We are not a generic "video" company that streams all types of video such as news, user-generated, sports, porn, music video, gaming, and reality.
some combination of the word being so baldly stated and being placed far enough in that it might be skimmed over struck me as awkwardly funny.
and this is something I've been saying for years, and I really hope a solid team runs with it:
In addition, we are able to provide a platform for more creative storytelling (varying run times per episode based on storyline, ..., no fixed notion of what constitutes a "season").
regarding longmire though, we went back and watched the end of season 4 just to confirm but we are 3 episodes in to season 5 and
the bruise on the daughter's face just disappears and no mention of it or where it came from. did we miss something?
Longmire s5e1
At the very start of season 5 when Kady is trying to wake up Walt he's delirious from concussion and blood loss and he smacks her. Episodes 1 and 2 take place over a couple of days but ep 3 is a week or two later so it makes sense that the bruise would disappear by then.
My guess is she never tells him because it was an accident and he'd feel bad.

Portlandia Season 6 was a better return to form for the series, much like Workaholics it got it's second wind. Really loved this jab at cable TV music:

I have not been paying attention to any of the new shows this season that are now flooding Hulu, are any worth a look, like that Kristen Bell Heaven comedy or Designated Survivor?

The Good Place (Kristen Bell Heaven comedy) is funny so far and showing some real promise
I liked the first episode of Insecure, it was like a more grounded, less surreal version of Broad City. I can see it getting tiresome if they focus too much on relationship stuff, but if they keep it as a light and funny hangout comedy, I'll keep watching. As someone who works for a nonprofit in NYC, I enjoyed all the digs at nonprofit culture. All the scenes of Issa hyping herself up in the mirror were very funny as well.
High Maintenance is alright too, though perhaps a little too curious about the lives of insufferable, vacuous yuppies. I hear the original web series featured a lot of different character types though, so maybe that will change. The story about the Muslim girl in Episode 2 was my favorite of the 4 so far.
Luke Cage is up and I'm on episode 3. So far it's the same level of quality that we got with Dare Devil and Jessica Jones, with only two exceptions. The music is pure sex and this show is unapologetically black. You don't see much mainstream entertainment with that kind of theme. It takes guts to push a show like this, and I love Netflix for it.

I'd give Marvel some credit, too. It's a company that's had its heart in the right place for decades (just, you know, filtered through the lenses of a bunch of white guys from New York + Larry Hama and Christopher Priest), but they've really upped their game in terms of hiring diverse voices as creators in the last few years.

I am writing about it a little in the Marvel thread. It does some pretty interesting logical reversals of topics in the national discourse near the end. Really digging it.
Look I'm having very complicated feelings right now

This is new on Apple TV at least, when watching a show and letting it autoplay Netflix will skip opening credits if they're at the beginning of a show.
I had the new season of Family Guy on as background noise and it did this for every episode where it doesn't do a cold open.
This is what should be worked on instead of Aziz Ansari specials.

Netflix has done that for a few years at least, but it might have defaulted to not do that, and only recently switched default on?
I remember seeing Jessica Jones intro only once. ;P
Designated Survivor, first episode was unconvincing, but maybe this gets better? Kiefer is really good, but I can't say the story compels.
I thought the second episode was a bit better - it was actually about something (the evils of racial profiling), while I don't think the first episode really had anything to say. But I probably won't stick with it. Would rather watch The West Wing.

Although there was one skit they outright stole from South Park (the taxi cab bit was almost straight up ripped off from HandiCar)

Does anyone know if there is? I always end up just rewinding and watching them but if I could avoid that it would be awesome.
Works fine in Abilene, TX
And now I tried rebooting which triggered a stupidly lengthy Windows update.
