    Good morning [chat]

I was having a dream that I was not fully enjoying, so I seized the reins and yelled (in my brain) "No! Wake up!", and I did!

But apparently it is only 6am.

    Oh well, still pretty cool.

Yeah, part of why I like it as a setting conceptually is that even if we're assuming cyberpunk alt-future-that-is-also-very-late-80s-aesthetically, Berlin is still a city staggered in history, of old industry and modern pharmacorps, of sunken tunnels and the east-west divide, etc

but also I want to have waifus with German names punching robots

First, you should be aware of the constant polar bear attacks on the populace. The bears live in an area colloquially known as "Bearlin" close to the centre of the city. They can be frightened off by the mating call of a whooping crane, and any reputable street tobacconist will sell a special whistle that will simulate this sound. Even in a futuristic setting this should be taken into account, as the bears are a protected species and have paid up their rent to 2189.

You probably already know that no one wears any item of clothing colour blue except on weekends under penalty of death by being repeatedly thrown from a ground floor window.

Be sure to add verisimilitude to your setting by having passersby wish the PCs Happy Monday, no matter what day it is, in the adorably quirky way that Berliners do today.

One Punch Man is a good anime I think. We will see when it's over but it may join some esteemed company on the list of anime that's alright.

@Donkey Kong What else is on this list? Please advise.

For some reason my last thoughts as I drifted off to sleep last night were of a weird puzzle to put in an adventure game or RPG

You give a list of words, and a picture of some honey, a teapot and a river

And the players need to work out that they have to pick the word that starts with a b, has t in it and ends with c

I fell asleep before I could think of such a word

Make up a monster name that fits the bill. The fearsome Bataric!

I guess Baltic works, but is unusable in a fantasy setting unless you have coincidentally named a region the Baltic.

Pfft. Flint knapping was a skill only available to the 1%, and like all tools was used to elevate the wealthy at the expense of everyone else.

Coming off one of the videos Simon linked, I found another vlogger who's been taking the piss out of CinemaSins in recent months in a similar fashion to shesellsheshells (calling out errors and sexism, doing research on things the channel operators have said in other venues, etc). I don't know if you'll come away with anything new, exactly, but I like this person's vibe and they make good videos.

Everything Wrong with "Everything Wrong with 'The Empire Strikes Back'"

and a more serious general video essay about the problems with the channel and why what they're doing is harmful

The original Magnificent Seven is a terrific movie. A great villain, a truly memorable set of protagonists (except Horst Bucholz, no one can explain the Mexican kid who's obviously a German wearing bronzer), a bittersweet ending and some outstanding lines ("We deal in lead, friend", the scene about the bleakness of a gunslinger's lot in life). Watch every one of the 7 try to catch your eye when they're on screen and make their part more memorable than whoever they're on screen with, like Steve McQueen shaking shotgun cartridges to his ear before loading them. It got so bad Yul Brynner ended up telling everyone to stop, or he'd dominate the screen simply by taking off his hat.

John Carpenter called it maybe not the greatest western and maybe not the most transformative western, but The Magnificent Seven is the most fun western.

And of course the original The Seven Samurai is a masterpiece as well and well worth watching.

The original M7 is great and a ton of fun. It's not up there with TGTBATU or anything, but it's well-crafted and a good time. That's about all I'd expect from a remake, glad to hear it's enjoyable.

    so i have a little syringe that i was given full of medicated gel. i've been getting rid of food debris with just a gentle saltwater swish (to avoid dislodging the forming blood clots). googling suggests most dentists also give you an empty syringe that you use to more effectively dislodge foodstuff so i ordered one from amazon. if that doesn't work in a few days (while also taking amoxicilin in case it's an infection), i will go in and see if they can figure out why all my spit is yellow and half my mouth is still swollen and painful ;_;
