This Presidential Election is no Forza Horizon 3

ElkiElki get busyModerator, ClubPA Mod Emeritus
I am lost to the majesty of Playground's Australia. It gives the soul much, but it does take away one's time. It leaves me with much less space to contemplate the recent events in this most entertaining of American elections, which is a shame. So please, don't make this thread a garbage fire to sift through. When I part away from my adventures, exiting the Kiewa Valley and and entering the Dry Reservoir at high speed in my Audi Sport Quattro, I do not do so to look your contextless tweet with the equivalent of "lololol" underneath. I do not abstain from driving the 2005 Subaru Impreza impregnated with car horse steroids to read your response to some post with "WTF is this supposed to mean?" It means you're a jackass who can only disagree like tool. Cease. Dissidents to my regime will be crushed, like the grass beneath a 1975 Ford Bronco offroading in the forest. You have been warned, unlike the family in that car I smashed into headfirst in my Nissan R390 doing 200. RIP.

Clinton is at 89% in 538, 92% on benchmark politics, and 95/97 on the Princeton Election Commission.

None of these models account for her ground game advantage, financial advantage or polls telling us just how very, very much independents and undecideds hate Donald Trump.

X-post from old thread for terrible timing:

Also, I look forward to many more election seasons of the Obamas carrying Dems to the finish line purely by the strength of their surrogacy. Here's a 2-term president and FLOTUS that are young, popular, scandal-free, and both fantastic orators.

Certainly! According to the FBI's report, the seniormost State Department manager contacted the FBI and asked that one of Hillary Clinton's emails on Benghazi be "buried forever" with the wrong classification. The FBI said yes (in return for more agents allowed overseas) but then changed its mind when it found out the email's topic.

I think that's corrupt, pure and simple. But like everyone else here said, the Republican Party has been crying wolf for so long that when a real wolf shows up no one listens. They have no one to blame but themselves.

Trump lashes out at Republicans for not buying election rigging line

The fact this man is trying to undermine the nations confidence in its elections is probably most damaging thing he has done on a long term scale. A peaceful transition of power by elections which the populace has confidence in is more important than his spray tanned ego.

    @Captain Marcus

That doesn't make any sense. State was not attempting to bury an email that is cleared for release. Despite what an unnamed FBI official says occurred in an unrecorded phone call when everyone else shows the opposite.(also when the FBI official proposed the quid-pro-quo and not the guy at State*)

The only way it does make sense is if State thought that the FBI was trying to ratfuck them. The FBI choosing to classify the document, but also release them, (rather than bury) looks politically motivated. Had the documents not gone through the investigation they would not have been classified and would have been released normally. Going through the investigation and then being released redacted makes Clinton look bad because it implies that she had classified documents on her system when she in fact did not.

Attempting to bury the document at that point would be the right thing to do. If the document really should be classified, but was not, then there is no fault on Clinton, releasing the document is pointless. The only way to satisfy both the truth of the investigation and the classification is to bury the email. If the document really should not have been classified, but was, then the FBI is playing politics.

*which is also important because this negates the issue of Clinton having any issue. By ignoring who proposed it the narrative swaps from "Clinton aide refused bribe" to "Clinton Aide attempted bribe". But the latter is not true.

    Question about thread rules:
      - No image macros

Can anyone enlighten me as to what these are? I doubt I would be posting one anyway, but I'd hate to get myself in trouble by not knowing what one is in the first place. I thought it was about large images, but I figure that would have been worded "no macro images."

The thing about the latest emails waargarbl is that even if you take the least charitable reading of the situation (which I was totally ready to do; y'all know I don't like Clinton) it's still not the same level as the shit Trump has done, even before his media cycle went full Cosby. It's less serious than, eg, bribing the Florida AG.

At this point if Clinton is going to sink, it'll need to be over something a lot bigger than the email server fuckup/coverup.

  • enlightenedbumenlightenedbum Registered User regular
Man makes pretty unfunny joke about destroying Trump ballots as a postal worker in Ohio (he's from California) as part of the rigging conspiracy.

Right wing buys it, including the nation's second worst Secretary of State, Jon Husted of Ohio.
