[Final Fantasy XV] Who needs armor when you've got Gladiolus' abs?
hearing stand by me in a finfan game white a bunch of cafe boys push a car threw me for a dang loop
If that was only indicative of the driving music I'd have been THRILLED
It would have at least had some character
EDIT: And yes I'm harping on this because I think the radio stations in open world games are incredibly important. Like this isn't GTA or anything, but it's still an open world game where you get from Point A to Point B by driving a car with a dang radio, there are standards.
Part of me is glad they didn't tbh.
I don't mind having real world music in say your GTAs, Saint Rows and even Metal Gears as they're suppose to be some alt contemporary reality.
I would have found it a bit more jarring in this unless it was all original scores.

This FF is pretty alt contemporary reality
Like I just drove my car to a diner and played some pinball

FF is like some mix of medieval, contemporary, and futuristic all going on at the same time.
Its always kind of felt like its own thing in that regard.

Look, if I just drove by a billboard for Cup Noodle
They can give me some genre music on my dang car radio
Woo! Just braved nighttime driving for real, and the night is dark and full of terrors:
Went about halfway through the drive with nothing, and then near Hammerhead a level 30 Iron Giant appears! I'm level 10 at the moment. I have an intense fight with it, but having played the demo, it wasn't too bad. Continue with my drive towards the northern part of the starting area map for story related reasons. About two-thirds of the way there the game decided it was tired of my shit. It spawned another Iron Giant coming out of the ground, but this one had a giant flaming sword.
I put it in reverse and took the dirt road that was beside the main road. Fuck that.

I been thinking structurally which FF that FFXV remains me of most and it actually feels very close to FFVIII.
Both games give you access to areas in large chunks and you get it fairly early, both have a lot of optional stuff that has nothing to do with the story, along with some easter eggs and lore bits. And both are kind of paced in a go at your own speed way.
If I compare this to later titles like FFX and FFXIII I think it has pros and cons. It addresses the complaints of linearity that those games get but it lacks the feeling that something is always happening narratively.
I only got an hour or so of play, but the lowpoint for the voice acting has been set by the intro/flashforward/nightmare/whatever that was.
Four people ducking from fire: "Ugh! Ah! Urrrrh! Ahhhh! Erg!"
I've also gone ahead and bought all the FF soundtracks I can for the car, even though I haven't got it fixed yet. Priorities.

well I mean
where would you keep it?
The trunk of the car?
Also I see if you're getting swarned its best to warp strike to a straggling opponent.

I think its a story progression deal.
You'd have to walk back to the car everytime.
Intro
It won't let me choose manual. My only option is Auto.

Yeah. You only get manual for that part then it switches you back to auto only at the next story beat.
Like I said, I'm pretty sure its tied to plot progression.
Just great details like the level up/camp screen

Yeah, it locks and unlocks. Frankly, Manual control is pointless.
Yeah. Charming is not a word I was expecting to use in describing this game but it truly is.

if I had anything to play it on I'd be sold
And then immediately afterward realized I forgot to buy the skill that gives AP for catching fish
Also the fishing is good.
As is, surprisingly, the English VA.
The combat feels pretty alright. The wait mode feels real awkward though. Maybe if I gave it more than three fights I'd get used to it but eh.
Noctis sure did have a very serious conversation with a cat tho.
Are those stages or waves?

Fun gameplay, good open world, looks and sounds great. Lots of great little touches.
Poor, disjointed main plot.
I know that without it I'd be getting just the vaguest sense of everything with the flashes from the film they keep showing
But I saw Kingsglaive so, who cares

I already had soundtracks for I, VII and XIII, where do I get more?
Various shops will have a tab for car stuff
Bumper stickers, decals, more soundtracks
In the first area, there's an item shop between the diner and the guy selling weapons.
Much like one of the guys in the car, I take out my phone, chill for a few, and when someone talks to me I look up and respond
It's oddly...therapeutic?
