Identifying accessory to attach desktop tower to the desk?

BasarBasar IstanbulRegistered User regular
Quick question, really.

What is this thing called? I am trying to declutter my workspace and came across this online. I am not looking specifically for this model but trying to put a name to whatever this called.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Try "CPU mount" or "CPU holder"

I didn't see any exactly like the one in the picture, but I saw several where it's mounted under the desk and one with a wall mount.

Calling it a CPU holder makes me die inside.

You can find them by searching for computer case desk mount.

Ugh. CPU holder. Let me go use my ATM machine and then RIP in peace. Fuck.

Edit: not implying that they're not marketed as CPU holders. Knitdan is totally correct. It just hurts my brain.

Edit2: That looks like a commercial Steelcase Workstation. They cost a fortune but have lots of modules and add-ons and stuff. Without that specific desk that configuration may not exist.

Years ago I had a computer desk that came with a little shelf off to the side that was for holding the tower. I never actually used it but you might also browse computer desk images for something like that.

there are wall-mounted computer case setups, but they usually feature transparent casing and a broader layout of parts (i.e. mobo-as-wall-hanging)

these photos look like somebody just made use of an already-adjustable desk to mount a large bracket that their case could sit in

I think that looks like an ikea desk I had ages ago. That was modular so they probably offered those holder attachments.

Thanks, that helped. I searched for desktop tower mount etc but CPU mount was what I needed :)

I had a desk like that as well, I was a student and the desk was really cheap (pricewise and in terms of quality). I am trying to go a bit more professional here :D

This is an IKEA Jerker desk. Fans even have a fansite for it: https://www.jerkersearcher.com/

    :)

Thank you all. Now I know what I am looking for. Cheers.

Central Processing Unit doesn't include the word "holder" though? Or imply it?

What's the point of that as opposed to simply keeping it on the floor? Flood concerns?

Theoretically it reduces dust. Similarly, it's another way to secure your tower if you have small children or overly curious pets in your household.

Also www.jerkersearcher.com is the risky click of the day.

No huge benefits really. I just think it will look better in terms of cable management as the tower will be at the same height as the desk top (I am looking at holders not under the table but next to the desk as in the photos) so I can run the cables through an IKEA Signum and will be easier to clean around the room as I am planning to purchase a Roomba as soon as I hit a decent sale.

Here's what I am planning on doing:

My apologies but what's risky about that site? I didn't notice anything as I have Ghostery blocking all trackers :-/

    The name.

If you pronounce it as "gherker" instead of "yerker," then the name is a risky click.

High-five to Basar. I was literally going to recommend using the Ikea Signum for cable management.

BTW, one other reason to do an under-desk mount is if you have an adjustable-height desk. Some of my coworkers have desks that convert from sitting to standing position with the flip of a switch. By mounting the PC under the desk, they conserve desk space, and cable management is much easier than having the PC on the floor. When the desk elevates or descends, the only cables that flex are power and ethernet.

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.

We've always known them as workstation holders but CPU holder is the industry term.

I work for a hospital and some of our nurse stations have the cases strapped to the underside of the desk with straps that are run through brackets bolted to the desk.
