    bagels are, like, the worst possible option for bread as a breakfast sandwich; or any sandwich really.

    Yes, but it didn't make the jump from career jargon to internet slang until sometime in the last 10 years, and it's used poorly in the internet usage. Instead of people using it in a self explanatory way ("this is my hot take on the recent event", "that's a pretty rushed hot take"), people just respond with the words "hot takes". And it seems like an intentionally vague way of using it.

    Hot take: the new star trek movies arent real star trek

    They arent bad movies, really. I dont hate them. The actors for the most part do really good jobs. But the stories to me arent star trek.

    I know this is one of those already well known internet opinions, but i only recently came to this conclusion after bingeing on different trek series episodes and TOS movies.
