Superzoom DSLR Lenses

I'm looking to pick up a superzoom lens in the 18-200/250mm range for a nikon D5200 body to replace two lenses I'm currently carrying (nikon's 18-55mm kit lens and a Nikkor 55-200mm VR lens). I mostly use a prime Nikkor 35mm lens, and swap the above two in when I feel I need to. The D5200 is a crop sensor body and needs the lens to include an af motor, so the list of what I'm looking at is fairly small.

I'm really tempted by the $200 Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 lens, which is way cheap, but I've read it has some issues with sharpness. The next step up is almost double that - the Sigma brand version of the same length and aperture at $400 - and I'm not sure I want to spend that much money. Between those are some decent looking used lenses, but I'm a bit hesitant to buy used lenses online. I've got a message out to someone local on craigslist for the Nikkor AF-S DX 18-200m, but they want $300 for it, which seems crazy low and too good to be true.

Just wondering if anyone has an experience with using and/or shopping for these sorts of lenses.

I ended up ordering the Tamron lens; thought hard about going for the nikkor but I'm pretty sure I'll be selling my DX stuff to buy full frame gear in the next year or two, so spending $400+ on another DX lens doesn't make a ton of sense. Anyway, I'll update when it comes in and I have a chance to take some shots with it, just in case anyone is interested in how it performs.
