Guys, I need a suggestion for a conservative podcast or book that won't completely gross out a typical dirty liberal [chat] person. I have a liberal friend who wants to get some perspective on "the other side". She's a gay community activist, so it's unlikely that she will go full Trumplord or anything.
I would say really Fox is probably the way to go. In small doses though. It has the largest reach of all the major conservative news outlets/think tank groups.
Outside of that maybe check writings from the Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute. The ALEC project also as it pushes out stuff for state and local level.
If she wants to go full bore Hannity and Rush are still around and still producing their hate speech.

Cato Institute is also libertarian-conservative instead of Republican-conservative (they tend to oppose cronyism in politics and tend to be isolationist about foreign affairs) so that's good for insight into that wing.
I was also thinking the Hoover Institution and their new project PolicyEd, which is center-right with emphasis on academic economists.
Yeah Hoover is center-right. Cato is a good one I think I expressly blocked from my brain.

flight to like new york, boston, etc, seems to take between ten and thirty hours and cost waaay too much so I doubt I will go any time in the foreseeable future
I found Boston to Oslo, 9 hours, $480 round trip. I might go to Norway some time, dang.

I see super cheap advertisements for Norwegian Air here all the time, although idk maybe they're super cheap because they're really awful to fly on.
like, this one? no they're p nice. They're like the only airline I fly on when I'm paying for a ticket myself. First to get wifi on board which is real nice.

Anything in podcast form?
I avoid that part of the internet for my sanity. There are probably podcast but remember most of the target audience for them are not the age demographics that podcast really hit.
Most of the major conservative show host I think have their show in a podcast like format online though.
Though we tend to state the Right here like a single block they are as diverse in opinion and focus as the dems. And like most things, politics is intensely local.
There are a few books out now that are good reads on folks who do tend to vote red. @Feral might remember the name but there was one that was about Louisiana and was more of a sociological study.

That esports people all go by codenames still bothers me.
The fact that eSports compensation is so atrocious despite the ridiculous revenues it's generating is what made me quit interfacing with it at all until I wanted to make some big moves.
The compensation packages for the Korean's and NCS teams is worse than it was for skateboarders in the 90's comparatively; and Skateboarding companies weren't essentially monopolies for their specific sports and having 11 figures in revenue. I also think eSports are a foregone conclusion for existing for as long as we have virtual worlds now and are sport in general, while "sport" skateboarding isn't quite as capitalist, competitive or mainstream...
They're both right wing but in the traditional European sense as opposed to US style hardcore free market libertarianism
Just to be a little skeptical about this, the US's conservative movement is pretty schizophrenic about free market libertarianism.
Like, our conservatives tend to support deregulation. But the Republican leadership and most of the Republican-aligned institutions (like Heritage foundation) are against drug legalization and in favor of protectionism ("buy American! NAFTA was a disaster!").
That's in contrast to a group like Cato, which is more libertarian on those issues.
Feral on
every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

If you are looking at the US, the Economist is center-left in US parlance. It holds a neo-liberal bent with a belief in the Washington consensus. I would not say they are a good view into the modern populist and conservative movements.

Yeah, they advertise flights from New York to a handful of European cities, mostly Scandinavia ofc, for five hundredish round trip.

this is the start
1. Those who have appeared in these Courts at the Bar or on the Bench over
many years see and hear a large number of horrific cases. This case however breaks new ground.
2. Any decent person looking at and listening to the material here will experience shock; revulsion; anger and incredulity. What you three did plumbed new depths of depravity.
