Not my story but man fuck that guy
My 10 year old stepson likes to watch some dude who plays Minecraft and calls his channel "Preston plays". One day last year, he asked his mom and I if he could have 5 dollars so he could chat in his stream as chat was disabled unless you "donated". We both thought that was fucking ridiculous and dumb but said fuck it, if it makes him happy we'll be nice and let him do it one time. So he gets access to chat and was happy that this guy gave him a shout out. Shortly thereafter, my stepson asked if he (Preston) would subscribe to HIS YouTube channel (which is quite barren as he doesn't really know what he's doing but just wants to be like this Preston Plays guy) and the dude rudely called him out for "self promotion" which he "should know is not allowed". Fuck that guy.

I know zilch about Katie Hopkins aside from one thing where she was getting huffy about children's names and saying she wouldn't let her children play with a child with a "working class name"
Katie went on to say that she didn’t like footballers’ names or geographical names like “Brooklyn” or “London”.

Philip Schofield pointed out that Katie’s daughter is named India. “Isn’t that a geographical name?” he asked.

Katie replied: “That’s not a geographical location. It’s a lovely name for a lovely child.”

Maybe it's different in the U.K., but in my experience it's upper-middle-class and nouveau riches who give their children unconventional names.

The only poor people I've known to do that are hippies and they go with names like Sunflower and Moonbeam and Jupiter.

"Malta's secrets are waiting to be discovered," reads a postcard that visitors are given before they fly home from the island nation, population 435,000. It probably isn't referring to the secrets of tax evasion, but there is certainly much to discover on the topic. The first address of interest: St. Julian's, Ross Street 7. It is an office building called "The Whispers," which is apt. This was the home of Robert Bosch Holding Malta Ltd., Robert Bosch Finance Malta Ltd. and -- because imagination seems to have been in short supply -- Robert Bosch IC Financing Malta Ltd.

Ltd., of course, stands for Limited, meaning limited liability, and it is the favorite corporate structure in Malta. The abbreviation can be found on thousands of mailboxes and buzzers -- and sometimes a half-dozen Ltd. names are stuck beneath the same letter slot. Founding a limited company is simple and requires an initial deposit of just 1,200 euros. Maltese officials brag that they sometimes don't need more than 24 hours to complete the formalities.

The words "Finance" and "Holding" are also popular elements in the names of Maltese subsidiaries of international corporations. After all, the focus is squarely on money -- money that is pushed back and forth between the parent company and its subsidiaries, often for one reason only: to reduce the amount subject to taxation back home, in Germany for example. One simple way of doing so is to show high costs back home while booking profits in Malta. The Mediterranean country may have a relatively high rate of taxation, at 35 percent, but foreign owners of Maltese-based companies, such as German parent companies, are refunded up to 30 percent by the Maltese tax authorities. Which leaves a tax rate of just over 5 percent.

    http://m.spiegel.de/international/business/a-1148915.html

the article is astute enough to point out that Germany doesn't have to pressure Malta to do a damn thing to remove the German tax relief on "foreign" profits, although it eventually falls back on the lazy BLAME THE FOREIGNERS rhetoric

base erosion is a real topic now tho. BEPS hit the G20 agenda in 2012. the Panama Papers leaked in 2016. if transfer pricing were a solved problem then a lot of these tricks would not work

this essay, too, is worth reading

It has flaws: MP Death, the difficulty spike when the executioners show up, the shitty plot twist.

But its a good game up until the executioners show up minus the MP death IMO.

Every tiny little loosening in the stranglehold of white supremacy in pop culture is "white genocide" according to those insecure losers.

I know a lot of people gave the trailer a hard time, but to be honest seeing a Star Trek trailer open with two women of colour talking to each other as mentor and mentee made me really happy and kinda cast a glow over that whole "my species senses death" thing.

I like all of those things.

The randomised level-ups, the shitty hell-crafting, the nonsense recruitment-limit, the "distracting trumpet" Hollywood-style audiomixing, the everything sucking in some phantasmal, niggling way, not so much.

They do this by sensing Summer Glau is coming own a tv show, and getting canceled. :)
