The point with such a gadget isn't the damage. It's the movement, allowing you to either close in to hack/bash/chaosy-stuff or dodge an AoE effect.

If it were a directional dash it would be very useful. It can only charge an enemy within a small radius of you, which makes its utility dramatically more narrow.
It feels like you start getting new talismans for the other slots as you progress along the main story. I think I got my first... wrist?... last night from doing some of the Blue Mountain story stuff.

So 22 votes on Strawpoll now. The majority is going to New Arcadians. Should it run a bit longer or should New Arcadians be made?

What is the point of being alive if you don't at least try to do something remarkable? ~ Mario Novak
I never fear death or dyin', I only fear never trying.
Yes, players will have to be online to receive a cabal invite. However, anyone of sufficient cabal rank can invite members, so as more people are invited, more people are able to invite.
As I'm already a member of another cabal, I won't be joining, but if you see me online I'll be happy to answer questions or assist with a quest.
The lack of synergy is a huge letdown. It seems that it's almost entirely just upgrading specific active abilities, and that limitation is only highlighted by the disparity in power level between the passives.
For example I have two similar abilities in the blood and rifle trees. The sigil AOE attack whose name I forget, and rapid fire. They both inflict similar damage by default and I use them together when bursting down trash. Rapid fire strikes 4 times in a short period of time. With a passive skill, that gets boosted to 5 hits. That's a 25% boost in performance. But the blood sigil gets a talent that applies a meager 5 damage per second dot. That was great at level 1 when it only did 10 damage, but the value of the dot has remained flats as my stats rose. If this were classic tsw it would still have value as a guaranteed way to apply a dot to enemies en-mass, which might help set up opportunities for other effects to proc from my other skills. However I haven't observed any such opportunity yet in SWL. The only reason that I even still have it is because I spent all my SP on stat boosts so I don't have any other passives unlocked to replace it.

I have a 3 star sword I'd be happy to trade someone... if I could trade. Which I can't.
Before following any advice, opinions, or thoughts I may have expressed in the above post, be warned: I found Keven Costners "Waterworld" to be a very entertaining film.

I'm working on a spreadsheet cataloging the active powers, and the accompanying passives for each weapon.
I've done Elementalism and I'm already burned out.

Skipped to the end of the thread, so if this has been answered repeatedly already I apologize. Assault Rifle and Pistol were extraordinarily weak in TSW, is that still the case or have they been improved ?

Every weapon is viable for solo play. Whether or not you care for the weapon depends on whether or not you care for the weapon's special mechanic. Check out my OPs for videos and information about how each weapon works now.
Rifle and blood are easy mode in kingsmoth. Although that's not exactly saying much.
The mobs there are generally swarms of weaklings, and both blood and rifles have good AOE's to spam.
You should be able to pair pistols with rifles. I recommend going warlock to hit the ground running with good aoe spam and then replacing blood with your pistols once you've unlocked Rapid Fire (rifle's main aoe ability). That should also give you time to FIND a pistol.
I haven't decided what I want to do for dealing with areas built around individual stronger mobs. I'll either branch into a new weapon or try digging into some of the offensive blood skills to see how well juggling the corruption/martyrdom meter for damage boosts works out.
I always thought rifles were great in classic tsw, although my experience was limited to a year or so after launch. At least at that point in the game's life, they came into their own once gear started getting upgraded and you started bumping into soft caps. I recall rifles outpacing fists/blood once you simultaneously had good damage and heal stats to bolster the raw heal component and the % damage done components of your heals. I also recall pistols being mandatory for parties at higher levels because of buffs and cleanses. But again, that was all experience from very early in the game's life.

I remember Rifle/Pistol at launch being
a. Seriously underpowered, and
4) A build that required mobility and fast re-positioning in a game with enormous mob density, so that it wasn't possible to use the Rifle/Pistol abilities without pulling 50 other neighboring monsters.
Fistol (fist/pistol) used to be the preferred option (due to ease-of-use and utility) on anything but timed bosses (because unlike the rifle/pistol build the fistol build had absolute crap dps).
All rifle-healer builds were mad gearintensive though, not really being competitive until you were softcapping healing&attack.

This was true if you were using the AOE stuff. They did have single-target skills, but you could turn the above into an advantage too (I played the majority of the story up to Shadowy Forest as AR/blade with a purely AOE build).
I tried AR for a few minutes in SWL, but gave up because the new camera/targeting system made it seem like AR's effective range is significantly reduced.
I still think that it's weird to think of rifles at launch as being underpowered. That just does not compute. They were extremely popular for soloing, and in PvP they were valued for the raw range of their abilities. They mostly just lacked in the raw healing output department until you started getting decked out in purples. Even then it was plenty for the story mode dungeons as long as people weren't standing in the fire.
Pistols were held up entirely by only a handful of abilities, but rifles were extremely popular.

I do remember early PVP being described as a bunch of Assault Rifles running around, waiting for 'Red Mist' to come off cooldown.
The leveling feels weird. I'm level 11 and need to hit 12 before I can progress and all the missions around me are level 5 to 9. So weird.
It will flatten out as you hit the mid-savage coast content.

I think that you might have missed a quest meant to divert you to some of the other questing hubs. Try checking over at the morning light camp, skate park, orochi checkpoint/Polaris entrance, and junkyard. I think quests from the church and the fortune teller should have sent you up that way. I think that the central story quest itself pulls you to the morning light camp
I've mostly been picking up all the quests that I can find for my dailies and I'm over leveled for the zone now. I heard something about a Revenant outfit for completing everything in the zone, and I want that.
In the dressing room, under "uniforms" is one called Claudia's Revenge. It says it's an achievement uniform. Does anyone know what achievement (and where) grants this outfit? I must have it!

Don't see it in mine, so it may be one of the faction-specific outfits? Maybe a deck outfit.
Although most achievement-outfits will have the specific name of the achievement down there too.

If you just followed the story quest line, yes. However if the achievement can be identified, you might be able to sneak into the zone early and unlock it ahead of schedule. That's assuming that the vampire connection actually does tie the unlock to Transylvania.
Quick Question, I've had secret world for ages with the lifetime permit. I have not played it for what maybe three years at least. Is this something different or that I can carry over?
There is an option to transfer content from your tsw classic account over to your swl account.
In addition to your lifetime patron status, most of your outfits, sprint styles, and pets transfer over. You might want to log in to tsw classic first and splurge your cash shop points on goodies to transfer over before doing the transfer. Make sure that your outfits are present on both genders if you care about transferring content for both genders.
Head over to the tsw classic thread in the mmo subsection first. You'll need to tweak some files to prevent the tsw classic client from overwriting itself with the swl client.

Pull the trigger, I want a damn cabal
I got my first head talisman when the main quest told me to go to the next area after Kingsmouth.
Proceeding further through the Solomon Island storyline should periodically provide you with more talismans.
Somehow I missed my last talisman as a reward and so I'm short a slot and just waiting for the proper flavor to drop from a reward bag...
