dentists are CONVINCED that everyone has a dentist phobia
I have a needle phobia (but need tons of needles) and so I take ativan before appointments. On like 5 or 6 occasions I have had to correct the dentist THAT GAVE ME THE PRESCRIPTION after she's said something like "Oh, did you remember to take your ativan for your dental phobia?" or "well, I know dentist appointments make you anxious, but,"

I still don't look when I get a blood test or injection, but it's not like I panic and try to flee.
over time I have worked my way from '4+ nurses have to hold me down for a blood draw' to 'can donate blood and mostly be fine', but needles jammed into the fleshy, muscular back corner of my mouth is still too much for me to handle sober (and I still sobbed uncontrollably post round 1 of needles during the root canal even tho I was on 2.5 ativan at the time)

because please, I'm not panicking because it might hurt, I just like any other healthy person greatly dislike pain so I at least try to make you give me more anesthetic, without having to say "yeah that does really hurt (like I said it would)" before getting more
