Didn't have anything to vote for today, so hadn't been paying too much attention. When you all say dems may win the house, are you just talking about the state level in Virginia or the U.S. House?

Greenwald, like Assange and Andrew Sullivan, is simply broken in the head by misogyny.

Clinton attracts a type of boyish, predictable hate from certain types of White men that is frightening to look at.

    State Level house of Delegates.

Wasserman is now saying Dems are slight favorites in the House of Delegates. Also Medicaid expansion is going to cruise to victory in Maine sounds like. Democrat is way, way up in the Charlotte mayoral election, which is usually close.

The idea that your vote is a moral statement about you or who you vote for is some backwards ass libertarian nonsense. Your vote is about society. Vote to protect the vulnerable.

Any word from WA, Preacher and Quid?

I am not in a position to know on account of not living anywhere near there.

Yeah, if the democrats were only picking up 3-6 delegate seats in VA's house, they could have made the argument that it wasn't really a repudiation of their ideology. After all they had a few seats simply because the democrats had never contested them and any barely palatable democrat with decent funding would have likely beaten the crazy republican incumbent. Throw in VA moving to a blue state, I won't say it is there, and the democrats were guaranteed pickups tonight. 12+ seats is a very clear sign that people are not happy with GOP.

Wow it’s almost like once you leave insanely red districts that Democrats would never have won anyway the message from the polls is somewhat different.

Like, Democrats going from zero to tying in super red districts wasn’t a sign of Doom.

NYC is voting against the Adirondack/Catskills land bank. What the hell, downstate? >:O

There's the 13th seat Dems need. Also a defense attorney and civil rights activist won the Philadelphia DA race on a platform of ending mass incarceration and telling Trump to fuck off.

It probably still will. The rest of the state gets to vote, too.

Dem Vi Lyles is up roughly 60-40 in Charlotte mayoral race, looks like an easy reelection.

Philly AD elected, a hard left reformer

Marty Walsh won reelection as mayor of Boston easily
De Blasio won reelection as mayor of NYC easily.

Dems finally lose one of these close delegate races. 47-45 Dems, 8 races uncalled. Need a split to win the House of Delegates.

Dems are 12 votes short in HD-94. Presumably a recount upcoming.

It cannot be understated how big of a blow losing the House of Delegates would be to the Republican party. These districts are Gerrymandered to fuck. Generating these kinds of results is something like +9 or +10 D. This would be an absolute repudiation of the Republican party from the state as a whole, and you're going to see a lot of panicked Republicans this week if that happens.

even if we don't take the house, we now have a democrat governor for 2020, when the next redistricting maps are drawn, who can veto any maps drawn that disadvantage democrats

    Allegedly a voice of reason.

Which is one of the reasons Northam winning was so important. Need unified control to really gerrymander shit after the census and they won't have it.

I never would have thought Greenwald would actually do Tucker Carlson's White Supremacy Hoedown, but now that I see him there, I can't really say I find myself shocked.

I think the NY Land Bank wasn't very clear on exactly why/how it would be a good idea. Everything else went by a pretty large margin, but Ballot 3 confused a lot of people around me.

No, it's the 2020 election that matters for that.

virginia's governor will still be governor in 2021 because we're on an off year schedule

The next Virginia Gubernatorial election is in 2021, not 2020.
