Reviving tablet with android 4.04 - security suicide?

I found an old Samsung galaxy tablet, and I'm thinking about using it as an ebook reader, YouTube player for my daughter etc.

However, the android version is very out of date since the tablet is not supported anymore.

How big of a security risk would i take by using the tablet? Usage would include being signed in on my Google account for YouTube, Google play etc.

Shortly after resetting the tablet and using it for the first time in years recently i got a security alert that my Google account was being accessed from a country i never been in - not sure if this is related to me using the tablet or not though... I reset my password and did not sign in again on the tablet after that.

    I don't know but it might be worthwhile to make a throwaway google account to use for the moment.

    How does one go about making such a google account? These days, a lot of places seem to want real (or "real") names, etc...

    Just fill in blanks until it's happy. Just because it WANTS a real name doesn't mean there aren't thousands of Fake McFakenames registered.

    Yeah, there is no verification on a new account. I have three under my control in various names.
