the lady immediately jumps in and says “we’re just good friends,” and when he tries to play it off she doubles down and yells “I’m single!” to the crowd
It turns out that The IT Crowd is so wildly unmemorable that despite having seen every episode of it at least twice I had no recollection of this horseshit transphobic episode.
It was during the episode where jen was made employee of the month and had to give a speech to shareholders, and Roy & Moss told jen that they had managed to get a box containing The Internet for her to present.
Boss dude starts dating a woman, who reveals at dinner that she was born a man (horrible explanation as well).
He says that's fine, they have a montage of great times where she engages in typically masculine behaviours like chugging at the pub, darts and bowling, then in bed after making side eye comments to camera wondering how she's so skilled with working a penis, he mentions that he was surprised she thought it might be an issue that she was from iran.
Surprise! He was only okay with her being trans because he misheard her! Freakout begins, culminates in him breaking up with her at work the next day, blaming the breakup on her being trans to studio laughter. She punches him because that's what trans people are like, then they both beat the shit out of each other throughout the building until he throws her through a wall and says its over.
It wasn't great, though there were three good points most shows don't get-
1 had a woman actress, trans woman would have been better but wouldn't really want to expose an actual trans woman to that script
2 never brought up a dead name
3 boss dude was shown as regretting the end of the relationship at the end of the episode.
Still not great overall though.

Mika Brzezinski was layin' it on thick this morning, she tried to say Wolf was making jokes about S H-S's appearance, and that's shameful
I don't think I need to explain, here, why that's flatly incorrect; I think it's clear that the actual problem she and others like her have is that they resent being told stuff like "you claim to hate trump but also profit hugely from him and it's your fault we have him"
It is amazing if not surprising how unsettling stuff made with or about Bill Cosby 30, 20, or even just ten years ago is now.
Like there are jokes in tons of shows about Bill Cosby basically being an african american saint and while some of them surprisingly still work, they play entirely differently now.
