People that go over to someone elses house for food, but insist on being involved in the cooking are the worst sort.

yeah i mean i'll offer assistance but butting in and trying to take over is bad form

Sure offer if they need help like with prep work, or lifting something like a turkey on thanksgiving, but just butting in? Fuck you, get out of my god damn house.

One of several reasons I divorced my inlaws.

    yes exactly

My inlaws will sometimes cook if they're visiting, which is nice as it gives Mrs. DoctorArch a break.

What drives me crazy is their inexplicable inability to put things back where they found them. Sure, I love finding clean coffee mugs in three separate cabinets, none of which are the actual cabinet from which they originally grabbed the coffee mug <glare>.

man this is the price of admission though

They also load the cups sideways in the dishwasher because somehow that's better? War crimes I tell you.

I bought some nice looking mangos and they came individually packaged with this mesh stuff around them

Seems wasteful but they look good

yeah i dunno why they do that with mangoes

maybe to keep them from bruising because they're already so soft i dunno

i've seen avocados like that too

    Allegedly a voice of reason.

I've been seeing the name Jordan Peterson here and there. What's the deal? Googling doesn't seem to tell me unless I want to spend a lot of time reading long articles. Why should I do that when I have chat to do?

He's a Canadian psychology prof who kind of blew up by talking about typical socially conservative ideas--refusing to use a trans person's chosen pronoun, personal responsibility as the solution to all of society's problems, essential differences between men and women, the danger and failure of feminism, etc.

Keeps a rhetorical distance from the alt right but has been thoroughly embraced by them

He is a psychologist that became popular because he had bad and extremely misinformed views on a Canadian transgender hate crime bill and is generally attractive to the Nazier elements of the internet.

So he's like the terrible self-help guy from season five of Dexter?

Cookout has decent burgers, but they're not everywhere.

McDonalds has overall consistency in quality between locations, and their overall quality is steadily going up year by year. They tend to be the fast food choice for my family if we're out and about or traveling. The kids get a happy meal with nuggets, yogurt, apple slices, and a sometimes nice toy (the current line is mini stuffed animals from National Geographic). We usually get a grilled chicken sandwich or one of their salads and it's fine.

McDonalds also has better coca-cola products because they have a higher syrup to water ratio than other places.

    I miss cookout

    Also sunrise biscuit kitchen

Call me crazy, but there's a clear angle by which water is sprayed in a dishwasher, and it's certainly not from that angle. Nor is it from that angle in their dishwasher in their house.

The stuff they did during medieval times was usually pretty worthless. A better comparison would be to some old treatment that was necessary at the time but no longer has to be done.

Yeah, many forms of chemotherapy are basically poisoning the body in the hopes of killing off the cancer first before it trashes the rest of your body. Many cancers, due to their high growth rate, are disproportionately affected by the poison compared to the rest of you. It is better than the alternative (certain death), but it is very much a "we had to burn the village to save it" paradox.
