I don't know what to get. Looking to spend around 20 dollars.

What are things mothers like?

Go to the grocery store and get some foodz. Cook her dinner.

    Seriously.

If she's anything like my mother, she'll like something that demonstrates that you actually put some effort into the present, even if it's inexpensive. That can mean being creative and making something yourself, or it can mean buying something that demonstrates your being thoughtful.

So, cooking dinner is a good idea. Or, find one of those kitschy bead shops, and make her a $10 bracelet with her initials/name. Or draw/paint a picture for her. Or buy a live CD/DVD of her favorite musician, or compile a mix CD of her favorite music so she can listen to it in the car.

Mine. She looks at them, sighs, feigns to like them and then puts them up.

I'm planning on doing all her usual house chores tomorrow. I am NOT going to enjoy it and I think that is integral to the part of wishing her a happy Mother's day. So she'll essentially get a free day.

I did that and mine was really pleased. It's cheap and effective.

I also bought her $1200 worth of patio furniture, but I think I could have got by with just cleaning the house.
