Then welcome to Founders of Gloomhaven. The boardgame that I currently spend a whole lot of time thinking about that is absolutely nothing like Gloomhaven the other boardgame.

    I'm pretty sure Agricola has thousands of expansions. You should just go really deep into those and the pre-game card drafting bit.

    As a dog of economics you may enjoy Brass or Container.

    Brass is an industrial revolution economics game set in Lancashire or Birmingham depending on the edition. It's also super pretty

    And container is a game about shipping containers about. But is is frighteningly ugly and fairly hard to get hold of despite a recent reprint. I've not actually played this one but I do lust after making a pretty print and play version

    I was just playing Agricola again last week. I like it.

    i had the most fun when i had a gimmicky synergy, even if that synergy wasn't that great and still lost to supremely efficient receive 1 food per two rounds stuff

    not real probation. they call it deferred disposition here, but it's no contest or NoLo other places. Basically if I don't get another ticket for 90 days it doesn't go on my record.

    I find it to be a more fun because of the people game. And the twists. But not a whole lot going on mechanic wise. Sometimes you just lose because you don't know what is going on.

    Container is amazing in its economic brutality. When you are shipping a boat whatever goods you have the most of floods the market and is worth nothing. There is no money in circulation that doesn’t start from the players, and buying from the “bank” obliterates that money.

    And by goods we mean cold impersonal non-flashy shipping containers

    I have done very little this week
    but part of very little was setting up appropriate backups after we lost a server last week, because the people who were supposed to didn't
    so I feel like I've done enough

    we have some neighborhood friends that are p into it, so we end up playing once every couple months or so

    It is pretty serious, when in a high traffic area.

    While waiting for a bus, I once witnessed cars block north/south traffic for 7 straight minutes because they kept blocking the box through each light cycle.

    I got through like thirty seconds later. People had to detour like ten feet around my ass. It wasn't a big deal!

    *grumbles*
