I really enjoy Jan's Pokemon streams. He's at my exact level of investment in competitive which is "knows enough to have some understanding of strategy, but not super deep into optimization and metagaming".
It seems odd that Let's Go is what he's playing to do it, but I guess that's the only game that's easy to get capture footage of and those websites are probably very illegal
I believe he mentioned on a recent stream that he wanted to do one with UltraSun to show what that side of competitive is like right now, but his 3DS got stolen in a coffee shop

Giant Bomb has a setup to capture 3DS games, that's not an issue. Jan is playing Let's Go because he loves Let's Go (and also because it's the current most recent Pokémon game). He semi-regularly checks in and gives a mobile Go update, he's into that whole thing.

Just thinking about that episode makes me laugh, god it was so good.
"Though this task was clearly more suited to a fraternity brother who had lost a bet than to a life reviewer, I prepared my stomach and my nerves for a very large breakfast. The world record for pancakes eaten in one sitting is 73 pancakes. That is held by a Russian man whose life must be an unendurable hellscape of excruciating sadness."

Possibly my favorite line is when the server mentions that if he succeeds, they'll put his picture up on the wall and he gives an incredibly dismissive, "Mm, no, I don't think so." Just knowing what's to come for him makes that smugness really funny.
It is very easy to convince me that Andy Daly is the funniest person alive
If you've never seen videos of him doing improv' comedy, he's really good at it!

I still have no regrets the year I attended a secretive Halloween party, hosted in an industrial warehouse sub-system in south Seattle, dressed as Forrest MacNeil.
Only two people recognized my outfit, but they fucking lost their minds regarding it.

zonnie you’re in the podcast thread, baby! we appreciate mr. daly’s entire oeuvre here
and yes that includes the carmax commercials
every time I see one of those commercials I'm all "yeah Andy Daly, you get that check, you make your mortgage payments for your family home with that check, Andy Daly"

I've listened to a fair number of How Did This Get Made recordings by this point, but good lord do they fucking hate The Snowman on this past week's episode.

Great episode.
I like Paul's point that this is why they have the podcast. This is a film that should have been at least competent. Great cast, good director/editor, adapted from a bestselling crime book. $35M budget. And you get...The Snowman.

I don't normally watch the HDTGM movie. I always watch the trailer and if there are any particular scenes on YouTube sometimes those. I was about to at least try the Snowman but then everyone but Paul so so vehemently against it that I decided not to.
the punch-up on this week's putj murdered me, and i am dead

The fact that they had an unnamed staff member of the movie was fantastic and I have no idea what they were going for with Holes's new backstory.
"A new take on the epic fantasy genre... Darkly comic, relatable characters... twisted storyline."
"Readers who prefer tension and romance, Maledictions: The Offering, delivers... As serious YA fiction, I’ll give it five stars out of five. As a novel? Four and a half." - Liz Ellor My new novel: Maledictions: The Offering. Now in Paperback!
Jackson is definitely a blank check kinda guy but I don’t want 6 middle earth podcasts. And McTiernan has a fun filmography and went to jail for reasons related to one of his films!
I bet their eps on Jackson’s B movies and Frighteners would be good though.

at least 4 of the middle earth movies would be good podcasts because lotr is good and the hobbit is interesting enough that it'd be fun to talk about why it's bad, I just don't expect that to be interesting for more than 1 podcast.

Sometimes they lean a LITTLE heavily on meme-y humor, but fuckin' whatever, that's better than being actively awful

Its way worse when its Miel
Miel grew up on an island of rich white people and was homeschooled, and now lives in LA, a bubble of shitty complacent liberalism
I'm not surprised she fucked up but she needs to do better
